  1. SORRY for YOUR loss, Bob . unfortunately ;; I'm in same situation at the moment. three funerals in last month. one took my get up and go . how did you make out with the modified exhaust?? . challenge of the hood would send me scouting for another one and use this one for spare time retirement project.
  2. the prep days before / no sleep for days during ; and the clean up for days after, remember it well. being young . gong ho : made it through. do it again today as ole man ==Never happen. clean up days after when sun finally showed up for me was the fun part. the TD 20 finally made it's way back from across town opening roads . I spent much time with the 20 pushing snow into the river as trucks hauled snow in. restaurant owner came over to me asked if I would clean his parking lot. said push snow by that pile in back. so I did . up over the pile the 20 went , made huge tall pile of snow. spring time revealed "the pile" was what was left of a car driven over by a TD 20 dozer!!
  3. now as we all sit in the senior citizen homes :: look at all the memories WE have . LOL if lucky enough the younger generations that feel sorry for US old folk will think::"they lost their memory =what are tire chains"
  4. basically like most it comes down to one major factor ;;is the price vs interest worth it?? asking price/ shipping to repair location / available $$$'s // time to restore.??
  5. blizzard of '78 in CT . mounted V-plow AND chains on all wheels of road grader; mount flood lights for round the clock snow removal. TD -20 dozer left the garage headed down the main road worked it's way to other side of town . operator 48hrs no sleep nor did the dozer have full cab ;;we did a make -shift enclosure.
  6. how is it a valuable piece of history to Most females is to be considered junk BUT all the trinkets around the house and chotkeys are thought to be needed?? please pay attention to statement MOST females ==NOT ALL . imin trouble with one female right now ;;; don't want a riot in this yard
  7. cross braces are not unusual for B's ; without a doubt there is a lineup situation with fan vs shroud ;; could be one of many items. main point to consider is :: are enough truck/ parts vs dollar in question worth asking price,?? after purchase/shipping/ rebuild how far in debt would buyer be ?? major restoration looking at rotten floor panels . obvious not all parts original . broken mounts ? flex hose used for radiator inlet/ outlet. all in all the 75 is one fine looking truck. days at waterbury Mack Trucks myself and another mechanic /wrecker driver did our darnest to convince owner to replace the old '57 diamond-T wrecker chassis with a trade in Mack B-75 .;; NO way would he. ended up with a B-61 with 10 uni-shift. was still nicer then the ole '57 T.
  8. where did 5:50 go that you are in question of ???
  9. one of three painted yellow?? the list is endless. main factor ;;truck condition vs price dollar value vs practicality . if you only search for rare go to a steak house. it's more toward keeping history alive at a price and interest you have
  10. we are all getting older enjoy ;;;;; and respect EVERY minute You have ' because You NEVER know when it's Your last . the Heavens received an Angel yesterday 😭😭
  11. your both sick puppies and so great full to have "met "you both. I have to attend a burial of my favorite angel of a sister-in - law tomorrow . sort a shit housed right now, PLEASE EVERYONE DON'T NEGEGLET SPENDINGING TIME WITH THOSE YOU LOVE !! NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE GONE .
  12. some have/had the sound similar to a shaking of spray paint rattle can,
  13. can remember seeing pictures and literature of them back in the day ; don't think east coast was a prime spot for their sales .. it's always a good day when seeing another piece of history saved. specially when that piece says MACK on it!
  14. a slide clutch in backwards. it's time to walk away /take a break and have cup of coffee or ==. been there dun that . the frustration of what's wrong will cause "confusion" on the thought process ; walk away and come back SOMETIMES helps . in going through the gears are we talking of top covers off and manually moving sliders or shifting with covers on?
  15. I know that one == originally G & L truck, that's why it's different in fleet picture. based on topic of RB having recessed head lights /set back axle (I'm confused LOL) ;; this picture is a DM
  16. with the statement "it will go crazy", is this soon as things are plugged in = or when unit is moving ? does it happen with key off ??
  17. Teflon plates will work properly IF the two units =truck/trailer are mated "permanatly". swapping truck// trailers defeats the purpose of Teflon. entire fleet Teflon with trailer swaps ;; I can't answer . if your truck had/has teflon and it is being hooked to other trailers having grease on them = remove the teflon. the grease/ grit will chew up the teflon. damage done to teflon then just keep running .
  18. this will be a redneck thought ;; instead of a cement mixer for large tanks ; with all the safety procedures followed is it possible to use a big truck with one set wheels jacked up . having tank VERY securely to tires and slowly spin ?? would be easier to strap tank to set of tires and doubt the truck will tip over.. even if you spin it by hand ???
  19. safety comments should NEVER be disregarded whether job today or next year. have seen the face of a "mechanic" that :"I thought it was clean enough. after tank ripped apart.
  20. original post stated 6-8 inches of play;; that's seems excessive. I would assume the play is engine running system up to pressure. there was =don't remember which one had a system with way excessive play WHEN SYSTEM SHUT OFF.
  21. for the most part the hyd set up is same as air-o=matic which operated on same principle. air cyl clamped to tie rod always wore out giving unsteady turning .. memory is not 100 % ; to remove the steering box on some B's pop steering wheel center cap remove 15/16th ?? nut attaching inner steering shaft to steering wheel ? inner shaft will come out with steering box ?? if the spring in the control valve is broke don't thing hand pressure will show it. not sure .
  22. 84 east ; it's easier to go further to 19 or 20 for route 8 NORTH. it's called the mix=master not sure if 19 s north or south. not 19 it's 20. ones right exit other is ct's famous left exits. rte 8 north two ? exits up to exit 37 = watertown 262. 3 miles from 84??? 15 is an alternative if your looking for food etc.
  23. Cortland is 4 hrs north from here and in those 4 hrs of driving you are going back to civilization where people smile say good day etc. with the shape this worn out body is in , I will agree =snow /snow /snow NOT for me. mentioned to wife yesterday how unusual it felt to listen to forecast of blizzard knowing I should have been able to sleep in. didn't happen at least I slept (somewhat) in a bed last night , NOT on front seat of company vehicle not having a plow waiting for next broken unit. back then rule of thumb == long as the storm lasted forget any sleep. may have mentioned the story of chasing down a skid steer having broke axle hub during blizzard sidewalk cleaning. no place to connect ground=I held ground clamp on wheel stud (during blizzard) wet coveralls laying on ground. I struck an arc and lit up like a Christmas tree. one storm heading to unit down ; had to actually plow town road with truck. seeing disable out from the right two kids on those silver disc came down hill : i almost ran them both over.. I DON'T MISS THOSE DAYS NOW/or the snow
