  1. Just mounted some tires on the rims I polished up got some nice trailer caps on first time capped bridgestone casings for fifty bucks apiece Im going to put them on my RS parade truck. I figured those caps would work good on the RS its never going to haul any weight or see rough service I will switch the tires from the RS to the superliner because that already has a like new set of good drive tires on it.
  2. I think the painted steel ones are at least 50 bucks now.
  3. I have to replace the air tanks on the superliner they are a patched up rusty mess I can get three aluminum five gallon tanks the same size as stock 23X10 for $310 shipped to the house.Or I can get four of the polished stainless 19X8 (pictured) for $240 shipped to the house. Im leaning towards the stainless tanks I can pair them up they are three gallon a bit smaller than stock and I can bolt them right to the bottom of the battery boxes. The aluminum tanks need to be polished as they are just a brushed finish and for some reason salvage yards want their weight in gold for used aluminum tanks these are new and much cheaper than stock and stainless doesn't rust and I believe they are made in the USA.
  4. Yes how true Larry that's a K5LLA I think they are the best sounding Nathan out there they don't sound like a passenger train.
  5. Got around to polishing up and adding some paint to the airchimes going on the RS they really shine in the sunlight.
  6. Surprised I never saw that truck in all the years I have been in the area I would have remembered it if I did.
  7. Hillary has been so versed in deceit she wouldn't know the truth anymore if it came up and hit her upside the head.
  8. I think Jimmy Lootens has the only VT-100 Hendrickson around here.
  9. Jeff is such an arrogant pr!!!k that's why the truck landed in Michigan if Andy would have still been in partners with him that truck would be sitting in my driveway right now.
  10. Im looking for a camel back suspension give me a call at 847-468-9676.
  11. Heres another Chicago R model I pulled a low boy with this tractor in the early eighties when Ed Beltz owned it he bought it from an oil company in elgin had a much nicer paint scheme then. The horn button read this truck custom built for John Yazel so it was one of his early trucks it was sold to Shanahan when Beltz went under. I tried to buy this truck numerous times and Jeff Shanahan never gave me the courtesy of a call back I spoke to his secretary a couple times left him my number and even had some of his employees relay the message to him. So now it sits in a yard for sale in Michigan after sitting idle in Shanahans yard in south elgin a mile and a half from me for years I cant tell you how ticked off I was when I saw it advertised in the truck paper.
  12. Looks like mine is the RW-1E that's what it will be painted like when its done in red, white and blue.
  13. As the title reads how many times have you heard this and this is exactly what happens
  14. Wasnt there a new old stock grille like that on here last week.
  15. I have not decided yet whether Im going to keep them all yet I have a set of aluminum wheels already on the front of the truck. Im kicking around the idea of putting the truck on the road when I retire to make a few bucks here and there and running all aluminum rims will help cut the weight down. I have a set of those stainless hub covers on my RS Im leaning toward buying another set for the superliner.
  16. They still have some pitting around the lug nut holes but for 29 year old rims they will look fine for what Im using them for I don't really keep track of the time Im laid off for the winter and have lots of time on my hands anyways.
  17. The pictures don't really do them justice they are unbelievable when out in full sun.
  18. A month or so back I found an ad for a pallet of ten 24.5 aluminum wheels for sale in western iowa I called and he sold me the whole pallet for five hundred dollars plus the one hundred ten dollars I paid to get them here. The guy said they were polished they must have been off a readymix truck they had a lot of concrete on them and they turned out to be machined but for the price I didn't care. I only need to do the four outside rears and fronts anyways I started by sanding them with 400 grit paper then went to 800 grit they smoothed out pretty good and finally got the machining ridges out you can see in the pictures where I had the one final sanded and touched it with the heavy cut wheel in the lower right corner. I bought zephyr airway buffing pads and compound three different pads with three different bars of compound well they turned out better than I could have imagined. I saw a tutorial on using these buffing pads and compounds on u-tube and couldn't be happier with the results they claim they make things shine like metal mirrors you be the judge that's why my hand is in the pics to show the reflectivity. Im going to do the fuel tanks after a bit that superliner is going to shine like a new dime when its done between cleaning up all the aluminum and new paint.
  19. You can bet they are sitting around board room tables figuring out what crisis they can use to bump the prices back up or the good old standby were taking a refinery or two off line for maintenance that's what they used around here last year to generate a large price spike.
  20. Yes the ram air exhaust wonder how fast the turbo was spinning without oil when they were hauled down there on a flatbed.
  21. Larry that flywheel had a double plate clutch set up when I took it off.
  22. Something about that cab doesn't look right to many ripples, dents and its primed which usually tells me its had some kind of rust damage fixed.
