  2. Today, I think oil was trading @ 105 dollars a barrel......WHY???? What a time it is 1940 U.S.A. Goes to Saudi Arabia to drill for water so people could live in the desert, they find OIL INSTEAD!!!! Sadam (whats his name) invades Kuwait; We send in our Troops (Blood) an Air force, an not to mention all of our money for the whole war!!!... We free all the people after Sadem's troops raped an killed thousands of Kuwaits people!!! never got one red cent back from Kuwait or the Suadi's!! An we the tax payers laid out all of the billions. That was then... sooo today we pay $105 Oh by the way?? If we import 50% of our oil an the other 50% is our own an I do mean ours the American People own it why are we not paying a much less price for that??? BULLHUSK
  3. Rob, I musta missed this one!!! WOW overhead cam 1693!!!.... OH by the way; you remember you tellin me a couple of months ago about that 761 Brock.(If it ain't mant to be don't worry it's not the one) I just bought (the one) yesterday!! Remember when I joined the Mack Site I was lookin for an R700 V12?? well thanks to someone (a member on this site) calling me the minute that RL700L came up on the classified Mack!! I was the guys first caller!! So I sent him a DEP. an hopefully I'll have it shipped next week. But you know how it goes.... It ain't mine till it's in my yard. BULLHUSK AKA LIBIDO

  5. Yes, I am getting some prices to get her back to Jersey, an the owner has a guy about a mile from him that can do it!! I'm just tryin to work out some ##### now
  6. OK guys, The truck does not run the motor is not siezed but needs work. Not crazy about the rear susp.(Pag&Page) but i have a nice air/ride out of one of my wrecked Pete's that might look good under there? Now the other truck? the one with the E9 V8 that was #2 of the three with the Alm. frame but he put the 440V8 into it!! crazy right!! Both those trucks were used in the logging ind, up there in WA. so says the owner but we'll see? I'm just a little worried about the frame?? But i spoke to the owner tonight, an was told again the only thing wrong was the motor needed work but I just might take a ride out when they load it up or maybe even take a ride out with one of my guys an pick it up (I don't have a drop deck but they do rent them by me)it's just with the price of fuel right now the hauler might be cheaper? Ernie
  7. Mark, I spoke to the owner on Saturday, that truck is one of 3 with an aluminum frame. The hood on the tractor looks a little longer, an where the vent goes, it almost looks like they narrowed that area for the hood maybe?? also the extensions on the sides under the air cleaner?? now i just got to figure how to get it to Jersey!!!
  8. Frankie Zahn from So Jersey is still running 4 or 5 of those old 9000 Louieville Ford's to haul his bulk tankers. He keeps them in great shape they also have the 3406 B motors 425's
  9. Terry, Yes Mack did throw the Brockway truck to the curb along with It's broken promises to the workers at the Cortland NY plant, an Volvo got rid of the Autocar Truck. What I'm trying to say here is that Mack told It's Brockway workers (were here to stay) but that was not to be, so what we have here is a lot of these oldtimers, that are still with Mack, remember years past an broken promises (an the same with Volvo). So I would guess a lot of these guys are optomistic? or maybe cautiously optomistic? I would say cautiously optomistic! So I guess someone like myself who likes Mack, Brockway, an Autocar would hope you are right; But guys like Mark an myself? we'll just wait an see what happens BULLHUSK
  10. A friend of mine had one of those twin turbo Mack V8's in his R700 back in early 70's, the motor would not stay together! Mack worked out some kind of deal with him on a new tractor wrecked or rolled over in transport an he wound up with a 237 Maxie with a 6 speed' not a lot of power but he was able to pay for his R700 afte the transplant
  11. Rob, You bring home a very good point here; back in the 1960's & 70's Chrysler had some of the most bulletproof drivetrains you could buy. State Police used there 440 & 383 HIPO motors Taxie's used the 318 & Slant 6 not to mention the 727 Automatic Trans! They were getting 1-2 even 300,000 mi on some of these cars! Butttt!!! the door handles would fall off, an the electric windows wouldn't work, AC units not working, the paint jobs were real shit! an body parts didn't fit right and the list went on & on until nobody but me an my Dad were buyin them!! an only because we new what to expect an just kept up with them! Lets hope Mack is not going in that direction! But you have a lot of good points here and I agree with you Ernie

  15. 97 Mack1' I would check the Jakes an the oil pressure (front an back of block as peterj suggested). But it sounds to me like there is tollerence issues either in your oil pump or your crank. Did the guy know you had oil pressure issues before he did the overhaul? If so why didn't he put a new oil pump in when he did the motor? How did the bearing inserts look when he pulled them, were they showing copper? I'm not trying to be a Monday Morning Quaterback I'm just trying to help. Now with that being said if we do a motor job either in shop or sending it out, if there is an oil pressure prob. we check all of these things including micing the crank for oil clearance. I would call the guy who did the motor job for you an run some of these questions that peterj & myself asked. As far as the oil leak? I would clean up the block where you see the oil an try to pin point where the leak is Good Luck Ernie
  16. WHAT WAS THE OIL PRESSURE BEFORE THE INFRAME? DID YOU HAVE THE CRANK MICED FOR WEAR? IF YOU DID AN INFRAME YOU SHOULD PUT A CAT REMAN OIL PUMP IN. WHAT SIDE OF THE MOTOR IS THE OIL LEAK? IS IT ON THE GEAR HOUSING SIDE? BULLHUSK
  17. I used to put 1 gal. of ATF (trans fluid) in just before my oil changes,(like the day before) about one or two times a year, on a 290 Cummins that I had years back, when I pulled the pan (had a crack in it) I was gona put a set of inserts in, but the bearings looked new an the inside of the motor looked the same so I let it go! I sold it about a year later an that guy ran it for a long time. An old timer told me about doing that years ago BULLHUSK
  18. Maybe this is what we need?? Google Fairbanks Morse Opposed piston diesel engine!!! still used today, engine has no cyl head or valves, just injectors. I think it is a 2 cycle, cause it uses the same type of liner as a Detroit(with the holes)an a big blower Ernie
  19. I sure wish someone in Washington would tell New Jersey!!! You buy a new class 8 truck in NJ you still gota get smoke tested !!! an every year ta boot!!
  20. Ya I think that was Florida Rock also HI-HO DiDario in CT had those twin steer DMM's years back
  21. Could it be a WEBCO I think that was the way it was spelled?? I'm sure there was a truck called a WEBCO ...NO? Ernie
  22. Happy Birthday Rob, An many many more Macks an Birthdays. How about a truck for every year starting this year?
  23. I don't thing there is a timing chain in a 707 they use timing gears. It could have a stripped or broken gear, just pull your dist. cap off an turn the motor over, if the dist. shaft don't turn then you prob. have a timing gear prob.
  24. I sent a message on the Brockway Web Site I still want to know how the deal went down on the 761!! I Just want to know from the buyer that he didn't bust the deal out? If he did then the rest of us on the Brockway Web Site Know were we stand!! If not then I've got A bone to pick with the seller since he has a Autocar for sale on the truckpaper.com site
