  1. I met a fellow 20 yrs ago right after I got my truck. He had a new set of springs made for the rear with only 3 main leaves. He too pulled a travel trailer with it. I did similar by just having my spring pack cut down to 3. It worked well with my race trailer(only 3000# on the pin) until I finally did stretch my truck and add the air ride.
  2. Dave, it's a 15 spd(single over). Many years ago I was looking for a double over to get more road speed out of my 4.62's. Never happened, so I cut the gearing when I added the air ride. The rear actually came with 3.70's but figured I'd never use OD with the old 673 so I swapped it to 4.10's. Now I wish I had kept the 3.70's. The 237 would likely do real nice with that ratio? Right now it is 65 mph at 1800 rpm in OD. I think I could knock a few RPM out of it without hurting anything. Mike, sorry no radio or tape deck. Keith, I made sure it was plenty low enough...LOL!
  3. I had to parallel park a trailer for my class A. The little S series Binder made it pretty easy to do. Along with the reverse serpentine!
  4. Agree, my local shop wanted gold bullion to get into my 237 pump. I left it alone.
  5. I would suggest sliding an air ride under the back with a faster gear. Give you the best of both worlds. That spring ride will beat that travel trailer to pieces!
  6. Lol.....didn't even remember starting that question back when I did my motor swap.
  7. Makes me wonder why all the slight differences that were available and what the application was for.
  8. Awesome information. Just to show the vast variety of knowledge that is available from people on forums like this.
  9. Ya, 4.00 is all I have ever seen listed. They didnt have the power to gear them any faster, plus the speed limit was only 45 mph.
  10. Just doing quick math the change from 4.42 to 4.17 will drop you 100 rpm. 4.17/4.42 = .94%. Your 65 mph at 1700 rpm x .94% = 1598 rpm.
  11. Yup, pull the two plugs on the primer and make sure the plastic check valves and springs are okay and the seats are clean. My 237 was gunked up, once cleaned out work fine. As for belts? Mine flop around too but not sure compared to yours. How is the crank pulley? Run true? Watch each pulley and see how they run. Love the air start. Like mine you can't let go of the valve fast enough because it starts so easy.
  12. Thanks. I got it posted over here now so others can see it.
  13. Oh, man. Sorry to hear Tom. It's tough when it happens like that. I remember when I was quite young, not sure even if in Jr High yet. We had rescued a stray collie(we seemed to do that a lot back then with lots of different animals). It had only been a short time, it was winter, and "Princy" got loose, ran across the yard and darted out in the street from behind a big snow pile at the end of the drive. Car hit him, never knew it happened as they never slowed down.
  14. A video I made up over the last few months.
  15. A 237 and triplex is perfect in my B. I dont split until 4th gear, even pulling my trailer. Now there may be different flavors of 237 but mine runs up to 2100(heard some don't). Having the option to drop 1/2 a gear works well for my towing. It runs through PA hills with the cruise set at 65 mph. Would love to have a 300! Why? Just because you can't have enough power! BTW, my local shop wanted $2500+ to recalibrate the pump and they needed specific numbers as they had nothing to go by. I quickly decided to leave it alone.
  16. I was lucky my right side is good, but did rebush the left side. Somehow I was able to hammer the pin out. Might have taken some heat? Its been some time since I did that job. Only hard part was getting the front pad bushing installed and cap put back on. Choice words did seem to help. Lol.
  17. Hi Mike!
  18. My buddy has a very large hinge made up of like 3/4" plate and 1" bar for the hinge. Nothing store bought. Yes, rescanning is a PITA. I'm pretty lucky as I can leave mine headed north and get most of the channels I watch...as I don't watch much anymore. Running the rotor is a sllooowww process! My rotor did come with little stickers to put on the box to help show where it needs to be for what channels, but like I said I don't really change it. I pretty much bought it "just in case" since it was very reasonably priced. With digital, there is very little gray area on reception signal.
  19. Tec brake is the knock off for Jacobs brake. http://www.tecbrake.com/ Mack has some parts for Jacobs 2 valve, but very slim. The full rebuild kit is still available, as I did mine a few years back before I put them on. Pricey, very pricey. I just didn't want to have to deal with mine not working or any other problem from vintage, oily old motor parts. I think I know of the "insert" that screws into the head, has an O ring that seals into the Jake assembly. I likely had to purchase those when I installed mine? I can't recall what all the small pieces that came with the jakes I bought?
  20. Neat. Looks like it has some kind of early parking brake system? I see rods running forward from the rear axle.
  21. When I ditched my Dish Network, I went to local electronic shop(burned down now) and bought a nice big antenna, a ROTOR, chimney mount, and some cabling. Now I can get signals from anywhere. Not very expensive either. I think I had $300 in everything. I like your fold over design! A friend is working on something similar, but it is for his 80Ft tower he is replacing for his CB. Big storm took his last one down a few years ago. He can't find ANYONE that will climb/build a tower anymore, so only way around it is to build it and swing it up. We were discussing the effort that it will take to stand it up. I don't think he realizes how heavy that will be and the power needed to stand it up with a very short prop point for the cable. Signal is everything when dealing with digital. It's ALL or NOTHING!! No real "static" like the golden days of yesteryear.
  22. This was posted years back at our Ashland show. Before I installed the 237. I have some new GoPro accessories and plan on making a new driving video when the weather breaks. Send me an email with the video file and I can save it to my youtube channel.
  23. Dave, I painted the hood last winter. The cab needs done, but I buffed it up to make it look a bit nicer to go along with the fresh paint on the hood and the new doors I put on a couple years ago. I painted the fenders about 20 yrs ago. The grille shell is almost 20 yrs old now. I bought it from Watts back when they were still "cheap". I keep it waxed up. The transmission is still an ongoing mission to replace/upgrade.
  24. Oh Randy.....back to sensitivity training for you!!!!! 😷 LoL!
  25. I've seen similar setups on big wreckers for that kind of work. Dont know how they plumbed it, but cant see it as illegal.
