    Ok.. did you put new orings in the shift fork assembly

    Is the snapring in the center of the synchro installed or broken. If it is left out, it will only shift once, and then you have to go back in to the rear box.

    Have you unhooked the air compressor intake pipe, to see if the noise is the compressor?

    Did voltage go up when it was running? In the past, when we had a major voltage drop, I would take a separate battery and ground it to the truck, then connect the positive to the EECU fuse socket, with the fuse installed. If the truck fired up, it would indicate a bad starter.. the starter was pulling too many volts.. as far as a miss, not sure yet, I assume valves were adjusted recently?

    Brings back memories.. I did a year and a half in some old Macks for a construction company in Scarborough Maine.. I hauled salt to a bunch of municipalities.. Cool pic's.. jojo

    We are supposed to have 50 MPH + winds over the next day and a half.. Here is what I do for added security.. I figure a 4,500 lb fork lift should hold it.. Is that Redneck enough for ya ? Just havin some fun.. jojo

    I dont miss it either. I only ran I-81/88/90/80... and so-on for a little over 2 years.. I'm more of a mechanic than a driver..

    You Need to be careful Mech,, That Kung Flu can kill you.. Keep warm the best you can. I remember those winters,, have to go out every couple hours to move snow..

    It has a high cieling, but it is only 22'x40'... it suits me well.

    yes. pistons loaded and heads on.. I do a little bit after work as many days as I can, then on the weekends I do a bunch more. I dont have all the parts I need, so it is a slow process..

    Yep,, If I do my generator tank, I bet I will have to tie my el-cheapo mixer down, or maybe put my fork lift forks down on the legs, to keep it from flipping over.

    could be, but it looks like its parked on 2 different grades, look at the hump in the ground under the fuel tank.. still a cool truck..

    yes, pull the valve covers, certainly wouldnt hurt to drop the oil pan. if you have lifter issues there will likely be bits in the pan. you describe the sound as a clicking. so it is not popping back into the intake or ''poof poof poof'' out the exhaust? is the oil level raising up, and /or is the oil diluted with fuel. you can do a simple 'halo' test on a piece of cardboard to see if the oil is diluted.

    it wouldnt hurt to check lash again,, have you ever run the rack on an ASET-I or C engine? Just curious.. It is not the same as Earlier Macks, Cat or John Deere, for example.. Jojo
