  1. I would think a 1693 would be pretty rare in a Western 700.Might not hurt to check with the Mack Museum to see how many were built that way. I never could understand Mack Western trucks numbering system.Unlike the eastern built models where each individual model started with a new VIN number,R611ST1001,R685ST1001,etc.,and you could tell how many of each were built and what number yours was.The Westerns didn't.You could have a RL795LST12345,and the next one off the line could be RL763LST12346.
  2. Rob, I think that "55" is a Cat engine code.The codes for Mack V8's were "15" and "19" for the 864 and 864 turbo,and "95" for the 865 Maxidyne,and "97" for the 866.
  3. Brought this home last nite.Been sitting in a farmer's fence row for 30 years.Cab is in excellent shape. Also has a really cool old Mack pyrometer. The rest of the truck was used to make a 4 wheel drive farm tractor, back in 1975.
  4. Thanks to the owner of a local scrapyard,I was able to save another old Mack from death. When it came into his yard he had his crew unload it carefully and set it aside, then gave me a call. It's a EQT,serial # EQT1D9322D,original Lanova engine has been replaced by a EN510,Monoshift was replaced with a Duplex.Luckily it still had both rare Mack Diesel emblems. Also has a different grille shell than typical on the EQ's.
  5. Had to drag this old topic back up.Today I hauled home an old EQ,never seen a front emblem like this before on any other Mack.Same style as a B,yet smaller and thicker, with the Mack script similar to the flat side emblems used on early L models.
  6. Yes,a '69 would have the small letters. They went to the larger size in 73 or 74.
  7. RD600K would definately mean it was a glider kit. Before the gov't made everyone switch to the 17 digit VIN which is a joke to decipher, the VIN would have been RD folowed by numbers. My '76 R model was a glider kit,and the VIN was R2901.
  8. from 1966 to 1980,the gold Bulldog was used on all Maxidyne powered trucks. It was brought back in the mid '90's on the CL "Elite" editions, and shortly after, put on all trucks with all Mack driveline.Haven't paid much attention to the really new stuff but I'm sure Volvo put an end to that.
  9. Looks like the hinged grille and gullwing bumper, gotta agree with '68 to '70
  10. Pretty sure its a B80 something, thats been re-cabbed with FWD sheet metal. The bumper, radiator guard and front fenders are definately B 80 series.
  11. I'd bet that was the cause of your troubles. When I worked at the local Mack dealer back in high school, they were very careful to always replace the bearings in any engine that went on its side if there was even the slightest doubt it ran while turned over.
  12. This is just a thought, but you said your engine came out of a wreck.By any chance did it run on it's side for a short period of time?
  13. I have a '63 B46,in the attatched pic,it's the one on the left.Body is in great shape,but unfortunately,it doesn't run,the head was off when I got it and it's stuck tight.Heavy front axle and rears,14 speed Quadraplex.I'm pretty sure it was once a mixer chassis.The B46 is a fairly rare B model,only 473 built.
  14. I know I'll have several that dissagree with me,but do not turn up your 865.865's were notorious for head and head gasket problems, and parts for them are almost non-existant any more.If you have one in good running shape, don't mess with it.
  15. Probably have one that will work, unless it's for an L.I know they look the same, are there any differences?
  16. Aluminum frame,Western built 700 series,350 Cummins powered,twin screw tractor.
  17. Tires could be the problem,do you have an OD transmission?
  18. All the B-80 series I've ever seen had the sunken floor, but I really don't see any other difference and don't know why the B42 cab wouldn't work. I like to use a strap to lift the cab. Are you removing the cab from the B42 or did you just find a cab?If you are removing the cab from the B42,don't forget to set the B81 cab back on in its place.
  19. The Cruiseliners were 90" for the big sleeper. Both the short bunk F's and Cruiseliners are really hard to find today. That hi-rise top was an aftermarket kit, can't remember who made them, but they offered them for several brands of trucks.I've seen them on F-models,as well as White Road Commander's and IH 4070's.
