  1. The sleeper cab is a fairly rare today, mainly because they rusted worse than a regular B cab,so if it's in good shape, runs and drives good,etc,5 to 7,000 probably wouldn't be too out of line, but I sure wouldn't come right out and offer him that, let him price it and go from there.
  2. 20 inch tube type and 22.5 tubeless use the same hub,22 inch tube type and 24.5 tubeless are the same,Don't think there is a tubeless version of 24 inch tube type.
  3. We used to have both MC and MR,with the MC being the lighter, city tractor/light straight truck model and the MR was heavy duty, mainly a garbage truck chassis.
  4. The last 2 numbers were the engine code, here are a few for example, using the RS700 as the truck. RS785.....ENDT675 Maxidyne RS786.....ENDT676 Maxidyne RS795.....ENDT865 Maxidyne RS797.....ENDT866 Thermodyne RS771.....12V71 Detroit RS773......8V71 Detroit RS747......NTC290 Cummins RS767......NTC350 Cummins They did put some Cats in but I'd have to get my book out, only one I can remember off the top of my head is the code for a 3208,which is 92,never made the 700 series R models, but there were some R492's made. If you want to know any other specific ones, let me know, cause there were hundred or so,take me all day to type them all,I did once for Tom Gannaway, hope he saved it somewhere. One more thing,Block, there was also a 285 hp version of the ENDT865 V8 and a 350 hp version of the 866.
  5. Looks to be in decent shape body wise, but it has the wrong engine, supposed to have a 866 V8.
  6. I've never had to take the top off to get one unstuck.......yet.Just soak it and work it up and down, should free up fine.
  7. I have a couple used ones out back with dual cut outs.,I'll have Mikey measure them for you when he gets home Wed. nite.I had a brand new 36" Able with dual cutouts, traded it for a '69 F model last year.Still have a brand new one with single cut out.
  8. Dad just got his new '06 Vision 2 weeks ago,and it was top notch shape.I just hope it is going to be as trouble free as the '01 he traded in.
  9. Can't wait for the McDonald's Happy Meal toy of it to come out.
  10. Gearbox on top of the Brownie you can run the winch off of
  11. I've used Lucas oil additive in my F model,my Superliner, and now my CH.Don't know if it does any good or not,but it sure ain't done any harm either.
  12. If you want some more info on the customized B,do a search for Millenium Mack, that what the truck is called. One of these days I'll figure out how to post one of those links you can just click on.Sadly,it started life as a early B-75 with the sheet metal grille shell, pretty rare truck, but at least it didn't end up scrapped. While I wouldn't do that radical custom work to any of mine,I do think it's neat in it's own way.
  13. Rob, Ain't this the one you got on Ebay, from down in MO????
  14. Most of my trucks are here at home,Newport,Iowa. It ain't on most maps cause there's no town here anymore, just a truckstop,a car dealer,a few houses and a whole bunch of old trucks. It's right on Highway 61.Like I tell most people I give directions to,if you miss my place, you can't see well enough to be driving.
  15. Barry, Did you ever figure out what I'm doing wrong?Posted 3 more pics to my album tonite and another one turned up black in the thumbnails. No big deal, just wondered if it's something I'm doing wrong on my end.
  16. From the album: Mike's Macks

    '57 B65,673,10 speed Duplex.Originally out of MO,I traded a friend of mine a '49 Chevy for it.
  17. From the album: Mike's Macks

    My '59 N61T,673,15 speed Triplex.Saved from a junkyard in Dixon,IL
  18. From the album: Mike's Macks

My '58 B73 L cab with Mercury sleeper added.
  19. Thanks for confirming that Doug.A friend of mine stopped there a few years ago and took some pics to show(tease)me.I was sure I recognized the trucks, especially the LJ,B hooked to the reefer and the H63.
  20. I might be wrong as I usually am,but I think that is John Chalmers place.
  21. I'm not real sure with firetrucks what the S stands for,but 45 is the model and 1240 means yours was the 240th one built,Mack started each model with 1001 under the old system. You can tell alot more about the later ones('50's up to very early '80's) from the VIN than you can the earlier trucks.
  22. either got the year wrong or somebody stuck an A model shell on a E model.
  23. Once again I second your answer,HK.I have had to argue this with others from time to time. All it usually takes is a tape measure and a copy of the factory spec sheet to prove this is the correct way of measuring whelbase.
  24. I know what you are going thru.Quite awhile back I sold an old Chevy truck to a kid about 30 miles away.He gave me a small down payment and said he would pay me the balance when I delivered it.He didn't have a way to haul it and I agreed to deliver it for a fee.I showed up,nobody around,he finally called me after I sat there for almoost an hour and said he had to take his girlfriend to hospital.Said he'd bring money later in the week,so dumbass me unloaded it.Last I heard from him.Tried several attempts to call, stopped by a couple times when I was in the area.About a month went by so I decided to go get the truck and it was gone. Learned my lesson, right?Nope. Sold a IH COE to another guy 6 months ago, same deal, wanted it delivered.Said I'd deliver it when I got paid in full, didn't have his checkbook with him of course.Day later he called me in the truck, said he really needed some parts of it and did I care if he came back and took them off here.I said fine, leave a check with my wife, take what you need off the truck and I'll bring truck that weekend.I get home, parts gone,no check and he won't answer his phone. Only thing I can say was neither of these people were old truck guys.
