  1. Freightliner had manufactured a lot of these with the cummins pancake engine an pusher axle, the west coast used a lot of these for oil & gas trucks pulling pup's also over here in Jersey Consolidated Freight had a bunch of this design F/Liner with the motor under the frame with a very short single axle backed up against a pup trailer & pulling another pup to be O.A.L. legal. C/F pulled these doubles out of there Newark NJ term. with skid chains hanging off the side of ther tractors long before doubles showed up here.BULLHUSK
  2. Hey Mark, I took the wife over to NYC to see a Broadway play yesterday so i said lets take the Ferry out of Weehawken. So on the way back i see Arthur Impartore (you remember him?) so i Bull Shited with him for a couple of minutes. This guys 85 years old used to own APA trucking in No Bergen he now owns NY Waterways. He bought 2.5 miles of water front property back in the early 80's for 7.5 million bucks even in todays economy it's in the hundreds of millions of $$$. But there he was on a saturday afternoon in his shorts & T-shirt protecting his investment.BULLHUSK
  3. We called those old Whites ( Bubble Cabs) A lot of the freight Co's up here used the old ones for switcher tractors cause they were easy to get in & out of & most had factory power steering, one bad thing about them was the older ones had a fixed steering column so when the cab tilted you had to take the driver seat cushon out so the steering had some place to go!!BULLHUSK PS a lot of the old timers used to carry a 2 Foot safty chain with them too wrap around the back of the cab just in case
  4. Steve, If you have the manual fuel shut off like my 88 R model, pull the engine shut off out about half way, then give it full throttle,if there is less black smoke chances are someone turned up the pump. On my truck the puff only works when the air brake button is released, when my brakes are on the puff does not work.you could take the air line off the puff valve an see if it has been blocked off, if not, and if its a puff valve like mine just change it ther not that $$$ my motor is a EM 6 350 4V head American Bosch Pump BULLHUSK

  10. Thanks for the info Rob, I had a V10 for 6 years before i got the Diesel I liked that truck but i had too put plugs in it @ 35000 mi an when i sold it it had 140000 on it an it did not burn a drop of oil. GG2 front is 5200 & the rear is 6200 so it gives me a combo of 11400.On Tuesday I rented a 38ft. 2 car trailer & went from Jersey to Pittsburgh Pa.to P/U two 1965 Dodge Coronet 500's less motor & trans.but complete body & interiors the truck handled well, but i have to agree with Rob about the automatic trans.if your gona tow anything big & heavy a stick is the way to go
  11. Rob I noticed you have a dual wheel P/U & A nice trailer, can you tell me what kind of a set up you have. And do you think I could pull a trailer like yours with a 3500 Dodge Diesel single wheel,or maybe a super single tire if there is such a thing? Thanks Ernie

Well it's a good thing my dad was still around because I woulda had the trans. out!! But that was when I was young an foolish now i'm old an foolish LOL BULLHUSK
  18. Try to shift your 15 speed progressive. Put it in deep reduction shift 1'st to 2'nd then flip out of deep reduction an back into 1'st do this all the way to 5'th and see if it gets worse, also does the truck have a P.T.O BULLHUSK
