  1. Joey ! When you up root that liner check the outside of it for size markings ! They offered P numbers on these ! Glenn correct me if I'm wrong But OVERSIZED liners weren't uncommon can't remember the sizes 2 thou increments I believe ! I have installed up to 10 thou over before! pain in the ass honed for ever!
  2. Yup If it's just a toy Why piss away a big bag of cash on a rebuild! In my mind, open it up and see what's there pulling liners on this old stuff can be a nightmare I have had it where the whole weight of the truck was on a jack and a plate before the liner would move back when we had nothing! We had a porta power at work to do this job ! Just saying ! Let's see what you got bro! as Joe mentioned welding the liner can shrink it however myself I would opt for a quick hone and new rings at most! if the liners are not scored up! Just stuff to think on!
  3. Please do!
  4. Yup should be a free designer set of boxers !
  5. Wow never run across this! Anything can happen I guess! like I said earlier you dam lucky it wasn't a front box may have been a whole diffrent out come! Just sayin!
  6. No ! I suspect the bolt broke my self As I stated! That said! Its an opinion! When redoing the load cushions We Always the REPLACED THE BOLTS! unless instructed by the customer not to! Lot of weight hanging off of them bolts at times! Imagine if it were the front one let go WTF ,Excitement X4 New Underwear Required !
  7. Buddy you need to see the eye doctor!😂 That looks like it was basically a clean break ! I NEVER SEEN ONE OF THESE Break like That ! looks like the coarse bolt let go that threads into the housing and stressed the rest! I wouldn't jump to the blame game on this other than the buffalo pads needed replacing! The T leaves hitting the box heavy usually the indicator! that said as indicated the welding is a possibility of a crack welding! !
  8. We do our best! Something to note when installing studs its recommended you bottom the bottom the stud and back it out a half turn ! not sure why the fine thread on the top does a better job of holding the heads down than any type of coarse thread! in my mind That said the 866 engine was a fine thread bolt if I remember correctly and they had issues with head gasket leaks! So who knows I could be misguided in my thoughts here! This maybe the reason Mack when to Coase thread in more current engines I don't know!? Been that way ever since! that may be the reason for the aforementioned instruction! So it won't hurt to heed that mention! Something else check them injectors you pulled and make sure the washers are stuck to them if Not Go Searching! just sayin!😅
  9. YUP! This a good point brought up by Mcpaul ! The liners are dri fit and usually tight but under the current circumstances best be safe! Get some heavy over sized flat washers remove a stud each side of the liner apposing each other closest to the liner and replace with short bolts! two per cyl
  10. Don’t no how many times I heard that story always wanted to try it never had the ball’s!
  11. I assumed by the look of the top there it was a filter you made the tool from! Guess I am a dumbass 🙃! Its round it fits the the hose I would go there if I needed to make a quick tool for pressure testing! And Volvo uses some perrty asshole sizes when it comes to most things! What ever fits!
  12. Congrats on getting the injectors out ! No need to replace the studs unless they are pitted to hell! Hopefully all goes well from here on ! the only thing now is if the studs are rusted or carboned to the head This can ad to the frustration of working with old iron!
  13. That can strip the boss at the top combine that with what you doing!
  14. Yup Thats a good base for a restore pretty unit! Good bones as they would say in the building trade!
  15. Don't know if that fitting will stay in there at 40 psi how ever very innovative on your part Onyx ! which filter did you use?
  16. HA HA ! I got a spare one to in the cupboard above the washer that I didn't use due to a similar scenario ! So funny! found a leak else where!
  17. Don't forget the head bolts are Proper STUDS and nuts Coarse on the bottom fine on the top! pulling the heads is not always a cake walk either You may find your self struggling here too don't be surprised !Joe , Glenn Myself and others will likely be able to walk you thru the scenarios!
  18. If you pull them apart they have to be reset
  19. its amazing what a little vibration will do! vibration and pry at the same time! pulling them apart is an absolute last resort
  20. I’m not far behind you Glenn! its way worse to do on a 285 the aftercooler adds some extra excitement to the job ! You’ll get them ! Do you have an air hammer? That would get it moving!
  21. Thanx for posting your fix!
  22. Certain Tire bars work well for this as well Glenn has the ticket on this! mentioned tapping them back and forth to get them to turn first its only a little but there is a enough movement on the studs there to get them broke free!
  23. Yup been like that for years! moved into a fifth wheel while building my last house 15 years ago ! Did the laundry mat thing twice and decided I would buy a used Kenmore washer and drier and put it in my shop that I had already built on the property! The washer and dryer 250 for the set payed for them selves over 3 washes! To top it off they lasted another 6 years after moving in to the new house! I'd be willing to bet that the people that sold us the machines (She wanted new stuff) are on their third NEW washer and drier since they sold us their stuff! But even buying new would out weigh going to the laundromat even if you had to replace every two years! We replaced these with another used set a while back the washer is now acting up as the progression to newer and newer stuff looms closer! Soon I will be stuck buying a new washer with no option to buy the good old stuff! Until I cant find the old stuff I will continue to buy the used ! Don't care how fancy the new shit looks they Don't last ! Just like The Mack/Volvo Trash trucks of today! So much for the environment!
