  1. Supposedly, there was only 2 B-61 school busses built for a copper mine in Peru. The pics I have show flat glass windows. The one Matt had, had curved glass. Either way,a very cool piece! Al
  2. James,I think they were not to use the logo as it was. The trucks still have CTC on the door but it is more of a block lettering, kind of generic. The bulk tanks still say CELLI on them, which I believe are still leased from their leasing div.. Storkmack probably has more info on that, being a bulk cement carrier. I wish I could have spent more time with him myself ,to compile more information. He sure was a walking encyclopedia on the Chicago trucking scene and MACK Trucks. Al
  3. Why it was not layed over at that time,is beyond me! I remember that guy on 72,wasn't so lucky. Al
  4. Eugene told me he was taking up drafting many years ago,and designed that logo using the cutouts in one of his protractors to make the angles in the letters. How's that for some trivia? Thats a good idea,Kevin. I'll have to do that. Al
  5. I'm sure it would, James. I would at least like to preserve at least 1 door. I, like you, remember when every other truck was a Celli truck. I often think about doing the '88 in Celli colors to pay homage to the man, Eugene Celli. Al
  6. A friend of mine just dragged this carcass of a Celli bulker home. Looks like some good salvage there. Al
  7. Welcome! You've stopped at the right place. We have expert U model guy (umodelnut) in house. That is when he's not out chasing the girls in upstate New York! Al " Yo, Vinny"
  8. The sharp red/silver CH in the picture along with the BCR,belongs to Buck-A-Dell Farms of Huntley,Il. It is a former Matlack truck. Ron "Re-Run" Behrens drives it. Saturday was the first day this year he had it out of the barn. Said he wanted to run the dust off of it! Al
  9. You have to admire the craftsmanship on these two,if nothing else. Al
  10. I have a few Mid-Liner spec sheets. I would gladly send them to you for the price of the postage. PM me with your address and I'll send them your way. Al
  11. The guy that owns these 2 machines, brought them to Wisconsin Kenworth (at Windsor-suburb of Madison),this past Saturday for an open house/ATHS S.Wisconsin Chapter show. Not my cup of tea,but they did get a lot of attention! Al 4
  12. I can still see Herman Munster hanging on to the back of the coffin car(skitchin'-as we called it) as Grandpa was headed down the strip! Al
  13. Another era gone by. My dad worked in the packaging industry in the '50's -'70's. I remember him working on machines that would be putting milk into plastic jugs ( as we know it today). He came home and told us that soon we could be buying our milk at a gas station. That was 1967. Those Divco's got parked eventually,as we DID buy our milk at a gas station. Some areas continued on a smaller scale, but nothing like it was. I sure do miss the taste of the milk in those glass 1/2 gallon bottles, though. Even though those nasty plastic bottles did put groceries on the table. Al
  14. Pretty nice "yard dog",if you ask me! Al
  15. That would have been an NTA-420,Bill. If I recall they were governed at 2300 rpm's. Cummins also built an NTA-380. Big power at that time! Al
  16. I'm afraid you're right,Kevin. A Hendrickson collecting buddy of mine stopped over there to get some pics of the 3 Hanks sitting there yet among the sea of dumpsters! Al
  17. When Mr. Trump is done with his terms in office, you have my vote to take his place,Tracy! Al
  18. If I remember right, they added the 0 on the end once they started selling the trucks to the drivers (around '73-'74-the Wauconda fleet, anyway). Welcome, Ismall. Please fill in some "blanks" in this great story! Al
  19. From the old C.W. McCall song "Classified"......"outside of that, she's cherry!" Al
  20. Natalie Wood on a B model.......it don't get much better than that! Al
  21. Welcome. You've stopped at the right place! Al
  22. I just gave the specs to MACK Dan,they built the truck! LOL! The Oakville plant was known for putting some of the finest BULLDOG's together. I remember stopping by Steffenhagen's and Gene McNulty told me,"your truck is being built today". Can't remember the exact date. He told me earlier that it was shifted to Canadian production. I said, "perfect,my last one was built there and it was a good truck". Clutch longevity reflects directly to a driver that gives a shit,Dan. That is why that truck is still earning you money. I didn't want to let 'er go to just anyone. I can't count how many times I've heard,"seen your old truck today Al,it's still looking good". Thanks,Dan! Al
  23. I think it could,it would just "snort" a little once you let the clutch out! LOL! Al
  24. Is that you Mr. Schreiber? I was in Chapter 4 for a while and was at Alan's for a few "playdays" myself. Nice truck! Al Rhino
