  1. I only made a few safety/driveability upgrades to my Diamond T 201 when it was restored. changed to 12 volt, electric fuel pump, although I plumbed it thru the mech one so when you lift the hood it looks original, electric wipers, turn signals, rear bumper and full lights on the rear. I set it up to be able to drive it locally (15-20 mile radius), but it is still a beast.. If I were to build something, especially a big truck, to drive to shows I would upgrade ALL the safety related items and keep the rest as stock as possible.
  2. Joe and Doug I think (???) the first tiltable COE was the 1949-50 White 3000 with an electric screw jack. The LCF Diamond T built by the Murty Bros in 1952-3 used a counterbalanced coil spring to tilt the cab and this method was also copied into the full sized DT 921 COE. I have tilted mine by myself. Do not know who was the first to use a hydraulic jack??
  3. Aussie Paul If you get down north of Melbourne by about an hour and half, you must visit Ian Lee's place for a real hoarder/collector http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/84264/Down-Under-Trip?PageIndex=8

  8. A Merry Christmas to all and have a safe one if you have to travel.
  9. Also another reason for different cabs outside the US was because of import tarriffs/taxes... By building the cab locally people were not importing a whole truck..
  10. Paul and upstaters In you second picture I see the brand name "Land O Lakes" on the side with a Geneva address on the door. Was Land originally an upstate NY company from the Finger Lakes area???
  11. Paul That General looks like an oilfield truck and most of their welders are artists when it comes to fabbing up something like that.
  12. It is not just cars and trucks.. The local Toro lawn mower dealer counter man wanted the VIN number to be able to find a set of BLADES after I had told him the model number and deck size?? My reply was "Computers and Dipsh#t parts men" and walked out!! Went to the Ace Hardware and he picked them right off the shelf.

  20. Sooner would say it was liquid sugar or corn syrup.. In the 60's to 80's Pepsi owned a sugar beet plant, then converted it to corn syrup, in Montazuma NY at the north end of Seneca Lake.
  21. Time mag must be owned by a member of Obumma cabinet!!!
  22. And if you want an original look cut off the arm to the cam and plumb the electric thru it. That is what they did to my Diamond T.
