  1. Yeah, I remember when I was working hard driving truck delivering to job sites....
  2. Last Tuesday I get called to assist at a 2 semi crash. One truck was drivable, other needed towed. Truck one rearended truck 2 at about 15mph. drive one was fine, but hood and radiator knocked out of truck. truck 2 ICC bumper slightly bent, truck 2 driver complaining of neck & back pain was packaged, immobilized loaded in an ambulance & hauled off to the hospital. I drove his truck back, O/O Pete, looks like he is in way over his head... I'm thinking he sees an easy way out at the expense of a very, very minor crash.

Well "new" Fortmeyers (at US30,US33,I-69)has been called the Fort Wayne Travel Plaza for years now & "old" Fortmeyers (at US33 & Washington Center Road) was leveled & turned into a small fuel stop. There is a real good chance that you have seen my truck setting in Dan's yard just East of Wapak on the east side of St John's OH north side of the road up on the hill. Dan had a many R Macks, a few F's & a Superliner. Last I knew he also still had one H but it is in pretty rough shape & 2 building full of Mack parts.
  4. Good looking 700. Not sure what the big deal is about hauling it with a 1 ton.....
  5. Don't believe anything that you hear & only half what you see. I am sure that there are no trailers under the runways at Logan. No longer then it would take to recover a trailer there is no reason to leave it behind to deteriorate & create a void in/under the concrete to create a hazard for aircraft. There is no way a trailer would be allowed to be left in the fill. In Ft Wayne a new 7 story hotel was demolished before it was finished because of unsafe soil. http://www.indianasnewscenter.com/news/local/39749242.html Just my observation... T.
  6. Just before I was let go at PCI Trucking we bought 2 Reitnouer Big Bubba 48'X102" flats. We put one behind a company Pete 379 & the other behind an O/O Mack CX. The Mack CX could scale 51K with 3/4 tanks & it was fully loaded out, 12 chains/binders, 4" & 2" straps tarps, edge protectors, etc. The Pete loaded out the same with 1/2 tanks could scale 48,500#.
  7. This is on the entry door to my motorhome.
  8. Maybe I shouldn't have, but.... I sent her an email: Sharon, That email that you sent to Rich was so nice. You know the one, if not, I will refresh your memory: Shuman Sharon <sharon.shuman@volvo.com> to tswoskowiak@gmail.com8:55am Rich, please check out the link he mentions. Ignore the rest of his crappy email. I mean, really, does he think I/we care what he thinks? I hope like hell you lose your job over this, or at least get demoted. Oh, not that you would, but you don't need to reply for in your own infamous words "does (s)he think I/we care what (s)he thinks?" Terry Tombaugh, avid Mack fan until Volvo purchased them and began hiring people like you.
  9. That was in Columbia SC. These were in N Myrtle Beach, SC, Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN
  10. I was tired last night (tonight too!) as I read your question and missed the most important part of the question. For the CL7XX trucks, there was an exterior Elite trim package too. I believe it was an "Elite" badge on the grille, and a black oval with the Bulldog for each side of the hood. I think any level interior trim package was available with the CL7XX Elite trucks. Not positive about this anymore. My CRS is kicking in again! T.
  11. I am getting kinda old so memory is fading a bit. I cannot remember what the 1st & 2nd trim levels were when the CH & CL were 1st introduced, but the 3rd trim level was Elite. In the CH and I believe the CL6XX highway tractors in the interior you had a choice of either silver (gray) or maroon cloth & leather with Cherry dash inserts, choice of Panasonic or Alpine stereo system with 2 6X9's speakers in rear corners of cab, 2 each 4 inch speakers in ceiling of cab above driver and passenger seats and 2 6 inch speakers in sleeper. Also in sleeper a clock with alarm. Back in the cab an overhead console, leather wrapped steering wheel, tilt & telescopic steering, carpet throughout, Bostrom or National seats with dual arm rests, and Bulldog embroidered into the sides and "Mack" on the back, the Bulldog was also embroidered on the leather shifter boot. map lights above driver and passenger door and 3 way entry light above both doors and in console. There was also a map pouch at the base of the center section of the dash and permit holders on both doors, with a vent in the left door and a spot window in the right. Power windows and locks were an option but not part of the Elite trim. I drove two CH613's with Elite trim, a 91 and a 93. Both were the silver trim and were very comfortable and rather driver friendly.
  12. I did all of the above today and I also thanked a few Vets today, including the one I am married to.
  13. Only partially by choice, funny how it leaves your forehead and goes down your back towards your as.........
  14. I was just noticing that it has been nearly 4 years since we switched over to this forum from the old one. Maybe it is just me getting older, but it doesn't seem like it has been that long.
  15. This is all that remains of this truck. The rest was cut up and scrapped some time ago.
  16. Glad to hear it fired up for you Trent. Hey Jocko, I notice you have a 1975 A-car, but you use a pic of Dean Ashby's '74 A-car for your avatar. Why not put up a pic of your own A-car?
  17. Long time baseball fans will remember Mark "The Bird" Fidrych as the pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. After retiring due to injuries he moved back home to Mass and bought a dump truck and trucked the rest of his life. There was an artical in Bulldog about him back in the late '90's. I believe he was working on "The Big Dig" at the time. It appears he died while working on his dump truck at home.
  18. where in IN is it? I am in the Ft Wayne area. If your friend has trouble getting past it and it is near me I would be able to help you out with pictures.
  19. Your flirtin' with disaster paintin' it Cat yellow!!! A few years back when Shawn and I were putting together the engine for the motorhome, Genie came down and decided to paint the engine for his street stock that was setting in Shawns garage, grabbed a can of Cat yellow and said this will work, I looked at him and said I wouldn't paint it Cat yellow unless you don't want to finish the 1st race of the season. Guess what, he exploded the left side of the engine right off 10 laps into the 1st race!!! I have never seen an engine do that, other than top fuel stuff. We of course, to this day, blame the Cat yellow.
  20. Larry, That would be a conestoga wagon. The "curtain sides" have a solid roof, front and swing rear doors with soft sides and a removable support on each side. You can load and unload with an overhead crane on a conestoga, but not on a "curtain side". These are taughtliners or "curtain sides". I couldn't find any pics on line of conestogas. T.
  21. Rob, A company I use to work for had a customer that required dock loading in northern Indiana, but their customer required side unloading in Texas so we utilized taught-liners (curtain sides) for this customer. The driver swung the doors, backed into the dock and customer loaded trailer, Driver would then pull out, loosen the curtains at the bottom and secured the load with 4 inch straps just as you would a flat bed, then re-secure the bottom of the curtains. These trailers keep water out just as well as a very good tarp job. Many lumber operations used the taught-liners (still do) but the Conastogas have been utilized now with lumber operations as well as a lot of steel haulers using them too. T.
  22. Some friends lost their son to SIDS a few years back. That one day each year is very hard on them. We are thinking about you. Terry & Kim
  23. Well.... probably not woth much, but I am feeling generous today and I would give you $100.00. Seriously, I would really like to see pic's of this truck. Must be a beaut! I would not even begin to guess what to ask for it. The market is so depressed right now that it would be difficult to sell. Did you ever see the '84 (I think 84) R Model S/A with only about 35 miles on it that was for sale every place for mid 5 figures? It did finally sell, but not sure what it brought. I hope you can post some pic's soon. Probably looks a little better than my F.
  24. Don't worry about the Astro, I was just kidding about that.
