I am no expert on this but I remember the OEs designing the system to be "tamper proof". The computer senses some backpressure so if one removes the filter it will throw a code and possible derate because the BP is too low. Again, no expert but this is what I remember from my "working days".

The car has a synchronized transmission. Easy to do. I would like to see her shift a non-synchro tranny. BTW, too much eye makeup.
