  5. Keith, This is the stand i'm using.. It is perfect.. Unfortunately it belongs to the man, who's engine is on it.. This picture is from today.. I hope to be able to buy this stand or one just like it.. It's an oldie, but it's a Damn Goody !!
  6. Many good points about protecting the crank shaft.. I had the good fortune of having the engine on a stand, so the crank was out when I did my work.

  11. Buddy,,, it's moving too fast... engine designs are changing frequently and with more complicated ideas.. I have been away from the dealership for 5 years and I feel like I know absolutely nothing about Diesel engines.. I'm just glad I can come here and chat about the older ones and learn, even if it's by my mistaken postings.. I say 'To Hell 'with Ceramic parts.. yeah I know that ceramic rollers on OHC diesels has been around a long time, but I dont care.. I'm an in-line 6 pushrod guy.. Jojo
  12. there is a machine shop in Charlotte that said they could ceramic coat the old pistons for re-use.. we opted out, but I would love to see them installed and see it run, for a couple years..
  13. just curious, do you not have 4 or is it 8,,, larger diameter studs at the ends of the heads?

  15. I know that one of the END's I took apart had one piece pistons that were longer with more rings. But I think I put updated 2 pc. pistons in... I dont know why I am forgetting.. As you can see,, for me the old pistons are good for pencil holders..
  16. What is the condition of the studs, they can be re-used. You have 2 different stud diameters.
  17. I didnt look at any numbers.. I was thinking about blasting them and then wipe them with varsol.. and putting them in a clean box.
