  1. This fleet built a couple of these. Gliders with built Series 60 Detroit's and Tri-drive.
  2. Saw another Anthem today. I used to work for the sister company of this fleet years ago.
  3. Yes, it is central tire inflation system. They work good, increase traction and decreases rutting in soft roads. But it is very expensive. Got a pic of the headache rack on the green Star. I love these!! I have seen a few now, but can't seem to find out who makes them. Oh...I'm in White River, Ontario Canada.
  4. They use tri-drive tractors like that in my area and west of here. They have to have the long wheelbase with our axle weight laws to get max AGVW. I like the 6x6. Reminds me of a new age RM. Only the RM was a better truck, LOL
  5. The contractor I am hauling for was always all Cat, but they bought a Mack/Deere/Volvo equipment dealer. So the first new Volvo loader just showed up today. Check out the humpback on that thing! I guess you don't need to see anything but the camera. And I don't know if they are that good, or if it's the sales incentives, but Mack Anthem's have taken over the highway up here. They are the majority truck I see all day now. All the big fleets that were running Volvo's have now bought Anthem's. And I see them pulling heavy 5 axle tankers, live bottom trailers, wood chip trailers, etc.

  8. I'll just pile these in one thread to save time. Some pics I snapped while waiting to load throughout the day. Western Star, Kenworth and International pretty much own the forest up here now ever since Volvo abandoned Mack from the heavy market. I love the Lonestar logger. Some can say they are plastic junk but they can survive the bush road with a 5 axle trailer.
  9. The contractor I haul for bought a Mack dealer in Manitoba Canada so they have been buying Granite's now. Here is one of the floats and they have some dump trucks. All MP8 505 M-drives. And they have more on order that are going to be gold dogs....all Mack....MP8, M-Drive, Mack rears and Mack air ride.
  10. Last weekend when I was off, my son and I built a little lean-to display area for the Allis. Now it can be seen sitting on the deck and not hid inside with the new Kubota. And still protected from the elements. Had an old Ariens Rocket roto tiller I stuck in there too. And hung an old scythe from my grandfather on the wall too.

  12. I'd trade any new truck for a Superliner today.
  13. I'll double post my pic from my other thread about this working Superliner I see every day up here pulling a set of B-Train possum bellies. And got a pic of my friend's Superliner truck and pup that lives up here where i am working. He is going to get it painted again, has a few battle scars now. It originally had an E6 350 but it got to the point it needed engine work and he wanted a bit more power so he put an N14 Cummins in it.

  16. There's an application I have never seen a General used for.....a mixer truck. I've ran them as dump trucks. They were a good tough truck. And of coarse, the good old Paystar 5000. Those and the Mack DM and DMM's were the kings of mixers for most of history.
  17. You would have to find a build date on it to prove the engine was made before Jan 1, 2000. But most MTO don't look at engine, they would go off build date on your door tag. In which case you would need E-Log because it is an electronic engine.
  18. Well before you even do any injection pump, injector or turbo work, try this. If your truck has been set to pass an emission test, etc......your puff limiter might be shimmed up to the point I have seen E6 and E9 motors completely gutless. What I first did to mine was take the air line off and plug it with a roofing nail. Yes it will puff black smoke on takeoff and every shift until the turbo catches up, but it will make a huge difference in throttle response which will make it feel stronger. It really woke my 88 up. But what I did later was I ran the air supply line through an air switch in my dash. (my truck was originally a 12 speed but switched to a 15.) So I used the 12 speed deep reduction switch. That way there the puff limiter could be kept shimmed up legal where it passed E-tests, then on the road I could just flip it off and run strong. Try that first, it's easy and cost nothing.
  19. Ya, not really worth it. You can build an E6 or E7 to run strong for cheaper than the conversion would cost.
  20. Man, that's a bummer. Still trying to recover from the Maxxforce, now this happens. They're sure having a tough time rebuilding their reputation. I have been talking to some guys that have new A26's in both dump trucks and highway trucks and so far the ones I talked to like them and said they have had no emission issues yet. I am currently working with 2 of them in new HX dump trucks and one thing I do notice....they are extremely quiet compared to any other engine.

  22. My old 88 E6 350 pulled 140,000 pounds up 10 and 12% hills here as well and in same gear as my old 2013 Detroit DD15 505/1650 did and in same gear.
  23. Still not great pics, but I will keep trying. I clicked phone for the closer pic but only got the trailers again. Interesting to note it still has spokes on the steers, but aluminum budds on the drives. I still can't tell what it had for an engine. It was putting out some coal like my E6 350 used to when he was pulling away from a stop and when he went by me at highway speed it was pretty quiet and din't sound like a V8. This setup would be legal for 140,000 pounds here. It's got a logger headache rack on, so it must pull log trailer too. I would take that over my new truck any day!
  24. Yes Red Horse....wood chips, saw dust, hog fuel. I'm in a heavy forestry area. And yes, no dollie. Fifth wheel on lead. Door panels open up on rear of lead and front of pup and the load passes through on the tipper.
