  1. My good friend just had his truck lettered yesterday.. it came out real sharp I was thinking about having my RS done but kinda like the "convoy" look sorry for the large phots! still cant figure out how to resize Trent
  2. Dave sounds like you are in the same boat as me.. I have all new starting equipment on the END711 and it wont crank more than 2-3 revs before it quits.. I added some ATF in the individual intake runners and hope that it will make its way into the cyl to lousen them up.. Im going to wait until it gets warm again try to pull start her.. let us know if you make progress.. I feel your pain!!! Trent
  3. I think what David is saying is that if you have a "slow" 5.73 rear ratio with a double overdrive trans you get a bullet proof drive train. Top speed is not the objective. It was explained to me that the "slow" ratio rear ends have more teeth on the ring and pinion to spread the power across more aera.. also a faster spinning drive train (to an extent) will allow for smoother starts under large heavy loads. Over the road trucks can get away with a low 3.55 rear ratio and a overdrive trans becase they dont get down in the mud like dirt trucks. that sound right david?? Trent
  4. I thought about this also Dave, but was waiting for your reply on what your intent was. would be nice to have a "7 speed" Only draw back I see is that there is alot of added weight involved just to get a overdrive gear. would almost seam it would be just as easy to replace the 6 speed with box like an 8LL with a OD and crawl gears. I never did like the 2050 in a tractor trailer. to big of a rpm drop with heavy loads. they do seam ok in 6 wheelers. never looked but I suspect the rear end ratios were in the 5.XX range to get the truck to pull like it should? Im shure a good machine shop could rig up a yoke for you pretty easy. when I was thinking about this I was wondering if you could just use the air shift and not need a 3rd stick. I was thinking you could leave the 2050 in "low low / 5th" shift the 6 speed 1-2-3-4-5 and then hit the switch on the 2050 to "direct" and it would drop it in the OD gear hope you can follow that LOL Trent
  5. I agree with MackCL96, The CL is the top dog in the "C" sieres. kinda like the RW superliners of the "R" family. If you get what im trying to say. I dont see alot CL running around. Most of the new macks I see in the dirt are CHs with 427s or 350s mack power. I think it would be sad if they kill off the CL but with slow sales it wont make a big diffrence unless a high Hp mack engine is offered. I hope that volvo offers there new 625 HP badged as a Mack. One thing mack has lacked lately is a high HP engine (500+) I know most dirt trucks dont need all that HP but if people our buying lowboy trucks to haul heavy loads it would be smart for Mack to get back in on that high HP market..
  6. Nice CL !! looks real clean for a dump truck!!! did you get that special ECU program that is no longer offered because of emissions. I have heard a few people tryed to get it but Mack wont release it anymore?? oh almost forgot.... Nice looking girl in the photo! (no disrespet if shes related) Trent
  7. thats very cool looking. will have to wait 10-20 years to find a used one that I can afford!!! Trent
  8. I think 78-79 was when the R models went away from "standard" square tanks?? somone will for shure know.?? My dads 78 R686st buildsheet says the round steel tanks "standard" All the macks I have seen had the square steel integral steps tanks simmilar to the B models, round steel or alum integral step tanks, or the "Western" round tanks with the running board style steps mounted to the tank straps. Synder tank out on the east coast rings a bell for the MFG of the square and round intgral step tanks? I just saw some square tanks on ebay today trent
  9. on a side note. I found that I can engage the power divider (in the mud) by taping lightly on the brake pedal. an old trucker told me to try it and it works pretty well if you are not stuck badly. I have used that a few times to get rolling in some slick (*&^. It works good as long as you are doing it safely at a slow rpm. anyone else do this? Trent
  10. I think you will find it to be a PITA. All the steel hood R models I have seen look like the cowl aera is diffrent as well as the larger radiator. looks like alot of drilling and fabricating
  11. I have seen a few pop up on ebay and sell cheep.. Look in junk yards as well see alot there also
  12. you know you have a crap truck when the mfg puts air lines up front knowing its goin to br towed by a wrecker alot LOL!!!!
