  1. That's the same truck as in the first picture ???
  2. That's what they call a 6 speed. It's basically a 5 speed and it has an extended low range for crawling in soft ground loaded or milling or whatever. Then there's multiple reverse speeds . It's about as complicated as a pickup from the '70s with a four speed. They're also virtually indestructible. All the guys who commented on it are pretty accurate.
  3. A CH ? I don't think they're going to fit , let alone have enough radiator. CL ? Some were made with ISXs.
  4. For what it's worth to you ???? I don't know if I'd be so quick to pass on that '85 for what you're planning on spending and using it for. Barring a rotted frame or something, that truck doesn't look abused. (almost looks like an old Wyoming Sand & Stone truck)
  5. That Granite looks like an old Penn DOT. Likely rotted in spots you'd never dream of. I've seen Penn DOT trucks that actually have the intake manifold rotted to the point of losing manifold pressure.
  6. Maybe it was repowered with one of those old Cummins C engines. Like a C160 or C180 ?? Truck looks to be in fairly good shape.
  7. Once again.... great eye candy Thanks
  8. Over 40-K ??? as in more than $40,000.00 ???? that's making me scared even thinking about it 🤢
  9. Pictures are like the currency for info. We all love pictures
  10. Who cares about what axle ratios are in that truck ? Look at the body. That little girl did some work....and my bet would be it's capable of doing lots more . Worry more about if it's gonna need costly repairs ASAP or if it'll go a while with some proper usage
  11. That's what happens from looking at websites of dubious content 🤔
  12. Depends what frame is in it. I don't know for sure about that model, but there is such a thing as a heavy spec single frame
  13. I'd like to see more of that truck, but look at that front bumper. Makes me wanna see some other details about this one 😍
  14. Some of the Mack transmissions that had extended range low gears, also used a pretty slow axle. Those transmissions had a huge overgear to get some road speed out of it. It's true some Mack transmissions were close (?) to an 8LL. There were a couple though that you sorta needed the whole combo. Or maybe it was made with the Fuller ???
  15. I'm pretty glad you're well again too. I was wondering where you were.
  16. Wow !!!! look at the shape that B model is in
  17. Maybe there's hope. Don't forget the springs might be worn where the dowels go in on the ends. Didn't mean to sound offensive, but guys are often reluctant to accept that when they start " walking " it's usually not just the pads ( the cheapest easiest thing )
  18. If he doesn't know what's wrong with it ? I'm guessing he's not about to take on changing the trunion stand
  19. ( lol ) this poor guy is going to get his $5000.00+ education about what causes his problem
  20. It's impressive the way you guys get these repairs done. Could you imagine the time and cost if you ever sent this job out ? Looks to be coming out pretty good from all your posts.
  21. ( lol ) some older guys used to call it "shalack" it was common practice to smother mating surfaces with it. And those little bastards ( the mud movers ) also like to build in trailer supply lines. Seen it happen way faster than you could ever think they'd have been able to
  22. What a good looking R 😍
  23. Weakens it ???? (lol) My money is on those men down under putting a truck through way more extreme conditions than anything on most of the roads in California could dish out, except maybe some logging roads.
  24. They're probably nine inch in the picture . Those tires don't look too big. I'd Imagine 9s can be found with an offset. In 2022 ? some of the paint from spray cans is really pretty good. Sorta moving away from the rattle can of 25 years ago.
  25. Good luck axling 73280 if you go on any Interstate hiway. They throw that part in there and then it often turns into the cop's interpretation of what's what. 20000 on that trucks' steer ??? I don't see much problem and taking weight off the steer with the lift axle ? I don't see much trouble with that either. I think you have a winner there for what you're using it for.
