  1. The drivers that had never driven the MH with the E9500 and were slipped into it for a few runs would always say "when she pulls hard on the hills it sounds like the engine thumps" Most drivers at that time with us had never driven an E9. They had no idea The Whispering Giant had a different sound to it. The ironic part is that the MH with the E9 was far quieter inside then the MH with the E6 we had. We had a very mild muffler on that truck to get the natural sound out of her with those tall exhaust pipes. Some call it a "warble", some call it a "thump", I call it the best damn engine sound I've ever heard......Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I'm waiting patiently for a gentleman who has 2 MH's with E9's to sell them to me. He tells me when he is ready I get first dibbs!!! Until then, I miss that "Thumping" noise.
  2. Your paint scheme reminds me of I think it was a company called Mercury tank lines? from Ontario. I really like the stripes. Like the visor. Looks like a visor that belongs on a Mack, Not like it belongs on some Paccar product.
  3. From the album: More of our Macks

Black wheels were getting weird looking so we "chromed them"

  6. The 1989 E9500 I Miss My MH's! The 1986 E6-350 Love your MH.Cabover withdrawl sucks!
  7. I've heard and read stories of those 2 Titans getting rolled and wrecked constantly. Both trucks were in wrecks as I understand it. Its almost as if those trucks were cursed for them. Should speak to the Titans toughness, not their downfall. Anyone that would buy one of those CAT trucks needs their head examined as far as I'm concerned. Hope they got it for free.
  8. If the pins are loose or there is a bad connection at the injection plug harness connection (big grey plug near pump) That can cause some idle issues. Give the plug a twist and pull. If its faulty it will rev up and down or stall. Wouldn't hurt to Check your TPS (throttle position sensor) input to the ecm.
  9. Epic Trucks! I always loved the "Whispering Giant" name for the E9-500 engines in some sales literature up here in Canada. Was that name used in the U.S. for the E9's as well?
  10. Test drove a 2013 Titan tractor months ago for the heck of it. Double frame 46 rears on air, 20fr, Alum wheels (all), 605hp and fuller 18sp. 242" wheelbase and a 70ton holland fifth wheel. That Friggen thing Tared out at almost 23,000lbs! As per the factory weight door sticker. What a truck!
  11. Most of my electrical problems for either of my MH's traced back to the large silver 30 pin connectors behind the LH head lamps (large deutsch body wiring plugs) Tons of problems with corrosion and (Ontario road salt) getting into connectors. Loose pins as well. I've had signal problems through that plug. If i remeber correctly, are there grounds that come back down through some of those plugs?
  12. Agreed. That Engine was a good one. The early 90's CH's were good trucks.
  13. I agree with Gliders being the answer to our EPA add on crap woes. Up here in Canada, the Government is already talking about closing the loop hole that allows to rebuild into new trucks with Gliders by using pre 2002 EPA emissions. I'm seeing lots of the discontinued Freightliner Argosy cabovers coming up with "rebuilt Series 60 " already installed.
  14. I'm pretty sure the Australian Army's 6wheel drive trucks from the early 80's to the 2000's are built on the North American RM chassis.
  15. The E5 was a rebranded Renault engine slipped into the RD series of the 90's to make it lighter and cheaper for municipal orders. The Engine didn't go over so well and getting parts for the little bastard became a problem. It was the same engine offered in the CM422 with 6 individual cylinder heads similar to the Renault 06.20.30. engines found in early MS/CS 300 series Midliners. I would pass on that one if it is an E5. Not many have seen one, let alone worked on one and parts are none existant.
