  1. Yeah guess you could say it’s a delete. If you knew what to look for it would be easy, otherwise it looks like the million or so other e-tech’s for the most part.
  2. Just my experience but, with the EGR cooler removed, and the system blocked but otherwise intact, I’ve not had any issue with my ASET. I installed a block off plate between the manifold and EGR valve, left the electronics connected but removed the oil lines. Also had a block plate welded to the crossover pipe. Really cleans up that side of the engine. I’ve ran it two years with no check engine lights like this. Now I do all my own work, other than the annual inspection. If this truck is as clean as you say I’d be all over it.
  3. My 06 CHN has quad lock rears. The powerdivider is air powered and works like it should, and the icon illuminates on the dash. My individual switches/buttons for locking each axles differential do not illuminate and the rears obviously do not lock. I'm not having luck finding relays or a fuse for them although the decal is pretty well worn away on the fuse and relay panel mounted on the firewall. Anyone happen to know where these switched are powered from?? Thanks.
  4. For some reason I don't have pictures from when I did it but I installed a powerleash onto my used engine when I did my swap this winter. The used engine was powerleash ready, but I had to install the locating dowels into the head. It honestly wasn't much of a job to do, I downloaded the service manual from the emedia site so had all the info I needed. The powerleash looks to be the easier brake to add in my opinion if your working with aset engines.
  5. Finally got my engine swap done and got my project running. The truck originally had dual exhaust but has been switched to single, which I'm good with. I had a vin for a truck with single exhaust and from Mack the two pipes that go from the flex pipe under the cab around the cab air bag and to the muffler are over 700$. Grand rock doesn't list any parts for a CHN, and the pipe for a CH won't work. (Made that mistake, forgetting about air bag placement) Is a Vision or CX set up similar to a CHN? Mine is a daycab, and the exhaust was quite cobbled together. Anyone have pictures, parts numbers or suggestion? Thanks.
  6. Is the injection pump still available?
  7. I know this is more of an electrical question but engine seems to get more views. I was wondering if anyone could give me the pin/plug location and colors of the wiring on the pump side of the harness? My plugs were cut off and the wires were just twisted together, and honestly I don't completely trust the locations. I've gone thru the schematic with my meter (no wire numbers are left on the chassis harness) and have the chassis side figured out back to the FIC. There isn't ant numbers on the pump harness just color coded, using my meter I have things hooked up with my best guess. My pump speed sensor is bad I'm pretty sure because I can't find any combo that matches what the service manual says the pump sensor should ohm at, but I don't believe that would stop it from starting. I've pulled the rack plug and am getting no rack movement, just would like a more educated guess on the rack actuator and position sensor before I start swapping wires. Thanks.
  8. So an E6 pump may work on an E7? I picked up an E7 v-mac 1 over the weekend that is truly a wiring disaster. The worst part of it all is that upon further looking the FIC is missing. I can handle the wiring, but not having much luck so far with the missing module. Does anybody know if the FIC is vin specific to the v-mac control or is it a slave controller to it? Anybody have any leads on a FIC?? I’d like to try fixing the electrical side of it enough to see if it runs before going all in and doing the mechanical swap.
  9. I've thought about the detent springs, but figure since 8th is ok it's likely not that. The shifter really doesn't seem to move either applying or removing torque. I'm sure I'll be taking it apart after I get done with corn, just was wondering if I was possibly overlooking something. Thanks.
  10. The 9 speed in my 98 RD has started jumping out of 4th gear. What confuses me about it is it will not jump out of 8th. I'm assuming the sliding collar is likely worn on the shaft, but normally I thought it would show in both ranges? Am I correct in thinking my problem is in the main box and not the auxiliary?
  11. Thanks for the heads up on the injectors, I should have 5 good ones from the 460 engine, maybe 6 depending on if the piston made contact. I plan on leaving the egr sensors intact, just going to block off the valve and remove the cooler. I paid 4700 for the truck which I felt was pretty fair for an 06. Truck is spec'd great, 14k/46k axles with quad locks in the back, 18sp with a 2 line wet kit, full gauge package and pwr windows/ locks. About as nice of truck as I could ever want. Have 1400 in the used engine and 1k in a set of like new caps for the drives. Figure I should have a damn nice truck for under 10k that should last me practically forever.
  12. I picked up a nicely spec'ed CH a couple weeks ago. Bought it knowing it had an inspection window at number 5 and I would be doing an engine swap. The original engine is an ac460, had around 18k hours and 522k miles, it's going to be a spare parts engine. I picked up an ac380/410 at an auction. Really know nothing about the engine other than it came from a cxn612 and I have the vin from that truck. I work (Field service for a cat dealer) literally next door to a Mack dealer, so getting parts is not problem. This is going to be a farm truck that gets 2-3k miles a year absolute tops. My plan is to freshen up the 380/410 mains rods, thermostats and remove the egr while I have the engine out and on the ground. I've checked with Mack and all the internals between the two engine swap are the same as far as pistons, pumps, injectors and turbo. I plan on swapping Ecm's to get the 460 setting. Other than EUP programming are there other calibrations I'll need done? Turbo, throttle position??? Also, the CX had an air clutch fan vs the electronic viscous on the CH, I prefer the simplicity of the air fan and can't imagine it would take much to make it work on the CH but is the viscous the better choice for any particular reason? Also the 460 had a powerleash, the 380 is powerleash ready. I've got the aset manual downloaded and have looked over powerleash bulletins, it looks like the biggest thing is to definitely replace the rocker bolts, other than that it seems as simple as following the adjustment procedures. Is there anything else I should do or look at while I have things apart?
  13. I've got 3 nos ones sitting in the barn. They don't have the moldings for radio speakers. 150$?
  14. Yeah, it is what it is with the bearings. It’s just that I asked and was assured multiple times. The guys owns a fleet, he knows the stuff, just be honest about what you know or don’t. I used a V225 Cat forklift to set it up there. Pulled It ok, despite being a pretty hilly section of 80.
  15. So I bought this thing. I called the guy and talked with him, his father had bought it new and they used it occasionally. They supposedly had just gone over it making sure everything was good as the ad had said. Seemed like a real straight up guy, so I sent him a check and parked my truck at his yard on our way to NJ fpr thanksgiving. On the Monday after we met up and transferred the title, no problems. It was all down hill from there, hooked up and only a couple lights, no biggie its old and my wife will be following me anyway. OK, so now no brakes, well I'm empty and my truck has good brakes, is what it is. So we take off, make it 12 with 250 to go and smoke, damn... you can see what I found in the second picture. This was after finding a small shop that was open on the first day of deer, I carry tools, just not enough for tearing off a wheel. So chain up the axle and put some grease in the other wheels. I made it to state college when another starts getting hot. We were 5 miles from the central parts facility of the company I work for, so I drop it off there and we head home. I ran down the following Thursday and retrieved it with my pickup and gooseneck. I tore it apart and got lucky I guess, no real damage to the spindle and I only needed an inner set of bearings. I'm gonna convert it over to oil filled hubs and replace the hardware for the brakes, along with re wiring and re plumbing. The trailer is in really decent shape with almost zero rust and is rated for 60K. It'll work perfect for the few times I want to move a piece of rented equipment from work to home. I wish the owner had just told me the truth about the thing, I would have still bought it just would have hauled it in the first place.
  16. What's old is new again. Most cats all use canister type filters now. It lowers their "footprint" by not having all the metal from the spin on type going to the dumpster is what we were told in training.
  17. Suprised at this, work ordered an F-450 for a small service truck and it's a 14 week wait for it.
  18. Saw it at Slippery Rock materials yesterday and along I-80 getting loaded today. Truck looks damn good. It's nice to see something other than the standard Pete or KW. Very nice work you should be proud.
  19. Just did mine last weekend. I had to replace the adjuster nut on mine as well, as the threads peeled off it. Thankfully the bad thread on the spindle was at the bottom and could be cleaned up.
  20. I've got a 98 E7-350 that is pure mechanical (rod from pedal to govenor) in my RD688 tractor. It is with out a doubt the best cold starting engine I have ever owned.
  21. I'm a Cat man for a living, with all the tooling and information needed. i would pass myself, parts are available, but electronics are costly and there are less and less people left that can work on them. The 3116 is the engine with a "Detroit" style fuel system. I love those lil guys, a true mechanics engine.
  22. Yup, pulling my lil pup. The two trucks you guys had there are are some well taken care of pieces. They always catch my eye when I pass them on 79.
  23. Drove by hauling corn Friday when you guys were taking the bed off. I'm suprised to seee Rodger is selling stuff. In the past he had no interest in getting rid of anything.
  24. The 38 does have the heavy duty trunnion stand, I didn't know they offered it in that rating.
  25. It is set up with ATAAC, it originally was a tip turbine.
