I have been doing some thinking about this truck ( I know I shouldnt ) it may have been only supplied for evaluation to to the Army for a tank transporter as the Army bought Leyland Contractors for tank transporters at this time not Macks and before then they still used WW2 Diamond T's and Federals after the Leyland's the Used S line Inters and after that MAN's but never Macks And its not one of the Macks the Army bought in the 80's they were all 6x6 and Flinstone fronted Federal truck in Vietnam Diamond T's taking Army tanks out to Maralinga for nuclear testing Leyland Contractors IH S line's which were used as triple road trains by the army as well and today they use these MAN's for shifting tanks but at no stage as far as I know did they ever use Macks like the one advertised which makes me wonder was it a special for the Army trials when they bought the Leylands instead Paul

Air cleaner was standard on all Macks in Australia till the coolpowered ones came out then they only used that style on no Mack engined trucks out here Elephant ears have never heard them called that before will still used into the 80's And that style of front axle was used until the early 80's as well or at least hubs with that style cap on on the lighter Mack front end but when axle limits changed they changed did away with that style I dont think that would be a lite weight front axle though Paul

Im fairly sure that truck would have had a drill rig on the back by the looks of it its not ex army and maybe even came out here LHD and was converted to RHD later one the first R700's sold by Mack Australia were LHD Either way looks like it needs to shift a few thousand km's north Paul

its all coming along nicely and this stuff all takes time Paul

30 years time flies thats for sure wouldnt have thought 30 years ago It had far reaching effects and pulled Australia's agriculture sector out of the a major slump it had been in due to all the contaminated food supplies in the northern hemisphere Paul

road is a lot easier now Im told than 40 years ago but not as much fun though great looking F model Paul

Yeah Vlad it's AC wont do much good up here cab gets to hot the I drive in my pluggers and my foot will get burnt off the inside of the cab if it touches so dunno how well the AC will help with that

Is the AC clutch pulling in ???? if not check it has power to it Paul

how neat does that look just the right amount of bling no big sunvisor to cover half the windscreen no millions of lights all over the place not dropped on the deck like some low rider hoon from LA nice clean and simple only thing I reckon it needs is some scroll work not bucket loads just a bit but dead sexy the way it is Paul

never seen a front dump truck in the land of OZ almost every thing is pumped now days and I mean everything what a change from 10 or 15 years ago It always amazes me a building looks small when its only the footings and sought of grows in size when been built I always reckon Paul

Looks to good to be true to me WOW I would almost say looks better or as good as a new one Paul

I couldnt agree more I find it interesting how you build buildings other parts of the world like frost lines and things we never think of out here all this compaction business well we pour floating slabs so compaction isnt as crucial but termites are a major problem in Australia and we build a lot of houses to keep us cool and catch breeze and resist bush fires We dont have heaters in our house or AC never gets cold never gets real hot I read on here (the forum) people getting feet of snow a lot of people in Australia will never see snow in their lifetime Some of the most interesting things on this forum has nothing to do with trucks Its a interesting world we live in Paul

looking good there and yes the little things take the longest and for me always seem to take a lot longer than I think they should Paul
