  1. Rudy,I have one on my B87 thats on top of the aux.trans.What 2 B87 did you see at the Mack Days.I was there and didn't see any,are you sure they werem't B81's.Thanks Mike Durkin
  2. My wife is great about it.We'll be married 29 years on the 28th of this month. So after all the shit I've broughted home she has never said get it outta here.I always tell here I could be out drinking and chasing other woman around she just looks at me and shakes her head.
  3. It will be completely red, just like the day it left the factory.
  4. Mine a B873SX serial #1117
  5. Someone please stop me.I have this problem the more i look at my B87 the more I take off of her before sandblasting, prime, paint.Today I removed the front right spoke wheel and brake drum and then the complete brake backing plate just so it would be easier to get to the area of the king pins to paint and blast. You will all know I'm truely a sick person when I remove the rears.I think my wife will have me comitted then to the local HAHA Hotel, if she doesn't already have a room booked for me.Will post some pic on Tuesday.
  6. At that number someone better have a shit load more and alot of time on his hands.I know I'm going through my B87 right now and mine I would have driven it to the west coast before I started.
  7. Ok,which one do we do first.Since I'm doing a B87 lets start on the B81.Everything will be fresh in my brain. When's a good time to come up.Mike
  8. Spent all day removing the 49 years of dirt, grease from the frame. Also removed the power steering from the truck and clean it all up.Hopefully will be sandblasting starting on Tuesday.Don't have much of anything going on this week.I would like to get the front half blasted and primed then will start on the back half.I welded in the panal on the bottom of cab where the back panal meets the floor on Tuesday of last week,Did some putty work on it have to sand it all down, then the cab will be ready to be primed also.
  9. Macktrucks4,I think that you can haul a trailer behind your antique truck as long as it's not for profit.I was always told that i could haul my other antique trucks and caterpillar tractors to and from shows.
  10. I have my 1979 R model tag in PA with antique tags,I did have to paint it but was going to do that anyhow. You will have to have antique insurance on it that cost about $200.00 a year.If you don't drive it at all why would you think of tagging it,since you have 9 acres.
  11. Looking forwarded to it.
  12. I think I brought the last set of B87 emblems from Tidewater Mack. That was back in 2005 I think.Did you get your truck yet, would like to come up and see it.Thanks Mike
  13. Forgot to mention everything is original except for the batteries, tires, and I just put front brakes on it this weekend, since my younger brother wants to get his CDL using it.I had to get it inspected since it has antique tags.Total original miles are 72,156.
  14. I live about 10 minutes from shop. The Ford is also red. When we were in the excavation business everything we owned was painted red.The spec are 169"WB,ENDT676-300 285hp,TRXL107-low hold 5 speed,12000 front,38000 rears,Price when we brought 20 was $44,904.00 in 1979
  15. Vinnie,if I use it as a daily driver it may get up to 100,000 say in maybe 5 years.
  16. Started to sandblast the frame today until my air compressor took a shit on me.Got water in the gas, took the tank and carb all apart and clean it out.By the time I got that done it was getting a little late so I should be able to start right up in the morning. Will post a pic when it done.
  17. Yesterday was such a nice day I took the old R model out for a ride. After I wash her all up from collecting dust all winter long. She's parked in the driveway for the night will be using her this week to get back and forth to the mancave since the car is at the dealer.
  18. Hope my B87 looks that good when I'm finished.Keep up thr great work.Mike
  19. The Mack V8 ran away one morning and by the time we got it shut down the damage was done.We did it in house. That truck was preety beat when we got rid of it.I can only think what it's like now.I would have taken the old B87 to drive over that truck any day, when you took out the B87 you knew you would be coming back under your own power.
  20. When ever we would get hung up on a hump on the road with that truck within 2 weeks the front rear would blow out.The other problem we had with it was with a heavy load on the lowboy and you went to take off the frame would flex bad enough that the fan would hit the should. My dad had wanted to order a truck that he would spec out but the wait time was to long so Trenton Mack found this truck that was ordered by a fellow in North Jersey to be used as a triaxle dump.It only had 58 rears and my dad wanted 65's,but Mack said they would hold up and they back it up so everytime they blew Mack replaced them.
  21. Congrats, didn't see the pic till after I sent you a pm.Looks real clean. Is it a tractor or a dump. Why don't we drive up and drive it home. That would be cool.
  22. Here are some shots of my latest efforts to get this old girl back up and running.First one is the motor(cummins nt335),secord is the main trans, and the last 2 are of the frame.I druged it out of the shop to be blasted this week.I'm thinking of doing the front half first then removing the rear tires and doing the back half.I am not looking forwarded to removing the back tires, may have to get the hoist out to help.1200x24's are just to damm heavy to be moving around anymore at any age. Will keep you posted on my progress.Thinking of painting the motor with the Cummins pale brown paint, any throughts?
  23. If that truck could only talk, the tales it would tell.
  24. Rich, the rmodel and the truck thats next to it were the only 2 that he got off of us.Mike the owner had 4-5 B81's long time ago.His dad was in the trucking business also.ABC is a small local guy that does very small site work,he main thing is the trucking.Things are getting very tight around here for any kind of work, the jobs that do come out are going very cheap.Tough to make any $$$ noadays.
