Really..... It is a sweet ride. Air ride suspension, cruise control, Harmen Karden stereo, 103 C.I.D. / 6 speed gear box. And we can pack clothes and supplies for a weekend.  That is if we actually went away for a weekend.. 🤔

well I did make some progress on the sportster. too bad the front tire has cracks in the side walls.  It has les than 100 miles on it, so now I need one of those too.

Yep, if it was a big truck tire i would have had it on ... Because i git called out. I took the tire off the second bead since it was 3/4 on. I didnt want it to sit and get dents in the bead. I will get it tomorrow..

I miss the "good old days" when every car had a bumper jack, and the metal "foot" of the jack was just the right shape for breaking the bead on any tire!

Line it up under the front bumper, install the jack and a few quick pumps (or ratchets) and the bead was off, flip the rim over and do the other side.

If you keep on about the Yukon Jack i'm going to feel obligated to give it a try.

Speaking of tires, I stopped in Parkersburg, WV. back in the 80's to get a motel room. I had picked up a load in Cleveland on a Friday and it  was too far out of the way to go by the house, and by the time I got there it would be time to leave again anyway because the load was going way farther south somewhere, I don't remember where now.

So I stopped right there at rt. 50 and I-77, the motel had a big dirt parking lot. I went in and asked about a room and was walking back towards the truck, a 77 F model Mack, when a trailer tire just blew out, sitting in the parking lot.

Sounded like a cannon, dust and dirt flying everywhere. I had been parked about 10 minutes by then probably. First time I'd ever had a tire blow out like that, blew several on the road, but never when I was parked.

ingenuity at it's best for sure; one thing about age experience ;;you always look for a way to do projects with less physical labor involved.

Yukon fire at 100 proof much better than Yukon 125 ;; personal idea only .LOL since the conversation on Moxie took place , have been looking for it only to find empty spots where it should be, never paid attention to it before.

Well I got the wheel back on and was putting air in the tire.......  And I broke the damned valve stem off... I pulled the wheel off. I will take it and my new front tire to the bike shop i use and let them fix em up.  I dont have patience to break the tire down and fight it back on the rim...

If it makes you feel better I have done the same, I think anybody who has worked around tires long enough has done it.

Lock on chucks, and the tire falling over or getting bumped or hose getting pulled, is all it takes.
