  1. Tires could be the problem,do you have an OD transmission?
  2. All the B-80 series I've ever seen had the sunken floor, but I really don't see any other difference and don't know why the B42 cab wouldn't work. I like to use a strap to lift the cab. Are you removing the cab from the B42 or did you just find a cab?If you are removing the cab from the B42,don't forget to set the B81 cab back on in its place.
  3. The Cruiseliners were 90" for the big sleeper. Both the short bunk F's and Cruiseliners are really hard to find today. That hi-rise top was an aftermarket kit, can't remember who made them, but they offered them for several brands of trucks.I've seen them on F-models,as well as White Road Commander's and IH 4070's.
  4. Well,Trent,I went back and re-read my post 3 times, didn't see once where I mentioned your name or who I bought the $100 worth of butcherd parts that I paid you $350 for, plus 100 gal of diesel it took to get them home. As far as me being a scrap dealer, don't hardly qualify what I do as being a scrap dealer.I pick up old farm junk, appliances, and cars in the little spare time I have when not trucking.Never scrapped a Mack truck, never will. And like I said in an earlier post,if I have to take a part off a B in my back lot,I replace it so the truck can still be whole as possible, and not turned into a pile of dismantled parts, like the trailer loads of parts that I've bought from others that don't share my point of view. As far as my preaching,if it saves one B model,it's worth it to me.If it offends someone,so be it.I'd rather offend a person than harm a Mack. Maybe someday, after you've driven your B model more than 10 miles, you might just understand why I and so many others feel so strongly toward our B's. So go watch Convoy again, then jump in that Cat powered Binder you drive and think up some more good ones.
  5. Only time I ever lost pressure on the boost guage was when my air to air intercooler got a crack in it,did you check that?
  6. I used to have a set of new R model vent assemblies I got at an auction several years ago.I really don't think I ever used them, but can't remember for sure.If I can find which trailer they are in,would you be interested?
  7. My LT was missing it's Bulldog and mount when I got it.Thanks to Ebay my truck is now properly fitted.Never ceases to amaze me the stuff that turns up there if you keep watching.I had to sort thru several listings,as most listed had the old R style mount. Now if I can just turn one up for the W71.
  8. That's the point I was trying to get across,ESD.You say they are too far gone for you to restore, but that doesn't mean they are too far gone for someone else. And who has to say they need to be restored. What's wrong with saving them and leaving them as is?I and many other appreciate the "as found" ones just as much as the 100 point full restorations.I've got quite a few "too far gone" B models happily resting in one piece in my back lot, safe from ever been scrapped or parted out into none existance. What some of you don't realize, the B model Mack isn't just a truck. Each one has it's own personality and charm,no matter what condition it's in.The B model was the hardest working, most dependable and versaltile, and by far the best looking truck ever made. The B model is a legend and deserves our respect. So by all means try to save these trucks, find them a good home,be it in your yard or someone elses, but don't drag them home just to make parts out of them.
  9. I'll be there sometime after I get done hauling for the day.Wife and kids will be there for the whole time with the trucks.
  10. I agree 110% with Block.Way too many B models have died needless deaths already.Just because you don't consider it worthwhile to restore ,doesn't mean it wouldn't be the dream truck of someone else. And just because something is rusty, doesn't mean it should be thrown out either,I've seen perfectly savable cabs, doors, fenders, etc. tossed because they had rust problems.B models were made of real steel.A rusty cab can be repaired, try putting one back together after it's been thru the shredder. They aren't making any more, guys, part them out and they are gone forever.I know I've said this time and time again, but until there is no more scrapping and parting out of old Macks,I'll keep preaching.Tell me,is this how a once proud and complete B model should end up??
  11. This is the B71 I just got,and I have one other, but it is missing the front sheet metal. They only made 522 of them before they were replaced by the B73.
  12. Give us some more details, that's one of the coolest boom trucks I've ever seen.
  13. A little of both, actually. While I truly appreciate a fine restoration,I'm a really big fan of original and "as found" condition trucks too.I hope I live long enough to see some of my better ones restored, but saving them is my main priorty.I truly hate to see a Mack get scrapped or parted.Even when I am forced to take a part from one of my non-runners,I'll replace that part with the one I'm replacing so the truck can remain as whole as possible.Someday, that crusty frame, rusted cab or crumpled fender might look pretty good when there is nothing else available. wish I had some neighbors like you John,I could sure use the extra help.
  14. It's about time to take inventory again, but should be close to 110 Macks, plus about 70 offbreeds.Been bringing them home for close to 27 years now.
  15. I've gotten them in similar condition from free to $500.With the high price of scrap metal, you might have to go as high as $900 if its a tandem.Pics of it would help.
  16. The T2050 and T2060 is .60,T2090,T2130,and T2180 is .71,T2100 is .77 I'd have to get my book out for the rest.
  17. "bubba-term often used as a pejorative meaning low economic status and limited education" Well Dale,I have eaten 3 of the Iowa 80 porkchop dinners in one sitting, which may I add also includes a baked potato, cole slaw and a dinner roll,so I guess that ,plus the fact that I wear bib overalls,I'm from Iowa, and that I'm just a lowly independent trucker makes me one of your "bubbas". But,I've never pulled my truck anywhere I couldn't back out of myself,I don't pee thru a tube so I can drink beer while driving my B model, and don't feel the need to mention drinking in any story I post about adventures with my trucks.Must be my limited education.
  18. Ask Lmackattack,he'll tell you what twin screw means.
  19. When the F's first came out,all the F600's were Mack powered, and the F700's were vendor engine powered, with the exception of the F715 and F719 which were V8 END864 and ENDT864 powered.Somewhere around 1968-69,the 600's were dropped and all became 700's. I might be wrong but I don't think there were ever any Western FS/FL600's,although the 6 cylinder Mack engines were offered in them.
  20. Up until the Maxidynes came out, most all F models had Duplex,Triplex or Quads.I have a '63 F609ST with a newer ENDT673C and 13 speed Triplex,a '67 F611LT with a ENDT673C and 15 speed Triplex, and 2 F715LST's,a '65 and a '67,with END864 V-8's and 15 speed Triplex trannies.I had one other F611ST with a ENDT673C and a 15 speed Triplex, but traded it off on a '76 R model back in '85 when I was young and dumb.I'd bought it at a farm sale for $975 right after my first B61 got burnt up in a fire, and ran it for about 6 months. The engine was pretty tired in it( I had to dump a gallon of oil in it every 100 miles) and Grandpa talked me into trading it off on the R.Shoulda kept it and bought the R outright. The reason most of them you see today have 5 speeds is because there are very few of the early F models left.
