Ok.  So you only have a valve cover. If it had engine brakes there would be a 2" spacer under the valve cover. You will need those, also the exhaust rockers and bridges are different, you will need the longer bolts for the jake heads and valve covers, 2 micro switches, one for the injection pump and one for the clutch pedal, and 3 position switch in the dash.  Not sure if the celenoid wires are laying on top of the engine, i doubt it. And you need 2 jumper wires for under the valve cover.

Thanks Joey. I'd like to find a retired unit in a junkyard all get everything at once. I'll buy new or used. Any help locating parts would be great.

i have 1 pair of 680 jake heads, but they are lightly rusted. I guess I could put them in the wash tank and clean them up for inspection. I saved them from the scrap pile a few years ago.

Have you pulled up VanDerHaag's website. They are a big truck salvage outfit based in Iowa and advertise in the ATHS WOT.  If I remember right they were a big sponsor of the ATHS Des Moines Iowa show in the mid 20teens?

,Im going to have to call them. Looking for 1997 parts there's not much listed. If putting a jake on this engine is going to run over 3k I'll probably start looking for another core and be much more careful when I buy it.

Something like this is what you're looking for. Price is a bit high, but it has engine brake. Like previously mentioned, you can tell it has engine brake spacer between the valve cover and the head.

Put a c15 in and sleep well every night

I'm not sure what chassis he's working with. But unless he has a CL or rw ,he Will probably have to shoehorn it in there..lol..... And if so, b model cats seem to be making a comeback. There's a couple guys out there that are building 600 hp b model kitties 😻.

The listing says its an EM7, which would be a Maxidyne. I think the Maxidynes have different pistons and camshafts than the E7s FYI. Also the fuel pump on an EM7 is governed at 1750. If your trying to make 500hp you'll probably want more RPMs than 1750. You probably will be changing all that on this build but if you buy an engine for parts/core be cognizant of that.

Yes, agreed , i meant for the listing to show what engine brake valve cover spacer looked like.. would like to also add that maxidynes are usually paired with 5,6,7,8 speed maxitorques trans which have an end overdrive of .64
