  1. Hey!..I'm still learning too. Amado!
  2. Was looking at some pictures on a facebook page called "A Visual History of Lynchburg"- pretty neat stuff there. Only saw one old truck picture, but it was a good one. The caption said this was on the Lynchburg Expressway, taken in December,1964.

  4. It's a Kenworth W900 Vlad. It hauls lumber from the same place we do in Moneta. They have this nice looking cabover KW too.
  5. Rain,rain,rain...too much rain to get many pictures this week, but I found these old jewels coming from McKees Rocks yesterday- Oversize load on I-79 in West Virginia. A brown truck on I-79 in West Virginia. An orange truck in Moneta, Va. Some leaves on some trees. And, just to supplement the few pictures- a girl looking for something in the trunk of the car.
  6. So...you're talking about taking out a large insurance policy?..but you can't be there...already established an alibi...sounds mighty 'spicious- if there did happen to be a big supplosion there or something, the investigation is going to start with you.
  7. it would be REALLY great to have if you lived next door to 58FWD so you could blow it all into his driveway!
  8. The only reason I made it was because I loaded in Pittsburgh Friday morning. I loaded at Galv-Tech and I was the only truck in there. I was chained down and tarped by high noon, so I called Farmer52 to see if he was in Winchester. He was, and told me it was all clear across the turnpike, no cops at all between Pittsburgh and Winchester, and to put the hammer down. I figured I could be there by 4 o'clock, and pulled in at 3:30. I stayed about 45 minutes, did a quick walk around, took some pictures, and was back at the shop before 8:00.
  9. https://www.flickr.com/photos/28526133@N04/ If I hadn't made a quick stop in Winchester Friday to see the farmer52mobile and the fxfymnmobile I wouldn't have much, and would have to resort to posting Winfall wimmins again. Here's all I had- Loaded at Galv-Tech in Pittsburgh, headed out the door. A girl running in Winchester- That reminds me of a Redd Fox joke- "what's the difference between a girls track team and a pygmy tribe?" Pedestrians in Winchester. . . . . . . . . . . . . oh...a pygmy tribe is a cunning bunch of runts...
  10. looks like something 58FWD would use to clear his driveway-
  11. I don't understand any of it- I was looking to get the TH350 in my mud bogger rebuilt. A local guy in Appomattox that everybody said was the best around wanted about $600 to do it- this was in the '90's. I thought that was too expensive, a complete B&M rebuild kit from Summit was around $100, maybe less, then I saw Summit had complete turbo 350 transmissions for 600 and some dollars, pretty much the same price as the guy wanted to rebuild my old one. And the Summit transmission came with a warranty, and was good for up to 400 hp, about what I had. It's like a rotisserie chicken, you can buy a whole chicken already cooked cheaper than buying a whole chicken you have to cook yourself- what's up with that?
  12. I'd hate to get rid of the sticks too, but a 300 or even a 237 with a 5 speed would be the cat's ass, as Larry Wales used to say, for what you're pulling with it, i'd bet you'd love it. You'd be blowing the large cars doors off on the hills too, instead of vice-versa. I drove an F model with a 300/5spd. for several years, had 3.87 rears and would run 80 mph. and pulled good too. They loaded 14 pallets of kyanite then, weighed 49,900 lbs, plus the bag weight, plus the pallets, totaled 50,155 lbs. and I hauled it all over the place with that Mack.
  13. Me neither! But that was Lynchburg, maybe Winchester will be dry.
  14. I just watched the weather- not looking too good for the weekend, 70% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, 1-2''.
  15. Oh, and it had 153,000 miles on it, not 180 something. My Ranger has 154,000 on it. Thanks Paul! what's a ISC?
  16. I heard it run Sunday and it doesn't surge or idle erratic like he said, it just idles too fast. The wipers and emergency brakes have been fixed. I drove it down the long driveway and back, did fine, but I couldn't get up a lot of speed on the gravel road. I turned the steering wheel with the motor off and there's no slop or slack anywhere. Tom's (mechanic at the shop) son works for a used car dealer and he checked whatever it is they check to see what a vehicle is worth and he said the retail price is from $3100 to $4100, depending on the condition, so this guy's right in the middle. I went down 460 towards Appomattox this evening when I left the shop to look at a short bed Chevrolet 4wd that was for sale, just for curiosity. It had worn out, dry-rotted 38'' Super Swampers on it, and was just eaten up with rust, and they were asking $3000 for it. I think i'm gonna buy that little Dodge, I just like it.
  17. Saw this girl in the parking lot at the Winfall shoe store yesterday. I think her car was broke down, but I had to get to Cumberland and didn't have time to help her. On the way home this girl was getting gas in her new shoes at the gas getting place right across the street from the shoe store.
  18. He said it got a little under 20mpg, and it's got 33's on it too. They probably improve the mileage some, but kill the power even more.
  19. Nice looking grills, look a lot like the Char-Griller I have. This is the home made grill- thick wall stainless steel tank, should last forever. I had the top and offset firebox made for it and had just finished painting it here. I added a tall chrome stack too.
  20. I was just looking at a website that had the specs- I wasn't expecting a hotrod, but the 91 model V6 was rated at 125hp. It's only a 239 c.i. engine. They upped the hp to 180 for the '92 and '93 model.
  21. He sounded like a young guy and he told me he was not mechanically inclined at all. All the things he mentioned didn't sound like a major problem to me, but i'll take a close look tomorrow. I did look at the front end, ball joints, u-joints, etc. yesterday and everything looked good- nothing loose or slack, and all 4 tires looked like they were wearing even. I'd say it's worth a thousand with no motor- but he said it ran fine except for the rough idle. He even sounded honest- he told me about the rust spots that i'd already seen, and I didn't even ask him about rust. I'm supposed to meet him there after 12 tomorrow- he gets out of church at 12!
