  1. You won't loose that in a car park Sure is bright, if it was in Australia we would think it was a Boral truck, there trucks were all green and yellow Paul
  2. Do these bolts go thru with nuts on the other side ? Or was this different in the U.S. ? Paul
  3. Macks in Australia had very similar brouchers but different letters and numbers We only had, R 600 and R 700 Everything else was sort of added later I wonder what NewZealand, Europe and the middle east used when they sold them new The pictures on Australian brouchers was the same as was the colours Back in the 60's we were still imperial, feet and inches and pounds Things were simpler to work out than metric amd in most cases still are Paul
  4. On 21 July 1969, Francis "Frankie" John Hunt was on patrol with 3 Platoon, A Company, 6RAR, when Lieutenant Peter Hines stepped on a mine, which activated and killed him. The explosion injured several others, including Hunt, who was standing closest to Hines. Hunt was air-lifted to the military hospital in Vung Tau and then evacuated to Australia for further surgery at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital to amputate his severely injured legs. He spent 19 months in rehabilitation in Australia. In 1983, musician John Schumann wrote and released the song "I Was Only 19" which was performed by his band, Redgum. The song references Hunt and the mine explosion: "Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon" and was performed onstage in the Domain for the Vietnam veterans' reunion concert on 4 October 1987. 6. WOW, that's a impressive looking truck I imagine that the wrecker part was fully custom built and not a off the shelf type of deal Paul
  7. Ball race turn tables or fifth wheels would be by far the most common in Australia More stability, less movement and so on All a matter of what your used to seeing I guess Paul

  11. I think it's the oil pressure gauge for the motor thats getting oil in it But I could be wrong here Paul
  12. Thats really the only one I know of, I know more were sold here in the late 60's but I dont think it was many And I think maybe the 20s pr early 30s some were sold in Australia They are a good looking truck Paul
  13. Maybe your doing the gauges up to tight and cracking them inside You could wash out the air tanks but I wouldn't worry about it, the mushroom sauce is in the system now and has been for many decades So if any rubber ware is gunna be stuffed from the oil it's well on it's way I would just drain the tanks regularly at first, every few hours to begin with, or every time you take it out, which should be done anyway at the end of each day you drive it Paul
  14. Yes it would help a lot to check with some pictures of the results if things checked Paul

  16. Bugger me, thats different, was the motor changed a lot to allow the oil to drain from the rocker cover ? Paul
  17. I see a cop car like that and it makes think of running moon shine. Or at the very least watching a movie about running moonshine 😃 And then BJ and the Bear springs to mind He always seemed to be topping of his tanks with moonshine to either hide it or out run the law A good looking car Paul
  18. I think the length laws in the U.S. been relaxed had a lot to do with them falling out of favor I wonder if bore wears in a oval shape or maybe it makes no difference at all Paul
  19. Keep us updated, I gather the Green Hornet is back on the road, seem to recall it was in the garage getting work done recently Paul
  20. Ford D series and Cargos had motors that laid over from new They were built from the 60's to well into the 90's The motors were better built than the trucks I felt Slant 6 were available in Dodge trucks in Australia until the normal inline 6 cylinder hemi came of age Paul
  21. Were is the fifth wheel king pin positioned, as in how far forwards of the centerline of the rear axle or axle ground Maybe shift it forward a bolt hole or two to transfer more weight to the steer Paul
