  1. I think ? but not sure …..If it has air conditioning it will have air cylinder, no air has the knob that you turn to open the cowl vent .
  2. Welcome aboard !! They say old trucks collect the nicest people.I find that true. Your amongst a great group of truck lovers. I love to see pics …….. Even Pete pics Keith
  3. Thanks a lot for the great pics. Just a thought, I had a brigadier that the brakes would lock up on . I had to put on a new treadle valve and things worked great after. Maybe its the truck, not you. Its just a thought , don't replace the treadle valve unless your sure. They can be nasty to switch out. Peddle pin and plunger may just need cleaned and lubed
  4. Thanks for the update. Hope you have a great trip to Englishtown. Look forward to your video.
  5. Congrats on the new buy. By the looks of your RS, it's going to a good home.
  6. Happy B day Alex. Hope its a great one. Keith
  7. Anytime I have had air coming out of the service line without a trailer hooked to it , its been the tractor protection valve. I am with you. I hate changing treadle valves ! So I always start with the easy ones first . TP valves are not very expensive and usually pretty easy to get to.
  8. I see your a new member . First, I would like to welcome you aboard. There is a lot of helpful info here. I can't help you with your first problem, but my money is on the tractor protection valve for your second problem. Good luck with your RD ! I would love to see pics of it. Keith
  9. A few more pics of some other brands at the show.
  10. I was hoping to see you Alex. I was by you truck a couple of times….You were probably at mine. Your trucks looks great!! I have pics of the motorhome also. I think it started life as a Ford CL9000. But could be totally wrong. Very interesting rig.
  11. Thanks BAD DOG, I had a great time . I was there for 2 and a half days, and think I still missed things . It was a great show, and I really enjoyed meeting you. I was starting to think you couldn't make it. Then you made my day. I was sitting by my binder when I watched you pull in. VERY NICE TRUCK!!!!! I will add some more pics……
  12. From the album: 1974 Loadstar 1700

Most of the red on the cab, is the original 40 year old paint .
  13. 345 V8 with 5 + 2 trans , 7 and 17 axles, 91000 miles
  14. This thread didn't have a happy ending. A rust free R………something we can only dream about in the land of salt.
  15. Welcome aboard , nice RS !! Just take a look at the tire size on the side of the tire. Let us know the actual size. Someone will be able to tell you the tubeless equivalent . I think it's a good idea to get rid of the tube type. They can be dangerous if your are not familiar with them. Its hard now to even find a tire shop that will work on them. Plus common tubeless are way cheaper. You just need rims. You can get them cheap from a wrecking yard. KEEP THE SPOKES THOUGH. Keith
  16. Sorry I didn't see this earlier. It would have saved you some grief. The dirty, oily linkage is on my 237. keeping everything well oiled is what has kept it good for 30 years of being in salt. The cleaner linkage is off a 350 4V . It appears to be the same, and a lot easier to get close pics. I think this will shed some light on your troubles. If you want any other pics, or from a different direction, let me know Don't let the spring in the 350 pics confuse you. Its not factory. I find I have a lot nicer pedal with 2 long springs (one there, one on the pump), instead of the 2 factory springs .
  17. I don't know if this helps……... 1988 R688 with 14,300 front axle - 3 Leaves …. 3 inch block 1986 RD688 with 18,000 front axle - 4 leaves……4 inch block I'm 98 percent sure thats how both trucks cam from the factory. In my opinion, they both sit perfect. Keith
  18. Happy to hear you got things sorted. Your truck is way to nice, to not be able to get out and show it off.
  19. Thanks for the pics. And I would shake Alex's hand too. He is one of my favourites .
  20. Thanks for the feedback guys. I was thinking the same about the bumper. I still have to straiten it though.
  21. Well just an update on my ol' binder. I cleaned up the doors. Someone had made a bit of a mess of them. Added a stripe to kinda match my highway tractor. Painted the frame, and hubs. I will be putting the flatbed back on and putting tubeless tires on the front. I think? i will paint the bumper black. Not sure yet.
  22. Great looking R !
