never gave thought to door removal , guess when your younger the body has more flex to it . that's where the phrase "do now pay later "comes in . I made up a cradle bracket to mount on the transmission jack . made life safer when removing the top heavy tri shaft units. 1 1/2 channel iron welded together went 1/2 way up sides . sure hope first time ever the jobs NOT being done alone; there is a helper. that's a lot of very heavy parts to man handle. like a brake job when younger ++ "heck I can lift those drums " ! that flywheel isn't "heavy" when it's the first one . 50 yrs and many flywheels later. ???? unless the plan is to do many clutches ; I would attempt to borrow/ rent needed tools . rear seal installer can't be cheap nor a GOOD jack. doing a Mack first is also a challenge ; unlike "other brands" having rear mounts on the bell housing making life easier .

had a set such as those on my '77 F-350 when they FIRST came out!! I know ;don't remind me ==I'M OLD.

after market or search for a parts truck for donor. to stretch one would either be take two ;do a chop/channel or one heck of a fiberglass man (person; sorry) to glass a perfect extension. finding a donor would still be $$$$. shipping/ rework etc. guessing the truck for an extended hood would be a 700 needing a hood and you have a 600 hood donor ?

I will check my "parts department " in the am; might still have a spare 300 plus engine with top mounted tip turbine fan. bought many parts back in the late 70's- early 80's from A I M : late Jim Etter in PA. also bought from Late Dave Natale AITM in NJ. resin cast in 1/25th scale. took a little modifications to make the 300fit . challenge was making alll the intake piping. built an R-600 for a customer. todays world only a couple of people make 1/24-1/25th scale parts most of which are 3-D printed not resin castings. have a couple of builds in progress now which I ended up buying 2 or 3 other scale models to get parts I needed.

if your going to print that picture and make Christmas cards , put me down for 2 boxes. 🙂. not to sound like a scrooge, based on past experiences with drivers putting REAL wreathes on front of radiator; the heat dries out the bristles and radiator sucks them in to core. plastic wreathes not as bad, real wreathes were allowed at bumper height. just sayin. excellent picture.

small center punch make random divots on bottom side of valve covers ; using light film of high tack between valve cover and rubber gasket held gasket in place, NOT silicone but high tack(if it's still manufacture). with the small punch marks on cover the gasket didn't have a 100% smooth surface to slide out.

original was a very old post; proper answer may have been easier knowing transmission model. 6 speed maxi first came out it was made into a 10 speed by many drivers. worked just wasn't recommended. low/direct/reverse on aux stick. 5 reverse but the low was for first start out only; cording to engineers. first low geared for off road applications

within the realm of common sense of course. many variables ; what's being pumped/dumped /moved by pto operation. time will tell what rpm works best . in a hurry for a cold one you decide to flat line the rpms to speed up pto ; could be a negative result.

only one stick needs to be neutral so unit doesn't attempt take off when clutch released. also one in gear is easier for movement after pto needed.

time killing on craigslist under mack truck title ; appears to be a B-model Mack out west area having a 3 stick combo. supposably earliest (first ?) B made. bounced so many states don't remember which one . went to far side of country due to fact same posts are in every area close by.

I would be in agreement the PTO was changed over to rear mount. dash instructions seem to refer to side mount. as with older PTO's the pto speed is determined by engine rpm's. truck is used by others , might want to cover or replace instructions with proper matching one.

pay attention to the part that reads ; may contain up to 3% retained water! they fill it with water to up the weight and price.???? "pure turkey ingredient?

kinda vague question if I say so myself. no offence but same as asking "what kinda mustard do I put on a hot dog ! 67R was correct in asking "what will it be used for ?" too many variations of gears/ ratios . possible need a rear mount constant power verses side mount .

the change over from screw plugs to drive in was more a manufacturing change. more then likely it was a cost cutting change, swore at many screw plugs when installing block heaters, some of which (with magnet close by ) had to be drilled in half to remove. drive in made life easier ; I didn't have much faith in the block heater style when installed in drive in port. I left Mack in summer of '75 the drive in plugs had been showing up before that.

don't know of a more accurate precise written history of a vehicle over such long time period ;; it's total life. amazing. THANK YOU
