  1. just something i suggest trying is on level ground release the the spring brakes see if this changes the leak at the treadle im thinking check valve here just something to rule out before replacing the treadle!
  2. Check both big poles on the solenoid should have power on one and not on the other! Also is the power wire touching the trigger wire on the starter?
  3. Yup I'm getting a bit rusty with this stuff been away from it for a bit now ! So I'm glad you chimed in! I'm relying on memory and that's not as good as it used to be!šŸ™„
  4. I would make sure your front mount is the the same your getting into the years where the front mount was changing to a two bolt mount from the trunnion arrangement on the newer unit! otherwise this would bolt in! also does the newer truck have a charge air cooler in front of the rad?
  5. I’m sure you can if you can find one that puts out 20 or so psi!
  6. He has been fighting with this truck for awhile now ! From what I understand the EGR is capped off! From my experience should throw a code for egr flow but not effect or derate the engine How ever this may have changed in certain years?! At one point it was pulling well ??? not sure if this has changed! He claims the turbo is stroking completely on startup! with out the boost gauge it is hard to gauge whether its getting all it has! Also its hard to know if the turbo blow off or by pass is stuck open or getting weak! I understood that that valve started bypassing at 20 or so psi!
  7. It pays to not get too trigger happy! And not to over think stuff! Weigh out all the evidence and proceed with caution all of which you have done! Also very happy for you! Now all ya need is a turbo hopefully you’ll find the parts and all will be good! While you got it apart do a valve set and tiddle things up while waiting for the turbo!
  8. Need pic back and front!
  9. Please post a pic of the fuel pump! The rack may be stuck!
  10. Yup if it’s a bad valve you will hear it! And it will smoke or slobber fuel from the bad hole! You will also know which head to pull if indeed you have an issue! just sayin
  11. Dry
  12. bro it was running when you turned it off! Correct? Anyway only place i can think off is valve seat and or piston insert or ring ! Liners are cast ! the shape is confusing ! A melted piston would have been running bad! a broken ring is not that shape! Don't have any answers for ya! I would run it my self as Joey suggested ! The damage if any is already done!! some one along the line has accidently left something in the exhaust in my opinion ! a piece of old gasket or something!
  13. Agreed!
  14. My problem would have been warranty in the pull and re install situation! To do it that way you have to have permission from the owner! I would have no problem doing it if I was asked or told to do it that way! Cr yup should have used better terminology!
  15. Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I personally swore off stemco years back after witnessing a lot of failures not due to poor installation! But to a trend! Now a days there are a lot of out board drums being used! When brake job is completed second time around the seal can look fine and not leaking! Lo and behold half way thru or less the next lining the seal takes out a perfectly good pair of shoes! Why? Because the dust and crap from the last brake job got into the seal! Just my observation! So if I have choice it will always be a voyager a cr or national style seal for me the leather seal is my last resort seal for a lose bearing on a spindle or situation where I can get the others! just me!
  16. Old idealism over new in my opinion! Old habits die hard in the minds of some people! Engineers are not immune to this! That said if you don’t try stuff you don’t move forward! Sometimes it’s up to us in the field to do what they are afraid to do. I personally have done it! I’ve seen both setups both work ! Is the extra work necessary? If you got something that works why change!?
  17. Amen šŸ™
  18. Sae number six!
  19. Keep use posted!
  20. Great minds buddy my thoughts exactly is that piece magnetic? Not lump of carbon?
  21. Why not look for a Volvo engine of the same year as your own ! the engines are identical except for the paint! That said not worth taking a chance in my mind the emissions year is most important for ether brand some internal parts change for this!
  22. Bummer ! Nope sorry no ideas here ! Could be part of a bad manifold casting!
  23. Every new truck owner should have one of these! A places to lay your head while waiting for the tow truck! 🤣
  24. A mostly Discontinued Mind set with the current work environment!
  25. Sound wise the Schweitzer tended to have a high pitch whistle to them most of the time! Might be a clue for you!
