  1. Turn up the RPM is the fastest way. Maybe not the best way.. I imagine the valves will float around 3200, so don't go that far! Higher gear ratio in rears, taller OD in transmission, bigger tires, or combination of all.
  2. Neat truck. I'm trying to figure out that manifold...
  3. Would you be willing to ship it?
  4. Hi Guys. I am in need of some door guts for a L model. Some junk doors with good guts would be great. Also I would like to find a cherry passenger side fender for the same truck. Mine is solid but hacked out for the air cleaner... Eight one four 598-8814 Bob
  5. I guess me being an owner operator I sure as heck wouldn't have just stood off the side and watched... A company in town had a 3406 do this and the ECM read 4800 before it quit reading, and went faster before it puked. Thought the valves would have floated first.
  6. Yes hundreds, Could deliver as well!
  7. How much work do you want to do on one? I have a B61 single axle with a 673 I believe and a duplex. It ran to where I put it a couple years ago. Ran good. Fenders are rough, but are fixable and the rest of cab needs work, but isn't junk. If interested I'll get pictures and figure up a price. Bob
  8. Willy, Thanks for putting pictures up of the truck and tractor. Thanks for the comments of truck and tractor. The tractor is soaking to get some things freed up. It was a good trip and the air compressor on the truck puked its guts out about 50miles after we got home on the paying job! The tractor is the only one like it that is known of. It has a Hercules HXE gasoline engine, 935 cubic inches as a matter of fact. Its in good shape really, engine is stuck but not too badly I don't think. Tracks are good. It ended up being an Emsco blade, which I haven't seen very many of either. Mike your friend's name isn't Jim by chance is it? Bob You think Kelly could get all caught up by 2113?
  9. Yes, location would be very helpful. Bob
  10. A JXC would work for him as well, only difference is a little less horsepower. Call Bill Bechthold in Lodi California. He has quit a batch of Cletracs / Olivers and knows where there are others for parts. Don't have his number right off, but if you do a yahoo search he'll come up Bob
  11. No tag on it, but I believe it is a 16618
  12. I've got 2 Eaton Fuller 18 speed transmissions. Both are good. One is in truck, you can hear it work before you buy. One out has a Cat bellhousing. Would like $2250 each, but best offer considered. I believe model numbers are 16618 Eight one four 598-8814 Bob Located in Bradford, Pa
  13. Dad has a Mack font drive axle and the rear axles to match. Bud wheels They were under a B81 I guess. Actually hes got a 285 with the trans and transfer case to go with.
  14. Thanks, The way I understand it is that the outside part of the coax is the ground. I know quite a few CB guys say the antenna must be grounde and what not, but Dad has an antenna that is not grounded on a pickup and it works very well. Did some quizing of a couple friends today and they seem to think it has to do with the AMFM antenna being on the roof and cophasing, and the stronger one takes over.. In reality there seems there is more to CBs than just hooking up wires and tuning the antenna... Bob
  15. My Superliner has over the years has come to let the CB talk over the AM FM radio. If you turn up the dynamike to get out, it squeals like mad, thru the AM FM speakers. The cab is grounded good. All new coax to the CB antenna. It does it with the "big radio" or my stock Cobra 29. It has gotten worse the past couple months. Wondering if anybody else has ran across this problem? It has been quite a pain in the ass messing around and have gotten nowhere. Bob
  16. Trans. is still availible, Comes with bell from a newer Autocar, and shift tower, well its more for a plug to keep the dirt out, but its there
  17. I have an eaton fuller 18 speed tranny that needs a home. I swapped it out for one with a higher OD. This one is fine, sounded very well and shifted fine. $3500 obo located in Bradford, Pa 814-598-8814
  18. Bout time we get some good out of you Phildirt... You coming over with Mark tomorrow?
  19. Head bolt torque specs stick in my mind at 300 foot pounds. I used a torque multiplier, 4:1 set wrench at 90lbs equals 360 minus 10 to 15% for drag... Rocker boxes are like 75 foot pounds, same as Jake parts.
  20. Honestly, I didn't find it that difficult. I did it for the first time a couple months ago. I used the torque method to set the injectors. Torque method and indicator method are quite different. (valve clearances as well) Have to do it on the firing order. 153624. Use the timing marks on accessory drive. ABC, should be. Turn the engine over by the accessory drive, its easiest. Way I did it was 1 do valves at .011 and .024 I believe, and 72 inch pounds for injectors (if not mistaken). Then same for 5 ect ect. Thats how I did mine and it runs very well. As far as Jake, do it with engine running. as soon as you feel screw hit rocker, back it off turn and a half. Hope it helps. Bob
  21. Laughing, No I haven't ran it on gasoline, although, I have heard of people that have tried with catastrofic failure! But it is a question that had to be asked Another friend brought up timing. I haven't done anything to it, but doesn't mean something isn't worn enough to let it be out enough. I will definately check the boost, something I hadn't really thought of. I don't let pyro go over 1000, but I suppose it could be hotter in the cylinders than after turbo.
  22. I sure hope thats all. I hope with everything new things will be back to normal. I ordered a complete inframe kit with the Dynatard rebuilt kit too from PAI. It was $1400 all together. Thought that was fair enough Bob
  23. I've pulled the rear head on my W900A and its no big deal, and I think the Superliner would have more room. Hopefully you don't have to pull any but... Whats the Water bottle test? I have never heard of that
  24. Hi All, I have an E6 3504 valve in my Superliner. It has been a very reliable engine, until recently. It has had the gray smoke coming out the pipes for a while now, and knew it was about time. In January I was coming down over a hill when it started knocking. Then the knocking quit and I drove it until I could get off road. Ended up going home tearing it apart to find a melted looking piston and bent valve on #5. I just stuck one piston in it, a set of injectors and one reman PAI head. The injection lines were seaping from the head, where they meet the injectors. I ordered new lines to put on. In this time it started having quite a bit of crankcase pressure and smoked out of the breather, smelled just like diesel. I also noticed the oil became thin and smelled like fuel. I was putting out of the woods and it started knocking on me again last week. I feared the worst, but the noise quit and I drove it home. It didn't run right. We thought it was a fuel knock that went away. I put the new lines on and changed the oil. Nothing was better. #4 dead. Took head off only to find #4 piston damaged severly. #6 looks funny like it will be next. I am planning on doing a complete inframe this time. But question is; What is going on with the melted looking pistons ect? I've had this truck for 7 years or so, and put many miles on it and never even a glimmer of a problem with the engine, or really anything. I have done nothing to "hop it up" because I didn't want problems and heard 350s didn't hold up it you messed with them. I don't know how many miles are on engine. It shows 600k on odometer. Engine has tag where it was remacked in '90. I don't want it to mess up again in a couple months. Any ideas? Bob
