In my travels today I went past an old trucking company and spotted a glimpse of a Mack front end. I turned my vehicle  around and went back to get a better look.  I pulled in and sure enough, I saw the red and white one.

After finding the owner of the company, Isaid " I would like to ask you about the old mack". The first words out of his mouth were , "it ain't for sale. I fixed it up years ago and got it looking pretty good. I'm gonna do it again someday."

He then proceeded to tell me he had a dump truck between the sheds out back. 

I went to look at that one as well. 

I was surprised at the condition of both trucks. Very little rust except in the usual places ; floor pan where it meets the cab back wall , crusty surface rust,  etc.

The dump is a gas motor and the tractor trailer is a diesel. Of course neither has run in many years. 

If a person flashed a WHOLE stack of cash you might be able to get them , but neat to look at and dream.

Nice potential. I'm always amazed the people who want to "save them to fix up"almost always leave the windows open for critter guards.    Paul

I agree. I have seen so many "I'm gonna fix it one day" projects sitting around in yards and fields just rotting away. Sometimes it makes me sad of the wasted potential.

Me too but I seriously doubt they will.

The place will close for good one day and they will probably be scrapped.

There was near me a  pretty clean and complete, 1930 Model A Ford 5 window, had a V-8 60 in it installed in the early 1950's. The owner used it in high school. I used to stop a few times a year to ask about buying it for better part of 10 years or so. Always got the line that him and his grandson were going to fix it up.  One day it was gone. Saw the gentleman out side and asked if it was being fixed up. He said he gave it top a local scrapper, "no one wanted the old car anyhow"  People are odd letting go of their prizes.

same church, same phew, happens all the time,, yup gonna fix I one day, NO its  not for sale, one day its gone. then ya find out it sat too long and he got in over his head and didn't remember you even asked about it or the old man died and his wife junked it .
