  1. Hi. I'm no mack expert, but have learnt a few things from others bad experiences. I once had a mate who had a L10 cummins, it's appeared to have oil coming from the turbo. Cut a long story short, it was bad injectors and was fuel coming out the turbo mixed with soot from exhaust. Maybe from that experience, it might get a few light bulbs going in someone's heads. Best of luck with it.
  2. J Hancock - Can of worms opened. No going back now! Hi Paul, too be honest I'm not in my field of expertise. But I think your right, as much as I can fix/straighten the cheaper it will be. I'm going to try and pull the floor off the bottom deck and get some expert advice. I think I'll have to replace some runners, and I think some can be repaired.
  3. I'll get some good pics and details about the ramps and hydraulics when I get them sorted. Paul, I like your thinking. To be honest, some of the best nights have been out in the truck, camped up with a fire and a few beers looking at the stars. Half of these city folks would know what a starry night looks like, too much man made light in the city. Started pulling it apart today. Using a grinder (wish I had an oxy set) and a forklift, I'm sure most blokes would cringe looking at the way I did it but it's coming apart. Gate pockets were rusted so they came off too.
  4. Thanks for your input guys. Looking at getting the one from raneys. It's American made, so should be good quality.
  5. Thanks Murranji. Getting it from the states, but wasn't sure about backing plate till you cleared it up just then.
  6. I'm looking at buying a bumper bar for my R model. Currently has a bull bar on it, so I'm wondering if there is a backing plate that's goes behind the bumper or does it bolt straight onto the chassis? The reason I ask is cause i know our local KW's use a backing plate behind their bumpers. And also wondering about tow points.
  7. We have similar ones in Australia. They are caller Cruiseliners and they came with square headlights. I think they look a lot better with the round headlights.
  8. This is my 300hp 2v all loaded up with blue metal. Over 16 ton on the back, mind you it was only driven on our property but my brother who was driving said it barely changed from empty. 10 speed trtxl 1070 with 4:42 rears.
  9. Does soda blasting effect fibreglass? Could of been another option for the bonnet. It is gonna be a handsome truck when it's finished.
  10. She looks like a beauty mate. I'm a bit jealous!
  11. I reckon it comes down to personal preference. mind you, my dad taught me to drive, and he always told me not to take it under 1400. This was in n14 and isx cummins. Guess I got me technique from my dad.
  12. I'm still trying to figure out -31f in Celsius. I think it's cold still! They don't seem to much around up there.
  13. So this is my first trailer. It's a 1999 Krueger drop deck trailer, with hydraulic ramps. The ramps are not attached, but actually laying on the deck. Story goes like this, some clever individual decided to loaded a 35 ton excavator on my trailer. I haven't seen the actual excavator in question, but I'm guessing my trailer came off 2nd best. Ramps look like bananas. Combing rails have sagged, but chassis is dead straight. Ive replaced all brakes and bearings, and eventually all the hubs. Would probably just go with 3 new axles next time, but ya live and learn. Trailer is going in on Monday to get fixed, so watch this space guys! P.S. I plan to use this trailer to bring my Mack from N.S.W. to Perth, so will definitely have some road trip Pics coming.
  14. I've been told that beer bottle caps and a nail work just as good. You'd have to go out and buy some nails Vlad😜
  15. Similar to the diamond pattern only with studs. Gives it and extra dimension when looking at it.
  16. Love to see a classic like that still working. Keep up the good work!
  17. Gear head, I've never drove a combo like yours but I've heard they are hard. Especially with such a long truck and short draw bar. In Australia when ever we back a road train it's normally a two trailers backing to hook on to a third. The more you do it the easier it get. I don't do it often enough to be good at it. But when ever you have 3 trailers or more then you don't worry about backing.
  18. Ok, sorry to be a downer... But I googled 284kb5190b and I got multiple results saying mack t2090. Probably not what you wanted to hear.
  19. I found a 12 speed for sale on gumtree. In one of the pics I can see "284KB" on the side. My 84 model has the Trdl-1070 in it so I think you might be in luck with that one.
  20. Gee you've done a great job on that. You'd wanna have it well insulated for your climate.
  21. Thanks for clearing that up Vlad. So mine is the Trd-1070. That's good to know. Mr Black, there is a 12 speed for sale here in Perth. They want $5000 for it, comes with pto pump. Seems a bit pricey to me, but maybe that's what they are going for.
