  1. I knew there was a third engine..Just could not remember the size quickly as I was typing..
  2. Swishy, I am saving my pennies!!! Ron Kirk has already told me he can get me a ride.. The Hume was one of the things left out of our ATHS Down Under tour.. Even if we just took a bus down the old road..
  3. There are more pictures and links to news articles here on pages 4 & 5. https://www.hcvc.com.au/forum/events/15950-haulin-the-hume-2017?start=30
  4. NO!! This truck is either a 1959 or 1960. Ford used the same grill both years. The name Super Duty replaced name Big Job in 1958 with the introduction of the made for truck 477 and 534 engines.
  5. Here is a link to a you tube video of this years "Haulin the Hume" this past weekend. The Hume Highway was the main freight highway from Sydney to Melbourne Australia (about 500 miles) and to the Aussies has a similar historic relevance as our Route 66 has to us Americans. It is now a 4 lane interstate but this event uses as much of the old 2 lane road as possible. The promoters of this event have split the Hume in half and run half way each year alternating starting points. This event / convoy / reenactment has become so popular that they have to limit it to about 250 vehicles. If you search You tube for Haulin the Hume you can come up with videos of previous years.
  6. Fantastic!! One of the best looking Ford's ever built... Would like to have it today..
  7. Paul. Up in that area east of Lake Ontario they average 250+ inches per winter from Labor Day to Memorial Day.. Thus the comment of "9 months of winter and 3 months of damn poor skiing"!!!
  8. Tom You have to be fluent in New England also as the Aussies drop their "R"'s also!!! the city of Cairnes is pronounced Cans..
  9. Aussie???? Not sure?? You can see the steering wheel in the left windshield... Tom, we were both typing at the same time!!
  10. Dave, Is Kieth getting more into the trucks than the farm tractors??? That is a fantastic unit.. Guess I will have to get back up to see you again soon.. Say hello to Suzie!!!

    What?

About the same on an Allis WD45 and a Case VAC..
  12. Tom, sorry but that is a 55 Ford not a 56.. Smaller egg crate in grill and narrow chrome sideband..
  13. Our prayers and condolences are with his family
  14. Here are a couple of pictures I took of this truck in Alice Springs. one on the show grounds and the other in the parade.
  15. DD: Thank you.. Yes, that was his name, Charlie... It is amazing how this old truck hobby shows us how small the world is.. I live in SC and Last year at the Arden NC show I met a man now living in eastern Tenn, also from upstate NY, and we figured out that our fathers bowled on the same team in the early 50's!!
  16. DD: That name Butler brings back memories.. In 1967-8 when I worked for Ithaca Delivery out of the old trolley barn on Wolf Street in Syracuse, the night dock man's last name was Butler and he had a refuse truck he ran days up near where he lived in the Fulton / Oswego area. Could the truck belong to his sons???
  17. Here is a link to Just Old Trucks which is starting to list a Big Mack auction.. Hope they get more details soon!! http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/111552/Upcoming-Auction-in-New-Hampshire-this-August
  18. Thanks for the pictures.. The Houston trip explains why you were not on last weekend..
  19. Mine was a Brockway of about the same vintage.. Actually rode Brockways most of my public school time. In the late 60's I worked for the town highway dept in Central Square NY and we started at 0300, plowed 6 to 12 inches of new snow off the road, sanded them, and the school buses ran on time!!
  20. Swishy That is why the question marks!!! Could not find it in my big Aussie map so just guessed!!
  21. A beautiful "Calendar Grade" photo!!! How long did you have to wait to get the exact sun angle???
