Popular Post tjc transport Posted Saturday at 04:11 PM Popular Post Share Posted Saturday at 04:11 PM about 2 1/2 hours ago on the way to eye exam. 17 year old who just got her license thursday afternoon misjudged distance and lane changed into me at 50 mph. i did not see her until impact. the pit maneuver i put on her put her a bit sideway into the center barrier, but she turned right and did not hit the wall. i turned left and mashed onto the brakes which put me a bit squirrely from the stupid abs brakes. but once clear of her also turned right, let off the brakes and mashed the gas to correct. the V8 engine and 10 speed trans downshifted from 8th to 4th and put me sideways in the road. i think the poor guy behind me almost had a heart attack when he went from looking at my tailgate to the passenger side of the truck with smoke pouring off the rear tires. everyone pulled over. the poor girl was having a panic attack, and crying so hard she started hyperventilating. we calmed her down and convinced her to call her dad to come get her, because she was in no shape to drive home he showed up within 5 minutes, and not once raised his voice to her. once we all convinced her there was no real damage to either vehicle she finally calmed down. but i guess i now need to get a new truck. 😁 4 1 2 Quote when you are up to your armpits in alligators, it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp.. I followed a car of very young girls on the way home the other day. 25-30 in a 45 zone. She was just coasting and brake checking the line of traffic she had built up over the last few miles. She made a right and I followed and rest of traffic between us went straight. I had clear road and went around her quickly and then nearly stopped in front of her. I flipped her off and then sped away. She just idled and I lost track of her. Either she was scared to be on the road or just screwing with rush hour traffic. Either way, she got a lesson. She sure should know that's not nice to be a plug in front of line of vehicles. But that would work if she's experienced enough to drive fast enough. But if she had been in her first days or a week in the street her goal might be keeping the drive at all and do not smash into anybody/anything. So seems the lesson could be of talking to her to drive fast enough if she could or if not than to stop on a shoulder from time to time to release the main flow. I'm sure in the most cases it's not easy to speak with another driver and explain things. So I usually just pass by keeping hopes the new driver becomes better soon enough.
