Geoff your a bully because your trying to to tell others how to think and or write You mentioned tolerance, your the only person on this thread been not been tolerant As long as we agree with you all is okay, be buggered And why does the amount of time someone is here make a difference ? The difference is if you were here longer you would know that this page/thread/topic is in the forum labled "odds and ends" And if you actually read what it is for you learn something about the forum This forum is for non truck related topics Now you mentioned only a few posts ago that "our common interest in greast old things" is the reason you are here So if you are here to share our common interest on greasy old things, well and good and enjoy yourself If your here to exactly what you are doing, bullying everyone else into your way of thinking well we are gunna have a problem Unlike some, I come here to enjoy myself, laugh at myself with what is mostly very like minded people from all corners of the world, I don't come here to watch some upstart cause trouble in a place that none of us has to be in, we are all here by choice But I'll be blowed if I'll let someone turn up and upset a happy place and at least not try and raise my concerns After all as I mentioned, I don't have to be here, to me it's meant to be fun, and when this rubbish happens I can see the fun fading pretty quick Paul

Hang on a moment You obviously came to join this site because you saw something you liked You've been here for all of ten minutes and now trying to tell people that have been here a lot longer than you how they she should think or feel and what they can and can't right Bugger me, that's a bit rich I may or may not agree with what Joey or anyone has written but I'm about to tell him what he can and can't right I may or mat not agree with what ever you have written but I'm not gunna tell you that you can't write it By the same token I will stand up against you telling others what they can and can't write Who the heck do you think you are ?? Come here and join because you like what you see and then try to make us change to suit your feelings Be stuffed Joey didn't swear or cuss, it wasn't bad language, all he suggested is he would rather " live free or die " and you twist and turn that into something it may or may not of been Be Buggered if I'll say nothing, Pull you head Geoff, stop been a bully This is ruddy outrageous Paul

mrsmackpaul replied to mowerman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yep Vlad is right, we are on the edge of our seats here lol And my way of doing things is, do something as often as I can, even if it is just cleaning up around the place, it all has to be done and is all just as important No matter what it is I find small simple 5 minute jobs tend to drag on for days and the big jobs I have been stressing about go better than I ever thought Not to worry, youll get onto it when the time is right Paul -
Sunday night again Been house renovating, not as muchsatisfaction as truck repairs Anyway, hanging weather boards and pulled a window out to refit and refitted it, progress is progress, this Leichardt timber I got from a hall I demolished years ago is as hard as all get out Anyway, boards are up as far as I can go as I have run out Princess woke me at midnight on Thursday night and said I needed to run her to hospital, her ticker isnt ticking properly of late for some unknown reason, I dont bound out of bed at midnight anygood these days I have noticed Anyway the chucked her out of hospital on Friday morning I suggested that sleeping beside a stud like me might make her heart skip a beat, apparently my suggestion wasn't needed lol Saw this parked nearby today, the old SAR Kenworths have got thin on the ground very quick, I do have a bit of a horn for them these days, it appears every other joker does as well SAR is "Short Australian Right hand drive" This would of been a rare as rocking horse crap with the 10 stud wheels in Australia, I'm guessing they got added later Spiders were the go well into the 2000's and sory of faded out over night except for die hard fruit loops like me Reckon I can see the remains of a Cat badge and some Cat yellow hanging down These SAR Kenworths were everywhere once My deal in NewMexico went a miss, by the time I got papers sorted and importer lined up, old mate had sold it which is fine He'll keep a look out for other things of interest, problem is my interests are pretty strange lol, no big long chassis trucks with Texas bumper dragging on the ground, they do nothing for me Anyway I hope everyone had a great weekend Paul

In Australia there is a law that no flag is to be higher than the Australian flag The only time a flag flys higher than the Australian flag is when the King is in the country and then the Royal Standard is up the top One of our State governments got into big trouble in recent years for trying to be to politically correct and flying some other bullshit flag at the same height Paul

My 12 speed was built up with bronze when I got it and it has done many many 100's of 1000's of miles since and it is still fine I think it was a attempt to stop the range change jumping out of gear Gears were badly worn, I replaced the gears and sliding dog and it has never been a issue since Paul

What's a Backdrop Manifold?
mrsmackpaul replied to Dan Cary's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That was gunna be my question Gardner had interesting manifolds on their straight 8's Big diesel truck motors from the UK, naturally aspirated straight 8's were 240 hp in their last editions in the 80's and around 320 hp turbo Very basic low reving angine http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=10968&sid=ea221be3788a0d5b9d726ac98798f092&start=10 Here's a topic I started on them a few years ago Have a look if your interested Paul -

Not as many chances of stopping with a single drive I've had cans smashed off when in a road train and I dont even notice until I actually stop at a stop sign There are so many air tanks that it takes a good long application for the pressure to drop enough to notice Not a good thing but it shows the huge amount of difference those extra tanks of air and the extra cans make a huge difference Paul -
Just drop the box out, stand it on its bell housing and lift it apart, PAI stock all the parts as far as I know They are pretty simple to work on Use the proper gaskets and silicon, sicka flex or form a gasket and you'll be right Must of been a pretty hard change that broke the gear or dog, these boxes are regarded as pretty indestructible Amyway as to the 18 speed, it will fit but Im thinking a fair few changes are needed Paul
-
If it was a 12 speed I would day there's crud built up in the low range gear were sliding dog goes in I know nothing about 18 speed Mack boxes but feel something similar could be a issue Does this box have a PTO fitted ? Has it had any work done on it ? A few more details here may help people point you in the right direction Paul

Would of been at a guess 9.30 pm Past my bed time zzzzz Paul

J.I.T, just in time is the way things have gone Think about it, no need to offer crazy deals, just make us waita bit and we are happy to pay extra New Ford Ranger is a 6 month wait, Ford Everast is 12 months Waiting lists werent this long after WW2 when we had rationing They blame covid still but I think it is price fixing Paul

Thanks Brocky thats a start Paul

The first road testin Australia of a air ride cab in a R model The editor made the comment along the lines of " Mack trucks ride and there is little reason for the air ride cab" I guess it all depends what he was used to, but Macks are as you describe Paul
-
I can honestly say the same, if my tyres are all good with plenty of tread and all my clearance lights are working, log book is correct etc they dont give me anymore than a passing glance But I have never driven in the US or Canada so I can't comment on the rules etc over there Paul
-
Timothy Maikshilo that used to be on here quite a bit was a Johne Deere man, I would always (still do) give him heaps about this green tractor stuff And he would give me heaps about the red power I fond of Funny thing is, the Chamberlain tractors I like were John Deere powered and John Deere owned the controling share of Chamberlain It doesn't matter what brand it is, if it is worked it will eventually fail Paul

Maybe just lower the air pressure in the drive tyres until the tray is ready, some blokes go down to 55 on hobby trucks I think the ride will probably improve a lot once the body is fitted Paul -
Yep, Im a big sook and realize that what we call cold here is nothing compared to lots of the world But it's still cold for me 😃😆 Paul
-
Thanks Brocky
-
Get out my what ? Brocky you lost me about here lol I'll have to google it I guess Paul
-
Yep, what Swishman sez You blokes are over thinking this way way to much When you tighten up on duals, if the wedges bottom you need a wider spacer If you don't have one, weld a bit of roubd bar around to build them up, asin the Swishmans picture (top right) if still not tight enough, bunga bit of rod on the other side of the spacer It really isnt very technical, if your chasing torque settings you need to start drivimg a auto, torque settings on spiders are for over educated engineer types, not for truck drivers And if your gunna start horror truck stories, best go and fill up your double shot almond mocca latte ffs Keep It Simples Paul

Well I guess if you was using Red power things might be a little different No matter, think about the positives, you have another front to put on, thats gotta be a bonus Well drank to much Saturday night and cold as all get out this morning, 1°C Yeah cold for me, a cracker of a day though once the head caught up with the body 3.30 pm and can feel the cool night air rolling in Good news is the last few weeks have been busy taking the Princess off to the doc's and so far they can find the problem with her some time speedy ticker So that's good news as they were thinking stents or bypass... Some I'm happy beavering away on the ensuite of the new digs Looking like a open air job Opened up theold verandah and with the help of a couple of mates got the extra heavy hardwood lintle in the big open side now Paul
-
A big cam Cummins, maybe a red head 400 was standard big power setting fir a Bigcam so I reckon 420 would be easily achieved Im no Cummins guru but there is people much much smarter than me on here that could answer this a lot better Some of the the Just old trucks forum on here would know for sure Paul

Gold leaf pin stripe, very cool idea, very "Spirit of Progress" look to it, you would have to probably Google that, the Spirit of Progress was Australias first streamlined train in the 30s with a art deco style and gold leaf stripes from end to end https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_Progress Finding the right person to do it, well thats a whole different story I'm sure you weren't thinking gold leaf but, hey, I'm allowed to be silly as it isn't my truck Paul
