  1. I really like my Triplex and 237. Though I can't lug it like the motor could go, I like the splits in 4th and 5th. I don't need to split 2nd or 3rd. I'd like to find a 13 spd for it someday.
  2. Been checking in regularly and glad you gave us a heads up Jeff. Thanks.
  3. Wow.. that is a lot of What the heck is going on there? Especially since it only has a NTC350. The stretched it at the nose instead of the cowl.
  4. I think of this everytime this is mentioned. Monty Python Twit of the year. Go to 3:00 mark for the gun portion. The whole thing is funny as hell!!
  5. I've seen B models running with top fender panels off. I'd guess most were V8 trucks? My 237 doesn't get hot at all.
  6. It was a 12v generator originally, now it has a 12v alternator. The running system was 12v. It took the two 6v batteries on each side and put them in series for 12v to run the truck. The S/P switch make them all in series to make 24v for the starter. It gave better cranking amps to start using 6v batteries. Now it is obsolete. The 24v start was good for the day but could be finnicky. I changed mine out the first year due to not being reliable. Now I put air starter on it! Just because they are cool.
  7. Extended Service Interval. Had three filters and a larger oil pan for more capacity to go longer on oil changes.
  8. I'd say it was converted to alternator. Looks like it was done like I did mine. Just a spacer pipe on the original bracket.
  9. Watts had them, I got the chrome ones years ago for my truck.
  10. Wouldn't the three filters be an "ESI" option? Std is 2 filters?
  11. Great find!! For the money it looks like you have an awesome project on your hands. The old timers here will remember Rob buying his water wagon about 10 yrs ago? Maybe more? Can't recall if his was a V8? I come over to Beaver Springs once a year for the FE reunion race. It's in your neck of the woods off 522 and 235.
  12. Spokes? Don't the 11.00/22 convert to 11r 24.5 rims? 10.00/20 convert to 22.5. As for Double coin tires? I do run chinese tires on my trailer(15") but I replace them after 5 yrs. I don't know if I want to cut corners to just have to replace them sooner? I think it all boils down to personal preference. I don't mind spending a bit more to feel more comfortable(reliable) with something other then a "cheap" chinese tire.
  13. 56 yrs old. Ya, I hope to not have to buy anymore of these tires? Though the fronts are now 9 yrs old, so maybe 10 yrs til I do them again, "if" I still have the truck and use it the way I do. Some guys would scoff at spending too much money on a "toy" but mine has to be dependable so I feel it is a necessity. I put 6 new trailer tires on every 5 yrs, without a second thought(though I do get them for like $75 a pc). They don't make 6 yrs without failing so I just replace them before I have change one at 2 am on a road somewhere.
  14. As jacked up as I am, I'm really struggling with doing it myself to save the money. I'm at that point that you have to just say "screw it" and pay da man!
  15. Still remember back 25 yrs ago helping my friend change tires on his truck. Had one we just beaded up with starting fluid, airline was adding air....and BOOM....a big chunk of sidewall come apart. My ears rang for quite a while because I was standing right by it, with my back to it. They were used tires that his dad had given to him to run.
  16. Agree. With one of those new fangled tire bars it looks doable. Just need to borrow friends bead blaster tank.
  17. Yes. Yokohama's. I know any tire is a crap shoot. Today even worse then 20 yrs ago. The 3 yr old tires on my pickup were already showing signs of cracking around the bead area. Luckily they were near replacing anyhow. Granted the Mack stays inside 99% of its life.
  18. I'm waiting on my buddy to price them. Wholesale and local pickup. Biggest scare is what it might do to the nose of my race trailer if it comes apart really bad.
  19. I was $200- tire, $50 painted used rim back in 2001. $1600 for all six mounted up when I bought the truck and changed to radial. Double that for only 4 tires. Geez o pete.
  20. So, my drives are 22 yrs old now! Ya, new back in 2001 when I swapped the truck to radials. I put new steers on it again 9 yrs ago, just because. Ive let the drives go since there are 4 and less chance of crashing if I would loose one at 65 mph. I just checked my local shop(where I got them last time), $650/ea and near $3k mounted and all the fees. Yowza!! They were just $200 each back then. They have no age cracks, still look brand new but I've been getting a bit leary on loosing one more every year. I was going to have my buddy price 4 and get them wholesale, but then I have to swap them myself. Surely have to buy one of those fancy tire tools they offer because my back won't survive doing them with just spoons(I do car tires with spoons and it kills me). Likely save $1500 doing it myself? Ugh, have to make up my mind.
  21. The two front legs are wide,so the rear didn't need to be so wide. It was stable. My initial intent was to be able to drop the pan if need be. I didn't have to, luckily.
  22. When I wanted to start my 237, I took some square tubing and welded plates to them to bolt to the front corners of the block, then a made similar stand for the lower two bolts of the bellhousing(allowed me to install flywheel). Worked great. You can see them in this video I made after I first started it up after having to pull the heads to get the mud daubers out of two cylinders.
  23. Ya, I wondered what happened the other day when it came up "lost"! The new server crossed my mind. Hoped Eddy didn't forget to pay the bills!
  24. Sorry, was late to the party Bob. Hope it was a swingin good time!
