  1. It's infuriating and just plain sad that it's getting more common, and is just being pushed harder and harder by all the tech corporations. Youtube is just about unusable without any adblockers now, you get nonstop ads on nearly every video now, and the videos that show up in your feed are usually trash. Facebook is full of AI generated content, probably because the average user doesn't have the same tech/internet experience as someone closer to my age, making it easier to trick them. Everything on the internet as a whole now is intended to attract and capitalize on your attention, and it blows. Spending less time on the internet and more time in reality is much, much better for us as people, I can promise you that.
  2. My favorite videos when I'm in the mood are KT3406E's. That guy is a wizard with Cat motors and is honestly hilarious whether he intends to be or not. His most recent video about getting two 3406E core engines to run after buying from a mine wholesale was really cool to watch. If someone out there posted videos of similar but with Mack, I would absolutely follow it.
  3. That's the kind of news I needed this morning, glad to hear it!
  4. I forget how many there are under there, it depends on the year too. There were usually two part numbers, one ending in a 116, the other 118, that were for different PSI's. My helpfulness kind of comes to an end there...
  5. Happy birthday Joey! Hope to see you at the truck show in Spencer May 9th!
  6. Never driven a semi, but I bought a used Cobra 29 LTD from a yard sale for dirt cheap, and got a truck stop special whip antenna and cable job; mounted the antenna to my crossover box like the previous owner of the box had. Ended up taking the radio to a shop in Knoxville, TN while on a trip since it wasn't working, and got a new mike and tune up. Felt like a real man driving out of the truck stop the shop was in and hitting it up for a radio check, and getting several checks back. I never really used it a whole lot, and the whip got old since I was dragging it in the drive thru line, but it did come in handy on one trip down the I40 gorge to TN. A trooper had pulled a rig just to use his radio trying to redirect traffic away from 40 because a massive hole had opened up on a bridge. I was too far from 77 to jump up that way, so I got sent on a backroads journey through rural Appalachia that to this day I have no clue where I actually was! GPS wasn't working worth a darn, and of course I don't have a physical map, so I just used my noggin and got to TN without I40 lol. The CB quit working years ago now, I've been wanting to redo the setup now I have a different truck and a greater appreciation for trucking, maybe I'll add it to my ever-increasing list of things to do.
  7. Could be brake demand switches by the brake pedal, had several instances where they would fail and cause similar symptoms.
  8. Yeah, I won't be much help anymore. My contact at the dealership isn't as savvy at finding parts for modified Macks like I was...
  9. My 80+ VIN list strikes again! Try old number 48RU2341, new number 25152307.
  10. I sent the part number to my buddy at the dealership, maybe he can find the number for you. No luck, maybe with a VIN but the old Mack support has left with me...
  11. The cams are different, I remember there being different cams for no-engine brake, Jacobs/JTECH, and Powerleash.
  12. I'll have to make another rain check this year. Been wanting to go, but it's just too far out of my range to easily handle and would cost more in fuel than I need to spend right now.
  13. I will say that I did see a couple 1990 model trucks with E6's from the factory, I have a couple VIN's saved on my Old Macks spreadsheet. One is a Candian 1990 RB690SX with the EM6 300 in it, the other a 1991 RD688SX with the E6 350. Your truck may have come with that E6 stock.
  14. I had never found one that worked during my tenure at the dealership, Volvo's software was really good at sniffing out aftermarket exhaust sensors every time.
  15. Yep, $6/gal in eastern NC too. Makes me cry every fill up ( not really, but I want to )...
  16. My super duper mega ULTRA professional opinion on this whole Iran dance/Operation Epic Fury is as follows: I just want my diesel prices to go back down please. Pretty please?
  17. Hate to hear that. My uncle sold my grandparents' home for a mere fraction of what it was worth, likely because he just wanted it gone, made me and my family pretty upset with him. I have a good friend with a massive gun collection that asked me to work with his wife in the event of his passing to make sure nothing is sold at a loss, because people absolutely will rip off a grieving widow to get something they want. I will say though that I can understand wanting to get rid of something a deceased loved one's, it hurts to see it if constantly reminds you of them.
  18. They hadn't dropped support entirely when I was there, but they certainly seemed to be trying to phase it out a little. For instance, your camshaft is likely no longer offered from Mack, but the lifters probably are. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for what gets obsoleted like there is for Volvo, where I told customers that anything fifteen years and older would be tough to get parts for.
  19. Thanks for the well wishes everyone, first day went well, here's to many more. Hope to see a couple of you at the truck show at the NC Transportation Museum in May!
  20. Is this for American Truck Sim? I play that from time to time, with mods for Mack R's and Superliners of course. Definitely interested to learn more about this mod if so!
  21. Today was my last day at the dealership, very bittersweet. I saved my list of old truck VINs, which hit 81 before the end, last of which was a 1991 Superliner II with a mechanical E7. Customer wanted rear hood bushings. I'll still be around here for as long as I can operate a computer! Long live Mack trucks.
  22. The others can probably tell you more on how the engine runs and performs, but I'll tell you what I know as a parts guy: The EGR system gets expensive if you end up needing to replace anything. The EGR temp sensors are probes made into the "mass-flow" tube, meaning you have to replace the whole tube if one of the probes goes bad. The cooler itself is usually unavailable from Mack, but we've had good experience with TamerX in the past with reman coolers. The valve goes back and forth on availability as well. Not sure how reliable the EGR is on these trucks to be honest, I just know it gets tough when it's time to load the parts cannon. The turbo can be a little finnicky from what I've gathered, so I'd be sure to keep up with the maintenance on that funny filter I posted about. The other guys will have more knowledge than me, I can only parrot what I've read here.
  23. Built in October 2004, built with an ASET AC-427 w/ T310 10spd. Has Mack CRD92/93 rears, 4.42r. Camelback suspension, looks like the model that you need to keep greased. If you don't know, the AC series ASET motors is the one with an EGR valve, EGR cooler, and the VGT with an air filter on the driver's side of the block below the oil filter housing.
  24. I remember seeing an older Jeep truck (post-Willis) at a car show a while back, not something I see too often around here at least. Always liked the idea of a Jeep truck, but the Gladiator just doesn't look good enough for me to like them.
  25. I have been told the Volvo cabs are very comfortable and spacious, so there is a plus to the redesign. I haven't really been inside one to form my own opinion, only parroting what I've been told by my techs!
