  1. Dad brought 45 Mack that year for a job we had to do.20 r models,15 dm600 triaxles,10 umodels.Once the job was done u models were gone,dm we kept them,r models were parked and tags removed. They were only used very rarely, then parked again.
  2. Trust me I most likely won’t sell it it if it goes for a boat ride.Pictures don’t show just how good of condition this truck is in.There is absolutely no rust at all.Youwill have to see it to believe it.
  3. That the way my father brought all his trucks. He ordered 20 of these r models and that how all came from the factory.
  4. This is a one family truck with only 76,000 miles. There is absolutely no rust or frame spreading of any kind.It has 300 motor with 285 hp,12000 front axle,38,000 rears.5 speed with hi- lo.New tires.$40,000
  5. I took the old dog out for what may be my last run.I have decided to put her up for sale. This R model has to be the cleanest rust free truck you will find.My Mack dealer say they will list it for $40,000 and go from there.I do have a standing offer from 2 fellows, that want it.One wants to take her for a boat ride which I don’t want, the other is going to put it to work. 6. Having trouble downloading your pic,I will run that red wire to the batteries positive side. Thanks for the help.
  7. Geoff, the top post that is white in color goes to the engine block then to the frame. The red wire goes directly to the frame.l’m thinking this may be the hot wire?
  8. Looking at pic 1,the 3 circuit breakers on the right are dead all the time even know the heater does work. There’s no hot next 7 breakers are always hot key on or off. What is making them hot them hot is the third wire to the left, disconnect this wire and they go dead.I thought the power goes from batteries to starter, then key switch. The only thing that should be hot all the time is the breaker for the flashers and maybe the cable dome light. Picture 2 of the alternator you can see the 2 wires coming off the alternator are both ground wires,I’m thinking the little black plug you see should be the hot wire leading back to the batteries.
  9. It been in the family since new.My problem is all of our mechanics have passed onto Mack heaven.
  10. I will get them in morning.I will say this the truck has 4 12volt batteries. The 2 on driver side the positive post are on the front side, passenger side they are on the backside.
  11. Two separate post. One is a ground to the frame, the other is a ground going to engine block then to frame.I checked the circuit breakers and the 7 in the middle are hot on both sides, with the key off.I throught the power went from the accessory relay to the breakers, mine is the opposite.
  12. Looking for a wire chart for my 1979 r model. The alternator is not charging the battery. There is just 2 wires coming out of it.One is a ground wire going to the engine block, the other one is another one going to the frame as a ground. There’s no hot wire going back to the starter to charge the batteries.
  13. Found some pin holes in my one fuel tank, has anyone used JB weld on pin holes? If not what have you used?
  14. It been awhile since I’ve posted about any progress I have made on the truck.I have all the tires mounted and on the truck.I went with gray wheels, they really break up all the red.Am sandblasting the fuel tanks and front bumper then I will mount them.Just waiting for the body guy to call so I can get the cab and fenders, hood to him. Will get some pictures of the wheels tomorrow and post them.

  20. Can someone post a picture of how the front end on a b61 goes together.I’m trying to build my son a desk for his office using the grill, shutters, headlight panels and fenders.Picture from the parts book would be fine. Tks.
  21. Have a question for the experts. When I towed the truck to the painter I pulled the right rear axle to keep the drive shaft from spinning, when I pulled the axle cap no oil came out.The bearing was packed in grease,as you can see in the picture.I pulled the plug on the rear to check Level of oil and oil came out,so the rear has plenty of oil.My question is shouldn’t the oil be running out to the bearings at the other end of axle?Or is the bearings fine being packed in grease.
