  1. about 12years ago i have a Bmodel that i made into a camper and we would take it to Co. on hunting trips so i was driving it home one night and about 10 mile over speed limt and a hiway patrol pull me over to look. He came up and look at ever thing and ask were was i going and told him home but i would get up about 5AM and hook up for CO. to hunt and that is when he ask do you have a fuss buster and i said no. He then replied you better get one cause some of the guys will take all of your money if you dont slow down and then he wanted to look it over close but he told me it looked ok but he drove one when he was a young man so we was turned lose with out a ticket.
  2. On that remote mounted filter is that a full flow or a by pass filter and what size is those oil lines there? glenn.

Then you can take some of the sludge and put to you tongue and if it tast sweet then antifrezze and it want hurt you if you dont drink it i have did it many years and now 63 years old and a air compress that has eat dirt will cause blow by. I have seen on 60 series i have seen a air compress cause a blowby test to be as hi as 10" and check after new compressor and down to 3" glenn

I am almost sure that you can take the master cylinder off and take to a parts store like for cars maybe napa and let them use the casting # and order from wagnor or who ever and you may have to check with the older guys to get any where dont know if you have tryed that but for years that is how i got them for old stuff rather bthan using the make and year. good luck. glenn

Ifr i remember right the endt673 whent to 205 and then the new engine came out which was endt 673band it was a 225 hp and then the endt673c was a 250hp and that has been along time that i have worked on any of them. The new endt 673c was a better engine it had piston oil coolers and every thing else was improved and trhat was in 1966 .The same engine was used to build the maxidyne with a fuel pump change.different block crank and rods as well as heads. glenn
  7. I have put the clutch on the input shaft on the trans and then install the input shaft into the pilot brg. and then lift the clutch up and bolt to flywheel. If the bell housing has a opening in the bottom then you can do that. You will start a bolt in the pressure plate then turn the flywheel and start another bolt and when all have been started then tighten all bolts and then adjust clutch and let truck down and go home. Some guys do 10 and 13 speeds that way all time but what ever. glenn
  8. The 187 horse was changed some from the 170. Like you said it went to the P intake manifold and it got a thermostat as well. The fuel was set out alittle more and may have got a timing change but dont remember that for sure. The 187 horse had a full flow oil filter over the 500 luberfinder and a oil cooler was added. glenn

  12. mack had one and rockwell in the early 70s had one in the sqhd which was not a top loader.
  13. I have worked mack engines for many years and i can tell you i have never wondered about those #s so i am thinking you may not need them either. It is not the part # and it may mean something to some one but me and you will be ok with out knowing.
  14. I agree with you on the cat problem it looks like they should have started with a new engine but the rumor is they will be getting out of trucks soon but who knows. glenn
  15. You can exchange the shutterstat but i dont know if mack still cares them but most heavy duty parts store can order but call mack and they can tell you. glenn
  16. The shutterstat is in the water manfold and it knows all.
  17. Forget the welding procedure and i know what you are talking about that was a common problem and the countor bore salvage sleeve is the only fix that i think will help and then that depends on how deep the head bolt thread is cracked. glenn

That is what that was happen on one model of the 60 series DD the pistonns was hanging in the housing just for a little bit and the valve would smack the piston but some kelp saying that it was the jake brake staying on and that can happen with a leaking or bad selnold but i said that is not going to make the valve stay open when the piston comes to the top and starts down so we got to checking then a service letter came out and told us to watch for the worn ridge in the piston housing.Some times you would finf metal in there from a piston failure and i think that caused alot of valves to drop.I have pulled alot of heads off of the DD and found valve marks in the top of the pistons and some times it is from the cam timing being off one tooth. glenn
  19. If it has happen two times on same cyl. then may have a exhaust brake problem. I dont know about the eteck but 60 series DD can have a exhaust brakehanging the valve open too long and hitting the piston and one of their units was hanging due to the piston having a wear ridge in the housing and it would hange on it just for a little bit. By the yoke pin being broke that sounds like a side ways force to do that but if one valve hangs down then that may do it. glenn

It should have a 675 model on both engines if they are a 2valve and the jake may not work much better than the dynatard because the mack engine is not dealing with alot of cubit inches to start with like some cats or cummins. Some times a jake brake gets a bad rap to start with, it is not to be used to take place of the service brakes and i think some times people foget that it is only to be used on a long grade to keep from having to use the service brakes untill realy needed. I know on my truck i catch my self wanting to use it at ever stop but it is not desigined for that. glenn

  22. A simple test to tell which set up you have is if they stop when you apply the brakes they may not be wedge brakes.

I ant sure what his question is but that is the shifter air valve and i see some one is getting air supply thru the black 1/4 plactic hose at the suppy fitting to the air vave form the 62psi air regulator for the trans system and may be using the 62psi to shift their pto unit which is not fair at all.
  24. I may add to this , one simple way to check this is to crack a air line to a sevice chamber to see if any preesure is applied because a foot valve can hang down on the inside with out the thredle holding it down.glenn

I worked for mack when the Bmodel was still in production and for a few years after the R came out you could get a cab kit for a R and use the B frame and radiator so i think you could go the other way using a R frame on a Bcab.The B cab front bracket will have to be used for the cab mount and clutch linkage and the steer box should be used.I have always wanted to use my B cab and front end on a late modeel straight frame and have checked in to it a little bit.I think the radiator will go down in side of the straight frame rail frame and the cab mounts can be fabed the way you want. The rear engine mounts will have to be compact to fit in between the trans and frane rail but white and western star did it. Then you can build a frame as you would like.You could install the steer box on the out side of the frame where it should be using alate steer box or i have a 1976 front alxe with the steer box built on it that would work on the front of a B. But using a R frame may be better and mount the steer boz behind the axle.
