Jakebrake86,me and my 2 brothers were the 3rd generation to be at it.Our grandfather stated back around 1920.Have pic of the old stream shovel he had back in 1925.The prices that guys are doing work for around here is crazy.we did just heavy earthmoving,airports,resiover,warehouses,highways and so forth.I guess if we look back we were smart and luckey when we sold everything,it was all paid for.Guys today at the end of the day all they have are a bunch of payments books.Hand on.Mike

Well I got some work done on the old girl today.I have the cab lifted up off the frame,just trying to break the steering box loose.Then I have to rig up something to get my chain hoist abit wider,it short by about 2" to clear the rear tires,so I can drag the truck out from under the cab.I may just remove the rear outside tires to drag it out from under the cab.

Yes it is sad that we went out,but when there's no work and the work that is there isn't paying what it should be it no sence in spinning your wheels just trading $.We stated to look long and hard about the way the industy was headed back around 05-06We were involved in a major lawsuit with the city of Newark,Del that we won but that just made our thinking that much easier.It was a great run,and we would get back into it if it was worth it.I call the contractors around here the walking dead,their only problem is that they don't know to fall over.

That was my cousins that you saw up at Alkinson yard.The taxes got to high there on Grant Ave.

Yes their yard is right off of 95.

How Jimmie and Joey doing haven't talk to them in awhile.I do have a R model in the old yard,it there with my B87 that I am doing over.I take it you drive for JDM,if you are going by our yard and see the gate open I'm most likely in there working on the B87,you should stop in.Mike Durkin

Just by the way everything else has come off this wheel WILL be a BITCH.I think I may just remove the whole box.

Looking for alittle help here.What is involved in taking the steering wheel off.I removed the horn button.I see the nut under it but I can't get a socket on it,what am I doing wrong here.If it would be easier to remove the steering box instead,I will do that.The only problem I see with me removing the steering wheel is that it is cracked in afew places and I don't want to end up with a bunch of broken pieces.I had to remove the steering box on a 1956 Ford F600 I did for the same reason that was a cracked wheel.Thanks again. Guys,looking for the wiring diagram for my B87.I'm sure that all B models would be the same.It looks like I will most likely be taking the cab off my B87.Looking up under the dash after I blew out 50 years of dust it looks like mangled spaghetti.There are wires that go nowheres.Once I get the cab off and the dash out of it I will be rewiring it also.Having the diagram would make it a whole lot easier and much quicker.You can email it to me.Thanks Mike Durkin md992@aol.com

I know that my B87 came with 12.00x24.

It is ABC that has the truck.Can anyone really afford to care for there trucks like they should be doing.Most contractors are working nowadays for nothing so the first place they cut the cost is either inamount of manpower or equipment maintence.And we all know if you want ot be running 10 trucks or equipment you can't very well do it by cutting manpower you cost maintence.

leversole,are you close to Wellsboro me and my brothers were looking into buying out a dump truck service company,but the deal fell through.No fault of either party the gas company brought in a middle man,that when it all went to hell in a handbasket.

I would have to say it was a 983,we had 2 of them beast.They would always overheat it you ran them hard.They were better suited for demo work.Loading trucks allday would really put a strain on the torq.convertor.

Hate to admit it but we owned that truck many moons ago.We had brought it used back around mid 80's.It was in good shape then and we took good care of it,considering it was used as a jobsite grease truck.I remember when I brought it back from a job we did in Altonna,PA on the lowboy and was stopped by the local police and he wanted to see my bill of lading for the oils I was carring.I told him that all the tanks were empty which they were.We had pumped them all out before I left,well there must have been about half a pint of fluid in each tank that he could see.When it was all said and done if I remember right he gave me something like a $10,000 fine.My dad told me to take the truck to the local police and leave it there for payment, which I did.The police chief told me that I couldn't do that,I just keep on listening to him say no don't do that as I unloaded it.He ended up calling our office and telling them they had some sort of a nut driving the lowboy.Our lawyer called out and settle it all over the phone.I di get a good laugh out of it.That truck is now own by another local contractor that as you can see hasn't taken very good care of the old girl.

Your right Bigdog on both comments.If all someone wants is a truck that is driveable that seems like a good deal.

That is a sweet looking truck,reminds me of the ones we had.Didn't go very fast but you always got to where you going.It sounds like alot of money for a truck that you aren't going to work it,and after you get done making it into a show truck you will have well over $20,000 into to it,and when was the last time you saw a b61 go for that kind of money.I'm not saying that this truck is not worth the $11,000 maybe all of the other trucks that are out there for $5,000-$6,000 are only worth say 1,000-2,000. You have to keep in mind that we are restoring these truck not for profit but out of the love we have for these trucks.If I go and take my b87 down to the bare frame and make it like new,I can't even begin to think of what that would cost to have someone else do the work,it would be in the range of $80,000-$100,000 to do the truck.Keep in mind that my truck was road worthly.Just my 2 cent worth.Mike Durkin

That a great job you did on your truck.Once you throw the floor mat down no one will be the wiser.On mine I don't know why they added the two outside bolts to hold the cab down.I will be taking them out and just putting a piece of metal over that area.Working on sanding down the passenger door today,put a lower piece of skin on it where it had rooted out.

I'm going to use Por15 on the complete floor panals,and where ever else I can get it on.That stuff is alittle $$$ but it well worth it.

It was alittle cold out today to do any work in my unheated building,so I used the time wisely and took my wife of 28 years back to her home town of Baltimore,MD to visit the gravesite of her parents.It would have been her mother's 91st birthday today.Will be picking up my passenger door from a fellow that made a lower door skin for it.The skin looks great,willpost a pic of it on Wed.

Maddog,do you really think I even need the ripples,since the truck won't be pulling anymore lowboys.I was just going to weld in something to match the orignal thickness and be done with it.Like you said it get covered up with a floor mat.

That red DM that belongs to English Paving looks to be a twin to the ones we had back in the late 70's.

Sorry first 2 are't right.I will be busy cleaning the whole area,it has 49 years worth of dirt and grease.
