  1. When I f up I f up.I painted the frame of the b87 yesterday, thinking i was using a single stage paint.I have looked over so many different shades of red and different brands, I forgot what I had ordered.Well I was using a basecoat clear coat.I was doing great until I found out that I didn't have any clear coat.Well it's as dull as it can get.I will be calling the maker (Kirker paint) on Tuesday to see what I should do.I'm thinking that I will have to scruff it up and then put the clear over it.I think what I would like to do is to use a single stage over the basecoat rather than the clear coat.I have had good luck using the single stage paint in the past.
  2. What shade of red paint did you use on the frame it looks great.I've been waiting for the red paint that I ordered to come in so I can start to paint my B87.
  3. My 1979 R model weighs in at 17500 with a half a tank of fuel.Had it out for a spin last week and was going by the stone quarry throught I 'ld have it weighed.
  4. Has anyone used the mack red paint lately.I am just about ready to paint my B87 and I was thinking of using the Ford F1 paint, this is a really bright red.I have it on my 79 r model and it looks great but very $$$$.Does anyone have any throughts. Mike
  5. Paul,i will try you when i go down there this week to let you know what he has.Mike
  6. Like to see your pic. What the info on the other one.
  7. Paul,I will be going back this week.I know he has a tank for you,it was in the body that where we got the other tank from.I think there was 2-3 pass. tanks in there.the brackets I don't know about,if my friend take that one complete truck that has the tank and brackets on it i think. He doesn't have any other b81 parts there. Will let you know how I make out.My # is 215-669-1252
  8. Paul, i will go back this week and get some. Will a tank from the b61 fit your b81?What hood parts do you need?
  9. Maddog would like to see some pictures of your old ford p/u,i am looking for one that not all chopped up or hot rodded up.
  10. I have been thinking the same thing Joe.But how sets of hoods do we really need the same with fenders and any other good parts that are there.Frames, axles, rears would most likely sit around for years before someone would need them. What I'm thinking of doing is what the fellow offered your dad, take the one green truck totally and get the parts he needs then scrap what left.Let me ask the fellow members here the question,How many of you all need parts and what do you need. There was a fellow on here that was looking for glovebox hingles, you still need them?
  11. Forgot to mention that the owner said he has a B61SX that he would like to sell for $4200.It runs and is in great shape.I may have to travel across state lines to see this one. Will keep you all posted.
  12. Here are the last 2 pic from this morning trip. They are of a Mack B20.The cab is in great shape.I am going to work on the owner to sell it to me,he says someone else wants it.It has a gas engine that doesn't run.I would like to make it into a stake body to haul one of my antique caterpillars around on.
  13. Here are the pic.The first 2 my friend is going to get this one for scrap price, less the dump body and front axle.Next one is the sister to the first green one.Next 2 are the dump body full of hoods, fenders and other parts. The red one the owner is going to put the dump body from the first green on this one.I forgot to get the 2 pic of a B20 that he has also will post them later.ENJOY>
  14. Went this morning to look over the trucks some more.Friend brought the fuel tank he needed and some other parts pretty cheap. He has a whole lot of doors that are in really nice shape if anyone needs one. Will post pictures later today.
  15. I'll be going back on Saturday. The dump body on the green one is full of doors, fenders, rad and other body parts.I don't really need anything but I just like to look at all the stuff he has.I am going to see what he would let one of the complete trucks go for.
  16. I won't have to worry about any future owners, after I get done with this truck my son will become the proud owner of it.
  17. I know it must be getting alittle boring seeing these same pic,but I promise the next ones will have some paint in them.Over the weekend I finished up with the bulk of the sandblasting of the frame, airtanks, fuel tanks and alot of the smaller parts.I have oredered the primer and will be picking out the red hopefully today at the paint store.I think I'm going with the Ford F1 red paint, that whats on my R model, the wheels on this truck I will be using silver to break up all the red color.
  18. What parts do you need, there was one b42 left.It didn't appear to be in that bad of condition.I should be going back on Monday or Wednesday.
  19. Sorry, but no single axles.I want to get into the dump body that he has filled with body parts, and see just whats in there. Will take pictures.
  20. Today as I was working on the restoration of my B87 Mack a fellow wonder in on me at the shop.We started to talk about old trucks and he told me about these B models.he didn't know how many there were but he said I wouldn't be sorry if I went and check them out.Well I was all over this like a hobo on a ham sandwich.Went and checked it out and found 8-9 bmodels in one yard right here in Philly. The fellow at the yard said he had already cut up 5-6 other ones that were to far gone. They were all b61's and b42's.There was 1 LFSW that had only 58,000 miles on it.It was a gas powered one.The other trucks were very well used to say the least. He did have a 10 wheeler full of fenders and other body parts the he saved from the ones he cut up.I will be going back next week to have a better look and I will take some pictures and post them here.
  21. I got to pick up the pace I'm moving at.I was told about 8 month ago that I will be needing a knee replacement,at that time I laugh and told doc I'ld see him in 5years and he just looked and laugh at me.He has been into my rifgt knee 5 times, what the all saying "how many times can you go to the well".So I pack it in ice every morning and night.Well onto better things, waiting for tire man to come by and break loose the lugnuts on the rear tires,so they can be removed and I'll finish up with the sandblasting. In the meantime I'll sandblast all the smaller parts, fuel tanks, fenders, hood, airtanks, and so on.Will keep you posted on the progress of the truck.
  22. I went out to the driveway and just check it.I took off the arms and it worked alittle better.Mine looks different then yours. On mine there is a fitting that should have a hose coming out of it,but the hose is missing,so it leakink air now.Where would that hose go too.I will take a pic of it in the morning.Thanks. Mike
