  1. I have never driven a Mack even though I own two. I am pretty sure it isn't supposed to be like that! I am working on it....
  2. Bad Dog - There are already 90 bids, so he does have a buyer on the hook already. Crazy!
  3. That's awesome. I would think that qualifies as more than a quad cab dump truck!
  4. Best place to start is the wiki on this site: http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/tutorials/category/2-antique-classic-mack-info/ Tons of information! To basically answer your question: Lots of variables like rating of the truck and engine options. Odd number is typically diesel, even number typically gas. (fire trucks don't hold that theory well) In general the smaller number, the lighter weight rating. I hope this gives you a start.... Drew
  5. I have done some antique tractor gas tanks that were all rusted out. When you filled them up with water it looked like a sprinkler can. We needed some acid to rise the crud, junk and rust out the best we could. All we used was toilet bowl cleaner as it had enough acid content to do the job. We threw in some gravel and shook it the best we could. Thoroughly rinse with water and then dry. Try to get the gravel back out, but if it all doesn't come out that is ok because the tank sealer will harden the gravel too. We just duct taped every hole we could find from the outside and then added the tank sealer. I don't remember what brand we used, but I am sure it is fairly common to come by. If you have an extra gas tank lid that would be helpful because all of the sealer gets all over the inside. Rotate as much as you can and make sure you get the sealer on all parts of the inside. Worked for us like a champ!
  6. My bookmark for Brad Wike's website doesn't load, so I suppose he took down his webpage. Bradsclassictrucks.com Here is a link of the Evil's truck and Brad W speaking. (not trying to hijack the thread) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvoU0ShQPBA
  7. The expired craigslist posting asked for $1,150 if I remember correctly.
  8. Brent - awesome setup and steam engine! Looks great!
  9. Don't forget the racing stickers/decals. I heard they give you 5 more HP per sticker.
  10. Well, I have a green Mack truck. I like it. Just a thought, but if you could provide some more details of your trucks I am sure someone might be able to assist you. Model, year, engine, etc. It would be hard to troubleshoot by the color.
  11. Boobs kill! Wait, that's not right. Isn't it supposed to be crack? I guess now it depends on which crack.
  12. Force = mass x acceleration. Looks like there is a LOT of mass. Therefore, depending on how fast you want it to move (accelerate) will be your force input. 10 pounds per 1 ton doesn't seem right in my head, but i am not a railroad guy. Drew
  13. I just purchased an Allison 3000 series to put in an old Mack someday. I know I would be losing two sticks, but there are trade-offs (like double overdrive). Thanks for the pic!
  14. Great lookin' box truck! :-)
  15. Hey George - Just stick with the old stuff! You can find something like this, and then you will really be in style. Or just custom build an old Mack hauler like this.... (sorry it is a Ford). Good luck!

    Tornado

I am in Indianapolis. There were many tornado touchdowns through the state with many storms cells rolling through. It was a very fast moving front, traveling around 70 mph. It seemed to go around me personally, but many others weren't so lucky. My internet came back online this morning, but that is no big deal compared to power outages more severe damage in many places. There are many schools across the state with a 2 hour delay and some have even canceled school today. I hope everyone else is OK! Drew
  17. Sorry to hear that. You have a very cool, rare, project going with tons of history. I was enjoying your progress. I hope it finds a good home!
  18. Here is my 1957 Neway air ride tandem. Sorry is isn't the greatest pic, I need to learn to zoom out a bit. And also the single air bag (mine is in sad shape) which controls the ride. For what it is worth, I vote single axle as well. Drew
  19. Looks good and probably sounds good too!
  20. I saw these wheels for sale on a trailer full of parts. I have never met the seller and have no connection with him/her. First, does anyone think they are AC wheels? Second, if anyone has any interest PM me and I will pass along the phone number. I was in Paisley, Ontario Canada at the time of the spotting, so that might help or hurt your buying interest. Drew
  21. Looks like a D to me. GPs had a high arch front axle.
