  1. Great news for all the Volvo haters. I'm glad to announce that I am now going into the truck manufacturing business! I've recruited a group of American investors to spearhead my new firm. We have opened a factory adjacent to the White House in Washington, DC. (what can be more patriotic than that?) It will be powered by a cloned Scania V8. And since the Bulldog hood ornament has already been trademarked, we will use the one pictured here....middle age man walking a Komondor. We are currently accepting orders and resumes. Thank You.
  2. Don't know where you get your info kscarbel.....but every industry publication I've ever read had the E9 terminated before Volvo came into the picture. And it was wrote that it was the price to develop it to the new emissions standards that killed it.....not that it couldn't be done. It was cheaper to shelve it and go Cummins at the time. But if you know different than maybe you are correct. After all everything we read on the internet is absolutely true, LOL.
  3. First off, if you saw my last post, we do have one Mack highway tractor. And that is only one dealer, if I was in another region it would be a different outcome. On our last two purchases we saved over 12 grand each truck. Would you pass that up with fuel working out to $5.90/gallon up here? I guess the moral here is you can never change the one-sided mind. So go on bad mouthing Volvo and saying how much you all hate Mack now, and we'll see what they do in a couple more years. Then Barry can change the site name to Old Mack Trucks when the new ones are dead and gone. I'll stop posting about it now because clearly there are so many people that have the knowledge and finances here to take control of Mack and make it the most successful company out there. So have at it.
  4. Gee, I almost forgot....we do have a Mack, LOL.
  5. I would very much like to, but the local dealer won't play ball like the FL/Star dealer. Plus the FL/WS dealer is the biggest and has the most mechanics. Don't run International since my 05 Paystar because can't get Cat power anymore. The Pete was bought cheap used and is for sale. And the reason I bought the International in 05 was because of all the E7 engine problems at the time. I had a 2000 CH 70" mid rise, 460 that they never could get right. But one of my good friends is a salesman and another is a mechanic at Mack dealerships in different cities, so they give me the low down on the new ones and what I hear is aside from the minor crap every make suffers from....all is very good with the new ones. So, as I have said, if you know how to run a successful business, then you realize you need a good dealer and service department behind you. But rest assured, if my dealer situation changes I would buy a new Mack in a heartbeat, especially now after seeing all the build quality issues with this Star.
  6. I think traction is what got you there Back in Black. Nice dog there Logtruckman.
  7. Words of wisdom Barry. I fully agree with all you have said. If we don't all support Mack and Volvo....what do think will eventually happen? Do you think they will want to keep Mack around when all they see on these forums is hate? Like I said before, I run Freightliner, Western Star, International and Peterbilt also, and they all have issues.
  8. True, owned my Mercedes, but built in USA. And actually, the Detroit DD15 is awesome. No problems at all and performs very good. All the problems are with the build quality of the truck. Even funnier is I had pics and posts on the Star owners site and then when I posted all the problems I suddenly disappeared LOL. Guess they don't like bad advertising, LOL.
  9. I don't think my buddy changed the cowl and his looks normal around the cab on his truck.
  10. That's a very nice Pinnacle you got there EM6285! Awesome.
  11. I agree. Same with that yellow B model that was at that show TommyZ took those pics.....my pics are on my other computer....but it was stretched with giant black stacks that look like woodstove pipes......why would you do that to a B Model??????
  12. Lots of companies in Canada doing it. And they list Mack.
  13. I heard rumours VW was looking at International? Wouldn't bother me. I own VW's and they are stone reliable. Traded my last Ford off for another new VW. My bank account likes me now.
  14. Sorry....was my computer......I see your pics now after I posted.
  15. I don't see a pic? But TommyZ took these for me at a show he took his trucks to. Cool Mack Ratrod _2.bmp Cool Mack Ratrod _1.bmp Cool Mack Ratrod _3.bmp
  16. Here's one for the Volvo haters.......2013 Class8 Truck Sales year to date. U.S. Volvo 20,033 Mack 15,484 Canada Volvo 3,653 Mack 2,155 Apparently someone thinks Volvo is good, LOL They outsold Mack. And both market shared are up from 2012. We should start a poll here.....all the new Mack and Volvo haters....list what year and model of truck you currently own. o then we can see if you are talking out of experience. LOL.
  17. In Canada I find the F-650/750 way more expensive than a loaded FL M2 106" or International. And Ford dealer shop/parts rates are way higher than class 8 truck dealers. So they better hope they can drastically reduce their purchase price with that engine/trans. I can't see them gaining market share....especially with Allison just announcing a new trans in the FL M2's that supposedly increases fuel mileage 20%.
  18. You're the man to build her Tommy! I've seen you in action.....I'm sure you could round those parts up no problem. I want it on the cheap too, lol.
  19. Here you go Tom. Can't hide these gems. 63 Autocar and 73 Transtar 7-21-13 _3jpg.bmp
  20. I wish VW would buy Ford. Maybe they would be reliable again. I have traded my Ford's for VW's and my bank account thanks me.
  21. Did you notice much difference in power between the 445 and 505 settings BBIGRIG? I've been looking at a couple tri-axle dumps in southern Ontario and they all have 445's with the Allison auto. My gross would be 36,000kg.
  22. Oh, and it is good to have freedom of speech and I welcome all oppinions. Just doesn't do the site any good when it is like a constant broken record.
  23. Ok.....so how many American investors were lined up to buy Mack and two, why didn;t it happen? Just asking. If no one invested the big dollars in Mack like Volvo did, what do you think would have been the outcome? Would they have ended up sending production to Mexico like every other manufacturer in order to lower their costs and survive?
  24. Very nice Logtruckman!!! That new Titan looks nice and I like the Superdog and CL too. Thanks for posting. Can you post a pic sometime of how that new def tank, and I assume, battery box is set up? I haven't been able to see one opened up yet.
