  1. such a loss. east coast was always Mack country in the day. to see a western Mack roll in had all eyes staring. they just had a "Look" beyond the working mack appearance. remember seeing my first aluminum frame rails on a western; " nope it's gonna break " LOL . DM triple steel frame and here's this alum.
  2. Thanks for update; latest pictures look good .
  3. not as a pat on my back; i still stop and salute the few remaining WWII Veterans. another group of "first responders" forgotten. back of my jeep has three full size decals saluting the Veterans. went to get a burger other day , this WWII veteran "walks" in with his girlfriend = both 91 yrs old. such a positive picture. i asked the waitress for their bill and paid it . asked not to say who did it but she told them. He and his girlfriend were the happiest couple. told my wife " i just got the best birthday present ever. and He returned the salute i gave him😂
  4. i know some where in those 900+ text you have the wheelbase and body length . thought easier just to ask what they are; thanks ... work is looking amazing.
  5. i don't remember seeing you "in my yard " behind the 8-ball. think mine are off welfare for now. 3 children for the youngest and idiot talks of 4 . he was 250-300lbs.
  6. oldest daughter is EMT had a number of bad, fatal accident calls.had one she had to go in the woods pull parts off a tree kids missed a turn . i worry of the mental situations the first responders face. now she is a police dept dispatcher. thought it would be better; won't know . THANK YOU to ALL first responders😇
  7. your NOT alone in that subject. it's like the '50s/'60TV show ;;dragnet== only the names have been changed to protect the "innocent" . had high hopes for daughter #2; great with theater; medical. figured she would support me in later yrs=nope. he's an ass---
  8. THANK YOU to all for the positive birthday messages. tjc are you sure your not looking at my x-rays!!LOL ,DRs showed me my xrays of 2 knees/2 hips and spine; comment he made was "see all those dark areas"? I said yes. reply was "there's suppose to be something in there!!!" how the he-- are you standing/walking.. I said ==thick headed Polak i guess.. LOL. they won't do the knees before the hips, and i told them NO one is touching my back.. SO TO ALL YOU YOUNGSTER out there TAKE CARE OF THE BODY YOU HAVE.
  9. MANY THANKS finding these forums and "knowing" those who wrote them has given me a wonderful "birthday present" .to see so many of the younger folks still interested in old iron is the best. age is just a number; today it must be the humidity or the cordo shots in the knees is wearing off;LOL .. sure feel the age today. THANK YOU
  10. the real"fun" is doing a rear tire on a farmall M tractor' and don't forget it's loaded with calcium.. oh the good old days .. no fancy machines just the tire irons, glad it was only the one bad tire..
  11. thanks for adding the web site. nice part of this auction ; it's not about the truck , just a lot of good stuff.
  12. another pass it on auction. not associated with me . there is an auction by Jaquier auctions ; 5-8==5-17. on line items located in manchester CT. main interest is a '69 R685t. not best of shape. bid start at $400.00 .. also Mack items lot #291-294; lot 202 a Mack radio ; never saw one like that. lot of stuff for the "do it yourself builder" ... i'm not a computer wizz haven't figured how to add web sites yet;; LOL
  13. OH :: the good ole days!!😁. the B's had "AC". the 2/45 AC. == open two vent windows all the way and get above 45 mph, the big mystery is how could anyone drive a B model without a USB plug !!!
  14. when the "compression" rings are new they work same principal as piston rings on a piston , hold the adapter flange tight in turbo / exhaust elbow. piston rings hold piston secure in cyl.
  15. i would be more concerned with cracking the flange trying to remove the rings. destroying the rings is a close sure shot. reason earlier post mentioned soaking the flange . have been able to soak; remove; clean the rings and reinstall. there isn't any movement on the flange unlike a piston ring. exhaust rings freeze in place. saving the ozone has gotten rid of a lot of good products (chemicals) for things like penetrating oils.
  16. material may not be exact but the piston ring will take the heat, and expand for sealing the pipes. shaped different also these rings will be square cut. piston rings have a inner taper.
  17. in todays world . possibly a speed shop : give up on auto parts . some one dealing with engine building might be able to match the rings. they are basically the solid rings of a car piston. be brave and daring ;LOL , contact a Mack dealer for availability of proper rings long shot they are still out there , slightly bigger if the two flanges are worn like most
  18. cut top off gallon jug/ or empty paint can. 3/4 full of best penetrating oil you can find; ( not much around any more). let things soak. that flange WILL crack easy if hammered too much , HOW DO I KNOW !!! yep been there done that...
  19. when/if you remove them ; don't discard. they work well for top of transmissions;; lines, accy etc hold down brackets. LOL . the wired flywheel bolts = another : OH ya I remember those also.
  20. for as many of those spacers i removed/ installed; it took this forum and 50 yrs later to find out why they were used. no one in the day knew or cared why they were there.
  21. pin hole/leak in line from governor to unloader won't let compressor "unload".
  22. BIRTHDAY BEST from Connecticut.😃
  23. another just passing it on : auction Saturday =4/30/22 . located in Neapolis ,OH. listed in auctionzip by Whalen realty & auctions. titled under John Deere tractors-toys-engine auctions. a B61T with QUAD looks not bad shape hooked to era proper trailer. also a number of Mack items= first gear etc.
  24. right on with the "piston ring" sealing factor. three pieces went together and sealed with the steel rings.
  25. on a 60/70 ton BEAM lowbed ; what size is the beam? with the 1/25 scale beam lowbed i'm building  i'm figuring on a 3/4-7/8 beam which should be 18-22 in.  in real scale. am i close?
