  1. My mentor at the shop told me he had a design for a PLN jake assist. It used the jake relay power-out to apply 10 PSI to the truck air brake system with a solenoid operated valve, then magnify the exhaust noise with a mic piped into the truck stereo system.
  2. The PLN like yours never produced much brake force on their best day. It was more of an engineering issue, not a mechanical issue.
  3. Pull an engine oil sample to check for high iron or coolant. Folks like to unload the truck when sampling goes south, especially on auctions where you don’t have to look the buyer in the eye.
  4. you have an active fault. There is a thread in the middle of this engines page, about 12 ahead of yours. It says “2000 e7 427 hi idle”. I have two code listed which cause the 900 RPM default.
  5. Is it going to a specific RPM and holding or just wandering all over?
  6. For the same reason Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hasn’t been executed........ They give them time to find flakey girls who want to be their correspondent prison girlfriend, for injected cocktail drugs to be outlawed, a chance at getting insanity sympathy, to drag it out and drive up the cost of capital punishment so they can argue against it, to work on the book deals and so they can appeal again and again to find a mistake, juror impropriety, sympathetic liberal judge, or other loop hole to free them when the whole Earth knows they smoking-gun-did-it.
  7. You won’t over-work the engine. You will be dropping out of the top hole more often and losing some of your low crawl.
  8. I’d believe that. Was watching a study on real, market legal, Parmigiana Reggiano cheese. Can only be made in one spot on earth by cows that are grass fed. Reason being the enzymes and bacteria digested from the earth in Northcentral Italy which remain a live culture the unpasteurized milk they use.
  9. Not a bit uncommon for aged shift cover soft parts to lose elasticity in winter and begin to leak. For an o ring to seal it has to be willing to distort into the shoulder of its land.
  10. Neighbors aren’t going to be singing Silent Night! I’ve owned 9 Fords and not a single Chev.....what’s the block? 3 plugs on side is not small. 454?
  11. The best thing a man could invest himself in......where did you study or teach? Agree on last para, except our Republic is theoretically the best roll model on Earth if it’s people have inhibitions and impulse control which takes us right back to “Decay”.
  12. Bless that old feminist for her firecracker zeal, but how many times can she be jump started before her battery shorts out? Hopefully Chuck and Nancy will donate one of their bilateral internal organs if need be.
  13. If the United States would become the isolationist nation Ron and Rand dream of this globe would look a lot different in short order. Congress was full of non interventionist “Paul’s” at the beginning of WW2 and when it was over they became the new interventionists via hard lessons. It’s an inviting thought to just wash hands and go home to make babies. Problem is China/Russia/Iraq/ISIS/etc/etc are poised and ready to fill any and all vacancies we create. Realistically, our greatest security threat isn’t what’s going on outside our borders, it’s that Americans have failed to identify what the characteristics of good leadership look like and then general Agnosticism. Can’t wait till Kid Rock or P Diddy are president. Maybe we can have a rap music curriculum in our schools and pot application course for home Ec.
  14. If that was a work order line item we would be well set. Since we can’t touch it you need to provide a long descriptive commentary so we can throw some shot-in-the-dark educated guesses back’atcha.
  15. Idle to 900 is usually...... A. Throttle position sensor open/ground/short. Blink 5-1 or B. J1939 communications limited. Blink 6-4 If your engine speed sensors are wigg'in out you should have a code. It's common to have clutch metal stick to the magnet tip of the sensor (flywheel housing mount), that can screw things up. During key-on do you see the amber engine fault light bulb is still working and cycling?
  16. Mostly poking fun of the Volvo, but not too sure about the driver either...…... The next day one of our operators came in and asked about it, he heard me on the radio calling for a tug. Our operator said, "we had him out at the back dock just 10 minutes before you were calling for a tug. He had backed into the dock, shut-off the engine and the truck wouldn't start. He asked us for a tow. We got him going and out of the dock. He drove around the building, parked in the center of the in-gate and shut the truck off again to sign out???". Unless they have a one minute idle shut-down?
  17. Moxie get heavier to haul since the 1930’s?
  18. It’s easy to be critical so I’m going to take it easy. Kids mouth breathing. Mouth’ers don’t taste well. You can only taste while your exhaling....humans can’t taste while inhaling. He did his best with what’s he’s got, but I’m taking the BMT interpretations as purely delicious. Gonna be on my game to make sure this precious necture doesnt freeze and blow up in my mailbox. Can’t be seen next to the highway scooping slush from the mailbox and licking my paws like a barn cat.
  19. All in Amigo, now I have to find something for a return package. We do make Maple Syrup every year.
  20. Mackvette1 is going through his right now and scored a new 400 series turbo and a manifold for $600 total, that's a good deal. Maybe it was right place, right time or he has a source?
  21. Tap the link I sent and scroll page 4 till you see a sheet with buncha displayed numbers. It’s a handy summary MackPro put together of general AI engine specs.
