  1. You shouldn't have to "run" a ground wire. It only needs to be connected to the ground (you would assume the cab is grounded.) So you only need a short run to something bolted to the metal, grounded cab. For the power wire an inline fuse is a good idea. You should be able to google "speaker amp wiring kit" and fine everything you might need.
  2. You have to be careful watching those old trucker movies. After I watched Convoy and Smokey last weekend I bought two Macks the next day!
  3. According to Superdog - Mack put windows in the sleeper cab until 1958 and then Mack replaced the windows with vents. They don't roll down.
  4. ^^^^^^^ giving credit to JT ^^^^^^ Thanks! ( I am glad you didn't say that on Hanks site, I wouldn't be able to repeat it.) I always liked the saying "If you know how many you have, then you don't have enough!" Drew
  5. Thanks Mike - Your tag axle looks a bit different than mine.
  6. It is a tag with Neway suspension. Is that suspension common?
  7. You are right there was a third one. It was probably in the best mechanical shape. It was a concave B67. I wanted the B61s and the sleeper was my first choice out of the three. I did get the motor and parts for the single axle. The B67 is still available and I believe he is only asking $2,500 located in Clinton, MO. Picture attached. PM me and I will get you the contact info if interested.
  8. Yes indeed - same litter. I am the second owner. I think that is kinda cool.
  9. I have been following this site for a while now and I am proud to say that I have finally caught the Mack fever. Not only did my first Mack show up today but also my second one as well. Someone said you can't have a collection with only one! I am sure it will take a while to get them road worthy, but it will be a fun journey! I am looking forward to the help and encouragement from the BMT family. I am sure I will have a lot of dumb questions along the way as I am not a truck driver or mechanic. Oh well, I am sure it will be a fun ride. Drew
  10. When you said steam boat, that wasn't what I had in my mind. Very cool looking! That has to sound neat chugging up and down the river. Nice steam eningines as well. Those are getting harder to find in good shape. They take a lot of work just to upkeep and take them to shows. But someone needs to keep the history around. Great stuff.
  11. Ernie. I am looking forward to seeing that Navy trailer back in action. Would love to see more pics. Drew
  12. Sorry to hear of all your issues with the justice system. I hope you can at least enjoy your shinier car!
  13. Hey Dean - would love to see more pictures of your truck and any restoration progress you have completed. It looks real sharp right now and would make a great combo hauling other old equipment. Yes please post some pictures of your old steam gear as well! Drew
  14. So I did a little back to back movie watching this weekend: Convoy and then Smokey and the Bandit. So I went to the local choke and puke on Sunday for brunch and got to thinkin' is there any better trucker movies that could top those? So let me what you think is the best trucker movie dontcha know. Come on. Drew
  15. They have products call "kick panels" which is an enclosure down by your feet for mounting speakers. They make them for most makes of vehicles but the problem will most likely be they don't make them for Mack trucks. I just mention it in case you want to Google the term and come up with a custom solution for you in that location.
  16. Congrats on your purchase! I assume you sold you other "John Deere colored" B61 on Ebay. So one out and a new one in? Seems right to me!
  17. Interesting thread. After my vote of “modern upgrades” and seeing I am in a drastic minority I feel like I should explain my personal thoughts. I respect and appreciate the comments above and agree with most, especially “it depends on the truck” and “if you are working the truck”. I personally really like the look of the B model and would love to find one and fix it up with a more of a resto-mod inspiration. To me, that doesn't mean adding chrome and lights. It means that if I like the look and would want to keep the “look” but I would like to have it with a re-powered modern engine and transmission, air ride, AC, dynamat, power steering and other modern features. I plan on using the truck (privately, not commercially) so I need power/performance also meaning it must go faster than the standard 65mph of a period correct stock truck. I very much respect the folks restoring these vehicles so I will be careful not to choose a rare or low production option to modify IE: firetruck or sleeper. I am very aware you can never take them back to the original! Just my thoughts, Drew
  18. Are you parting out your running B85 firetruck? They made less than 500 of those trucks.
  19. And a couple more from the interweb.... Drew
  20. There is an old thread on here about another Mack B Sedan. I think the picture link is broken. Maybe too old? I have attached the picture of the truck in question from the old thread. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/13006-the-most-beautiful-mack-b-model-ever/
  21. Great pictures and history. Thank you for sharing. Keep them coming!
  22. If you guys figure out an all Navy truck trailer combo you can haul this around. It is a Massey Harris Navy tractor. They only produced six of these to be used as a tug and this is the only one left. It would look really good sitting on a Navy trailer pulled by a Navy truck!
