Thanks everyone for your comments. Yesterday I received an envelope with additional paperwork from the dealer. A new inspection sticker was included. At least I do not have to concern myself until April 2014.

There is a DOT exemption for vehicles used for personal/private/not-for-hire use - FMCSA 390.3(f)(3). Does anyone know if I need to have a FMCSA inspection on the trailer? How much (ball park cost) does an inspection cost?
