Thanks for posting! Interesting article. The article mentions A&B Mack; Chambersburg, PA. A&B Mack is no longer in business but that is where my MH and other MHs at Martin's were purchased. The old A&B building is near Martin's (you can see Martin's building behind the garage).

True, 1:1 is a direct straight thru without any gears or loss. Overdrive uses a gear set (drive loss) to obtain a 0.73 or ??? ratio (potentially more wear on gears and bearings). I also agree, you need to run a fast axle ratio (low number) but it does not work very well in hills or off-road. I have a friend who managed a mid-Western fleet and ran 10speed directs because he achieved better fuel mileage

Thanks for the information on RED coolant. I knew it is extended life but that is all. Where can I purchase 50/50 red coolant? Since the fleet used RED coolant, is that the reason the coolant conditioner filter was removed from my EM7? Will I do harm if I install a filter?

Brent, Nice engine (and Mack). Been to Chambersburg show at Twin Bridges many years ago when they hosted the International Cockshutt Club. Nice show grounds. I will have to put your show on my 2014 calendar and try to attend.

Red in my EM7-300. Use coolant recommended for a Diesel engine. Coolant color varies by brand and EL (extended life). Your engine should have a coolant conditioner filter in front of the thermostat housing.

As a kid, I remember a few of these plow trucks in PA. It seemed these were put in service after a big snow storm or blizzard. I always thought they were an awesome sight pushing thru big snow drifts. And IIRC, it took two (2) persons to run it. One drove the truck and the other operated the plow. Somewhere I have a B&W photo of one in front of the homestead. I think the PA greenstamp had several of these trucks too. -

Going to look at the CF at 10a today (Friday 13th). Bid is now $4000 and reserve not met. I am out but still going to look at it since it is about 30 miles north of my house in Canton. It is sitting inside at one of their "closed" stations.
