  1. 1st-the voltage regulator is marked mp,the fellow that I have dealt with the past 50 years tell me that mp stand multiple polarities (positive or negative). The generator is not working so he’s going to try and find parts to rebuild it.I don’t have anything else wired up yet.
  2. As many of you know I’m restoring my B87,which has been in the family since new.I was always under the assumption it was positive ground being it was built in 1964.My electrician friend tells me it’s negative ground,he had a test gauge that says so.My question is how do I check to verify what it is?The truck has a voltage regulator and a generator, generator is not working so I’m getting that fixed.
  3. I will try your thoughts tomorrow morning, when I get back to it.
  4. Will check it out tomorrow morning Tks again

  7. As many of you may be aware that I’m restoring my 1964 B87 tractor. This positive ground is giving me a run for the money. When I use my test light to check things I’m finding everything to be hot, even the steering column is hot.My truck has a Cummins motor it’s a dt335,which has a fuel shut off solinord, that doesn’t seems to be working right, the motor runs fine if I use the manual shutoff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Having a problem, when I checked my electrical system everything is hot on the truck.I touch the steering column with the test light and it light up hot .What am I doing wrong
  9. You’re probably right but want to get things up off the floor and shelves.I want to paint them also before I put them back on.
  10. I have had my B87 tractor painted. The frame I had a local tow company do it an they did a great job,but I had sandblast it first. Then the cab and fenders and so worth I had Mickey Delia from Frenchtown NJ do that and again fabulous job.I had sandblasted the cab my self. All in I’m going to say without including my time I have $25,000 in it.Hersome pictures of it.
  11. Finally got it to crank over. That series parallel switch gave me a fit, figured my switch was bad.Got one off the internet and just waiting for the oil filter to come in at the local Cat dealer should be in in the morning.
  12. Finally figured out that my sps is bad got 24 going in and nothing coming out.So I went on line and found one.So now I wait for my oil filter( hopefully Friday),sps also thinking Friday. Will be busy this weekend if all goes well.
  13. Tks,it has been about 15 or more since I last did this.Just don’t want to burn anything up
  14. I’m wiring up the truck now. Using 2 12 volt batteries, not 4 6 volts ones. Here’s the diagram I’m using,is this correct?I am pretty sure the truck is positive ground.Anything I should be doing since it has been about 15 years since I last wired up a Mack.
  15. This is what I am going to use for the motor.yea or na
  16. Before I start up my truck,I want to change all the oils.It has a Cummins DT335 engine I’m thinking 30 weight.Power steering get power steering fluid, transmission 30 weight, rears all get 90weight.Whats everyone throughts.
  17. I don’t know about highly skilled,I grow up around Mack’s and heavy equipment. We had some of the best mechanics around,it was hard not to learn something.Yes both of you are correct with the mechanics today just want to replace the broken let alone why it broke. We had this one old timer that no matter what he was doing he always had the service manual out on the back of the truck.
  18. Harry’s,that the exact as what I have. What I need is the threaded nut on the end,it has bad threads.I can use it but would like to have a better one.
