  1. Dave, MH is spring rear suspension. Trailer is in Altoona already! Dang I need to get my A$$ in gear!!!
  2. Good lookin' flyer Barry! I marked my calendar.
  3. Pics definitely bring back memories. Thanks again and again.....
  4. From Light and Medium Duty Truck Magazine May 8, 2013 Detroit Diesel Corp. is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2013, the company announced. Founded as the General Motors Diesel Division, the company produced its first engine in March 1938. Today, the company, now known simply as Detroit, has a product portfolio that includes engines, transmissions and axles. Among the company’s product milestones are the Series 60 diesel, which was launched in 1987 and remains in production today. The one-millionth version of the engine was sold in 2009, Detroit said. “The Series 60 is an important part of our history,” said Brad Williamson, manager, engine and component marketing for Daimler Trucks North America. “It was the first production engine to have integrated electronic controls as a standard feature.” The company officially changed its name to Detroit Diesel Corporation in 1988 as part of a joint venture between Penske Corporation and General Motors. In 2000, it was acquired by truck and engine maker Daimler AG.
  5. Received an email from ODFL...trailer is in Indy and should be in Altoona Thursday or Friday. I may swing by and take some pics this weekend. Need to get my ass butt in gear and get the MH ready to roll next week. I just hope the air lines and cable on my MH are okay. Stopping by Watt's on Wednesday and getting new gladhand seals. Received the title and inspection papers today (Tuesday).
  6. I guess sideways pics are better than no pics....maybe... 2341 - at least you will not have to recharge the A/C.
  7. JT - nice nice nice!!!! Tires are likely flat spotted from sitting so long. Check them for dry rot. Good luck and keep us posted of your progress. Again....nice find!!!
  8. Nice looking sidewinder. I like the color combination.
  9. David - good point about the lines. I will have to look at the right side. The MH has dual tanks and I was thinking about removing the right tank and installing a step toolbox. Someone suggested I keep the tank. If I keep the tank, I could install steps like the left side. I already have a deck plate and I think I saw a handrail attachment. Good suggestions....nice of you to spend my money!
  10. JT, You are making progress. The air brakes will not release until you build up minimum pressure until then it will keep "popping out". Don't quote me but I think it is 60-70 psi. A major air leak will definitely keep you from building pressure. Someone on here mentioned the air compressor governor, that could be stuck (governor regulates 90-120psi). Did you have oil pressure?
  11. Welcome back! The bonfire explains the "warm" weather. I need to light one off too.
  12. Nice lookin Mack.
  13. Yes, what do you have in mind?
  14. Somehow I don't think the instructions would be concerning trailer hookup...perhaps another hookup instead.
  15. Thanks again everyone for all the trailer hookup instructions and grease info. I think I am ready to give it a try. David - a door in the front would be a good idea. Then I would not need stairs or ladder.
  16. I never looked. I just thought it looked different. Makes sense especially with heavy haul.
  17. How high should the front of the trailer be in relation to the fifth wheel? In other words when backing under the trailer, where should the front of the trailer make initial contact with the fifth wheel? Thanks again for all the instructions.
  18. Is that the steering box on the RH frame rail? Never saw that before.
  19. Happy Birthday
  20. And the silver series was "supposed" to have the oil leak issues resolved. Guess not. JT - As for the wife...you know the saying about a new house....you going to "break-in" the General?
  21. Nice pics as always Tom. I like the blonde.
  22. I don't care for those hood mounted mirrors either. They look like bug antennas. Prefer the fender mounted ones too.
  23. I have severe duty polyurea grease that I use for the farm tractors and equipment. Is that okay to use?
  24. JT not sure if I will be ready to "tent' in Macungie. I prefer a nice bed and shower but eventually I plan to build living quarters over the fifth wheel. But you know about "best laid plans". I should have enough furniture pads to make a nice bed. I need to get a walk-in door installed on the side so I don't get locked in. Anyone know where I can buy a door and where to get it installed? RV dealer?
